This is a special shout out to Ramona in Maine who couldn’t make it out to meet Debe in San Diego!
You were missed, and we hope you can make it another time!
We had a lot of fun in Winston Ways land yesterday ---it’s two simple units, but there are many, and variety is the key so short strip sets were our friend as we made units for our blocks.
It’s important to watch cutting accuracy and seam allowances with this blocks so units fit with each other ---all 104 pieces per block!
Debe’s block you see here is extra special. She lost her hubby a couple of years ago, and these shirts belonged to him. Fabric has such precious memory and it takes a season before someone is ready to tackle those saved articles of clothing and make them into something special. It’s a healing process. It’s a growing opportunity. It helps us not only remember the one we’ve lost, but maybe along the way we reconfirm things about ourselves. Or perhaps discover something about our own strength and resilience we never knew we possessed before.
Thanks for sharing your story with me, Debe!
It was a super day at Memory Lane Quilt Shop in El Cajon!

A 4 hour layover in Atlanta, a one hour flight home after that – and I’ll be picked up at the airport and whisked off to Quilt Villa for the weekend to sleep off the jet lag!
It’s been a great trip, and I’m already looking forward to my next trip back to Sunny California ----
Have a great Thursday, everyone!
Great blocks, such lovely colour combinations. Have a good and safe journey back. Enjoy the rest at your cabin.

Wow! Those blocks look beautiful and everyone looked to be having a blast. I love the long strip set with the "caught" red piece...it looked like it was giving us raspberries!!!
