Karen sent this photo taken during an early Quilt-Cam evening with the following caption:
I found the perfect phone stand to watch Quiltcam while sewing along!!
From Karen in Nixa, Mo :)Hahaha! I love it! And how your phone matches the machine…good planning there, too, Karen!
Tablets, Iphones, laptops and desktops ---big screen TVs, however you view it…it’s time for Quilt-Cam!
Can you believe it’s been 3 weeks since the last time we were here to sew together? I don’t know where the time went --- but I’m glad to have the chance to sit down, put some stitches in, put everything else on hold while we enjoy some time this evening.
I pulled out the String Spider Web project…this thing feels ENDLESS!
But when I think about the time I have actually WORKED on it – it hasn’t been much. If I’m working on it during Quilt-Cam I’m talking half the time or more, reading other people’s comments and emails – so how much stitching really gets put in on a Quilt-Cam night?
Not much.
I can’t wait until my travel schedule is done for the year so I can finally put in some QUALITY and QUANTITY time on this..I’m sure you are as tired of it hanging around my neck as I am!
I did some trimming of units finished last time.
I’m sewing them together on my 1950s Pink Atlas!
Laid out on the floor….yep…still more to go!
Let’s make more blocks! Click the arrow on the screen below to start the feed!
Yahoo Quiltcam...it's been too long!I am hand stitching binding on two small quilts that I finished at a quilt retreat this weekend.27 ladies sewing, quilting, and chatting for 4 days, it was crazy and so much fun.Hope your ears weren't burning too much today as I was talking about you and Quiltville with two new members at our guild meeting today.I had showed my finished Easy Street and one of them was thinking of doing your new mystery this year.
ReplyDeleteYahoo Quilt Cam! Working on Blue Ridge Beauty for my sweet cousin that gave me our grandma's treadle. Hey Bonnie....I have been wanting to ask you for a while....how much do you analyze your blocks when laying out your quilts? Do you fret or are you more organic with your layouts?
ReplyDeleteCant wait for you to teach this at our guild in May.
ReplyDeleteHurray for quilt cam! I'll be cutting out fabric for a friend's memory quilt from her mother's shirts while I watch!
ReplyDeleteTexas has the light on for you! Are you ready for some BBQ..yee haw!

Hi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteFor the mystery quilt, you have the 6.5" easy angle ruler pictured. Can we use the 4.5" size?
Really looking forward to the next mystery!
Susan
Hi bonnie, just got done cutting up my flying geese for the border of my talking turkey. I absolutely love it. Now I'm just relaxing watching you!!! Thank you for all you do and share!!! Rea (Ree-ah)from CNY
ReplyDeleteFirst time watching the webcam! I'm knitting, not quilting -- but will be sharing the Spiderweb block at Ruth's Stitchery in Colorado Springs for our Happy Scrappers group in 2015!
ReplyDeleteLove Quiltcam. Hubby is away and the quilter will play. Working on some Quilts of Valor labels on the embroidery machine while watching you sew, pure heaven. Deborah in Oregon.

ReplyDeleteI'm binding while I listen to quilt CAM this time. Gotta enjoy a little Bonnie time! You have been missed. Got my Paint chips and I have two local friends who will keep me on track with the Grand Mystery. I changed the Aqua to Purple to match your jacket on your Picture in front of the Grand Hotel.
ReplyDeleteTrying to finish more ufos and Christmas gifts until time for the Mystery! Safe travels to Texas and the cruise!
Thanks for quiltcam...got home late from work but did not miss too much. I am working on my Perkimon Daydream. Finishing up strip set #4 6500 1" squares done, 399 blocks to go. I want it together for Christmas. This is my gift for me. Thanks for making this 10,000 pieces possible. Great pattern. Paula from Omaha
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, will you be teaching on the Cruise or is it just for pleasure? Sharon from New Jersey
ReplyDeleteAre your strips the same width?
ReplyDeleteDo you organize your strings by color or value or do u just throw them all in together? Also how small a piece goes in your string pile?
ReplyDeleteI am treadling scraps tonight in Southern Ontario, Canada where it is cold and raining. It's the perfect time for Quiltcam! I'm so looking forward to collecting fabrics for the new mystery... counting down the days!
ReplyDeleteI normally make a lap quilt size around 45x60 or so. We make them for the local nursing home so it's a great way for me to play with new blocks. I also make baby size 45x45 for the church.

I like to make 40 x 56 or so. Lap quilt, kid quilt, or wheel chair. And one width of fabric.
ReplyDeleteI make lap-sized quilts unless the recipients requests a larger quilt.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie ! Loving quilt cam ! Buffalo NY. My go to quilt size is 60" x 60". :-)
ReplyDeleteQueen. Period. Queen.
ReplyDeleteHey Bonnie! I am a bed quilt girl, and my sons both require large quilts, so i generally shoot for 88" to 108" square...
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful cruise! I am still working on finishing up Celtic Solstice tonight...
Hello Bonnie, tried to comment earlier, so sorry if this is a repeat. I'm hand quilting Baptist fans on the boarder of "I Spy a 4 Patch" tonight. It's for a future nephew. As far as quilt size, I have three kids under 12 so I'm still shooting for twin size, but queen seems to be the go to size when it isn't for a child. I'm excited for the mystery and I've been checking for men's shirts in my colors when I'm not trying to get UFO's before then. Greetings from Colorado
ReplyDeleteI like to make 100x100 or so. You can use it on any bed, even if you have to fold it. Looking for ways to new mystery, I had my daughter in South Africa choose my colors, charcoal background, medium grey, white, coral teal, cheddar. Thanks for all you do!
ReplyDeleteNo sewing tonight, watching while I make pumpkin cinnamon rolls for my co-workers. I promised a treat in the AM.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say how excited I am for the upcoming mystery. My normal go-to colors are CW's and earth tone. I decided to break the rule and SHOP for the mystery as I wanted to try something new.
My neutrals include black chicken and bird sketches, my aqua has some cats unwinding yarn... This is going to be a FUN quilt. Thank you so much. Travel blessings to you as you begin your last stretch away for the year.
Peace and Joy,
Robin
Hello form Horsham Australia
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie...I think my first comment got lost. Im curious to know if you oeganize your strings in any way or do you just throw them all in together...and what is the smallest piece you use for strings -- when does it stop being a string and become a crumb. Love your work and love quilt cam. Happy travels. - Heather in Rocky Mount NC
ReplyDeletehey bonnie....working on my binding on my talkin turkey quilt. will see you this weekend in mineola..

Wow, I'm so jazzed, I've figured out how to watch you on Quilt Cam on my TV and be able to sew at the same time. This is so cool!!!
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing you in Poway, I had a great time in class and seeing your lecture.!!!
Do you have any hints for first time mystery quilters? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi

Thanks for Quiltcam tonight. Sewing along with you, I managed to finish the last 50 hourglass blocks for my Pfefferneuse quilt and am now trimming the dog ears. It goes so much faster when sewing with friends

ReplyDeleteBonnie, thanks for Quilt Cam. Wouldn't you know it ~ I used to live in Mineola, where Stitchin Heaven is, and I've moved back in May. Now I find out that you are going to be at that store teaching! Oh well, maybe you can come to Weatherford, Texas or Stephenville, Texas sometime and I can catch you there! Have fun on the cruise. Good night ~
ReplyDeletesomething good here :)

Hi, thanks for quilt cam. I like what we call a single quilt size, but you call a twin. I can then add more down a side if I want a double bed size.
ReplyDeleteMy 97 year old Mom loves the quilt at the to of your blog. Which pattern is that? She may get one! Thanks, Bonnie.
ReplyDeleteThanks for quilt-cam. I am watching on Wednesday morning, because I was tied up with a church meeting last night. So glad to "HEAR" that the 4 1/2" Easy Angle Ruler can be used. (I have 2....) I did get the 6 1/2" for this project, and I like hearing why you prefer it. Now, since I have 3 rulers, I am going to try and convince my quiltbee - the "Material Girls" that they should play along with the Mystery!! I will share my rulers so they have NO excuse!!
ReplyDeletedeannelucas - it's Bonnie's 'Split 9 Patch' and found under the Free Pattern tab. If this works - here's the link.
