This afternoon after lunch I took some time to wander a new to me antique mall.
I spotted a familiar bentwood case and got closer to inspect it.
After raising the cover I discovered a machine I had never seen before. It looks like a three-quarter sized machine that's been motorized. There is no belt the motor bushing that's right up against the handwheel to turn the handwheel to sew.
It can't be treadles as is because there is no grill for the belt so that would need a new piece.
However it might be a great candidate for a handcrank!
I've never seen details like this or this brand and I'm greatly intrigued thinking I need to go back and get it!
But for now, my sanity kicks in and tells me enough is enough. For now, anyway.

Pretty Art Deco decals. Is it as clean as it looks?
ReplyDeletea beauty, gave my MIL one like it years ago
ReplyDeleteA real lovely machine... and such a find! Oh, perhaps one day you will open a sewing machine museum to justify even more purchases ;) This lovely machine would probably love to be adopted by you...
ReplyDeleteInteresting! Looks like a fun piece!
ReplyDeleteOoooh...it's pretty! Where did you go?
ReplyDelete(but gurl...you might need an intervention!! LOL!!!)
Guess what, Karen?
DeleteMy maiden name is Karen Newman!!!! AND my cousin Greg Newman married a Karen as well.
Karen Newman Stephen Pollard who lives in Kentucky
lol, you can't save them all, Hasselhof ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think I will check this model out on ISMACS site. http://www.ismacs.net The International Sewing Machine Collector's Society. Hmmmm, maybe you are already a charter member???? lol
ReplyDeleteGood looking machine.

oh, man. I have been shopping, too. My daughter in another state has been searching for a vintage machine capable of zig zag stitches. She's particularly fond of the Rocketeer. Of course, this means I am seeing some I'd like, too. Since I am under-employed (under-earning!) right now, I really can't justify buying one no matter how good the deal, but man of man am I tempted. There are some beauties around, aren't there? Guess I'll just love the one(s) I'm with!!
ReplyDeleteGirl...you are a sewing machine magnet! I CLEARLY don't know where to look!
ReplyDeleteWhy not? It is unusual. And if the price is right, go for it.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of that brand, but it is pretty.
ReplyDeleteI note that you omitted a photo of the Plaza's price tag.
ReplyDeleteIf you bought her you could call it Eloise, after the little girl who lived at the Plaza. (In the books by Kay Thompson.)
Great idea!
DeleteBest name for sure. Love this idea!
DeleteThe Plaza has beautiful Art Deco decals.... so she can not lie about her age.
ReplyDeleteAnother beauty. Did you write down the Serial # so you could look up and see how old it is and where she was made? If not Yes, Definitely go back and see if it is still there. After posting someone might have beat you to it. How much was it?
ReplyDeleteAfter watching you hand crank your Singer, I can see why they electrified these when they could. She is a beauty. It would be fun to see her restored, but I get it about leaving her behind. So many machines, so little . . . space?
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this machine, but it sure is a beauty! I hope you buy it and restore the shine and the wood base is beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteThat's a sweet one. I wonder though, if you make it a handcrank, would the bentwood case still fit over it afterwards??
