Hiking & Shopping Kind of Day!

We left the retreat mostly empty on Friday morning.

Half the ladies went to hit up the quilt shops.

Five of us went to get some steps in down Bear Branch road.

The weekend forecast showed rain moving on in, but Friday promised to be glorious.

We needed to be out in it!

This you can't see in this photo -

The constant fluttering down of leaves as we walked!

This is the kind of early October day that I love.

One mile in, one mile out.  New folks who had never been on a dirt road hike with me before.

The thing we missed? COWS!  There were no cows.  Did they move them to another pasture? Have they gone to market?

One of the hikers said "That's okay, some were up against the fence below the back porch at the inn last evening."

So the retreaters had cow time - it was just me that didn't.

And then those that hiked with me headed to the quilt shops once we were back at the house, leaving only 2 quilters behind who were starting in on dinner and working on their projects in quiet bliss.

Big blue tumblers underway!

More snowflake sections are being built -

I can really see it taking shape now!

Strip sets from the previous day's piecing are turning into bargello panels.

I was leaving about 3:30pm for our chiropractor visit at 4:30pm.  That meant another short-sheeted day to try to get the quilting finished on the string star and get it trimmed up in preparation for binding.

Off the machine and being trimmed up!

I'm using the 1/4'' line on my ruler to be sure I'm leaving 1/4'' beyond the points so they won't be cut off in the binding.

Using the diagonal line to make sure I have square corners.

Today's job: Get the binding, label and sleeve on.

Isn't it the best feeling watching your quilt vision become reality?

Love these borders!

And there are still so many scraps to be put to good use!

There is no need to stop now....or ever!

Today - it's rainy. We are hoping the rain will stop long enough to get over-the-porch-rail photos taken.  The Project Linus Metrolina gals check out Sunday morning. This was their first time at the inn, so let's hope they want to stay longer next time! This time flew by way too quickly.

Some of the ladies are younger and are still working and need to be back to work on Monday...so we'll take what we can get and I'm so glad they have enjoyed their time here.

Any plans for you this weekend?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

It's only logical, right?

No one will remember me fondly for my housekeeping skills.

That's a given!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone -
