Friday In A Nutshell -

Five Rows Down!

On a day where I drove nearly 2 hours one way to pic up my new glasses at Costco in Winston-Salem, I was still able to get a bit of sewing in.

Not much, but I still see progress, and I'm thrilled with how this traditional design is coming along.

I also chose the alternate route to travel giving me more views of the gorgeous autumn splendor as I worked my way down from the mountains to the piedmont.

I think we are at peak color now, or close to it, and with last night's bit of storm and wind, it's falling.

It won't last much longer now.  I just hope it can last until Tuesday when my sister, brother in law and my 12 year old niece come for a visit. It's their first time and it would be great if they could experience fall in SWVA while they are here.

This is where I left things -

I'll get them stitched together today.

While I was away - it was a bag making workshop day!

Just check out the beginnings of these bags made with cute Quiltville Inn Fabric from Spoonflower.

There is also Quiltville (Without the inn part) fabric as well. Check it out!

They really made progress while I was on my glasses retrieval mission.

Back side!

Front side has a zipper pocket!

Some of the insides had pockets and more zippers as well.

Check out the pink!

This blue one is almost done!

Just finishing up the binding on this one!

Multiple pockets inside this one!

I didn't see what pattern they were using, I'll check for that today as I'm sure more bags were finished overnight.

Out plan for fire pit got rained out last night with a storm blowing through around 7pm which was when we would have been lighting the whole thing.  So I'm glad we nixed that one.

Tonight is a friend's birthday dinner so we are hoping we can do the firepit tomorrow night. We'll see.

This also happened!

(And yes, the new glasses are much better!)

This column is slowly growing -

There will be 5 ot 6 of the large motifs in each column, I need to see how long it will get before I decide for sure.  I'm winging this as I go. I'm really liking it so far - it's different.

I'll be taking hexie kits with me to my dad's.  At 86 (87 in February) he is slowing down quite a bit and I have a feeling we'll mostly be sitting on the couch watching TV. Loads of stitching time.

I'll be able to get out for walks around the lakes while he naps, and I'm grateful for any amount of time that we get to spend together.

So into the weekend we go - any fun plans coming your way?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Overnight our temps have plummeted into the 40s and it's perfect for staying inside and quilting!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone -
