I snapped this photo yesterday afternoon after the rain had stopped.
It had come in torrents and buckets overnight.
The rain gauge showed 5.7 inches of rain had fallen during this "event." We need it so badly, so I wasn't complaining. I was just happy that it slowed down to a bare mist by the time the Muddy Creek Misfits were packing up around 10am yesterday.
This weekend flew by so fast! And due to the weather, we opted for no over-the-porch-rail photos.
Star blocks coming together in beautiful autumn hues -
One more row to sew on!
How about a coiled rope witches' hat?
So cute! It reminds me of the sorting hat from Harry Potter.
Great way to piece together layer cake squares!
Pattern is Stella Bella from Bearhug Quiltworks.
I spent my weekend obsessed with this.
Let me clue you in on a little secret:
Little Y seams are NOT HARD. You just have to keep your stitches from crossing into seam allowances.
Because they are short seams, they go faster than you think they will.
This is the perfect place for lesser-loved (ie. UGLY!) scrap squares to go.
And yes, you CAN include browns, blacks and greys and other murky shades in with your brights and it still looks bright and happy.
Are you sure, Mama?
Yes. Yes, I am sure.
Progress so far.
I'm just going to keep going until it says DONE. I'm not sure how long that will be, but I want this one rectangular.
Not sure if there will be borders yet - I'll know when it tells me what to do.
Laundry was run yesterday all day. The last two loads were put into the dryer just before I headed home.
Today I'll fold towel baskets, make beds, get things in order and ready for housekeeper Susan to arrive tomorrow to work her magic.
And a new week begins -
Quiltville Quote of the Day -
Today's page is clean and brand-new. How will you fill it?
What will it say about who you are today?
Happy Monday, folks -

The new quilt is looking great!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog every morning. I don't mind Y seams either-- they're easy to do. Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteI will start my day with quilting, of course. Who knows what the afternoon will bring, but it could be quilting. I have one quilt in progress, and already have ideas running around my mind for another quilt.
