Mark this date. Or yesterday's date as that is when I took this photo.
And today, too - as the temperature won't be that much different but tomorrow we will have highs in the 40s.
We've got to soak up as much porch time as possible!
I was invited to a yummy lunch on the porch yesterday and there was no way I was going to say no.
This is the retreat wall quilt that was made after a previous retreat where we all signed squares.
Except for me. We were out of squares - so I was encouraged to sign the middle. It's great to see everyone back!
I think I have enough Tulip Swirl block kits to keep me busy for a while.
While everyone was still brunch-lunching and soaking up the beautiful porch weather, I walked back through the quilting quarters on my way to the front door...there seems (seams?!) to be a pineapple parade happening in one corner of the room!
Paper piecing for the win!
You don't have to cut your strips to any particular width before sewing them on.
A colorful pineapple runner being bound -
More piecing over here - love the traditional solid red in the center!
Up on the design wall looking like a million bucks!
With Halloween right around the corner there is bound to be something cute and spooky sewing going on.
Pretty in red!
And these in blues and golds -
Teeny tiny little dugout blocks!
I need to watch what is happening in this corner.
You know how I love small piecing.
I just love the sound of a houseful of quilters!
And we are just getting started!
Meanwhile next door -
There were still scraps clogging the cutting table, and that's my excuse for cutting some more.
Why put up the scraps when I can cut them all away?
These little cuties are so quick to cut, and so easy to sew in between the lines of other chain piecing.
And I agree. They look more like cat heads than tulips at this point. I can't unsee it!
Yesterday's sewing: Two half hexagons pieced from kite shapes.
Yesterday's sewing: Two half hexagons pieced from kite shapes.
And yes. I was able to set aside even MORE scraps for this project - anything left over from cutting out Tulip Swirl pieces big enough to cut kites is now in yet "another" bin waiting for the next cutting session.
I also got a text from Costco that my new glasses are ready and I'm thinking I'll head out today and go get those before bad weather comes in overnight.
And tonight is what will likely be our last firepit of the year! Maybe. We'll see.
Will I get any sewing in today? Sometimes a day off is needed.
