A Bit of This, A Bit Of That -

How can it be Friday already? Where did this week go?

Tuesday and Wednesday went poof with family time.

Thursday? The October Quiltvillians were just getting started, and projects were already appearing on design walls.

And after getting some mail order out and checking my to-do list - I found I had some time to put together some more kite blocks.

I'm sticking with the layout I'm already going with, but there are so many things you can do with a one-patch quilt!  Somewhere...there has to be kite graph paper out there. Isn't there?

The whole premise of this quilt is "6 kites makes a hexagon." And you can shade them any way you want.

Row 7 is done!

The rows are not in order, I just like laying them out and seeing how things are coming along. I'm trying to keep in mind that the rows are going to really shrink up when I sew them together, so I don't think I'm at half-way yet.

Just keep sewing! There are still scraps to sew down!

Meanwhile at retreat -

There is featherweight maintenance instruction going on!

I love a room full of vintage machines just humming away.

Any guesses what this is?

If you guessed Waterford you are correct!

I bet Kimmy has this together before over-the-porch-rail time!

There are some sweet Mabel's Choice blocks up on the design wall!

Log cabin blocks, and some that chain - these are being made using a son's military uniforms. What a keepsake!

Scrappy Mountain Majesties is always a favorite. From the Free Patterns tab.

We also love seeing finishes brought back after machine quilting!

Cathy quilted up three quilts for Rebecca and brought that back ready to bind...I love this kitty!

Friendship stars from a cute quilt kit - perfect for a little one.

And just in time for the holidays!  This will brighten any room, and be perfect to snuggle with on the couch all through the season. Even while stitching down binding!

Kimmy shared this fun circle up quilt - the focus fabric was a "cheater" print and it cut up looking like crumbs.

A loved one's husband passed and she made this quilt top and several pillows for family members with the shirts she was given.

I love the heard design!

Up and over and off to Marion.

I took off about 2:30 yesterday to drive to Marion for my deep tissue massage, still working on that between-the-shoulder-blades problem area.  We are getting there.  It was a MUCH needed 90 minute therapy session.

I'm loving this season of clear blue skies and sunshine - it makes the colors so much more brilliant.  Autumn has really put on a show for us this year.

For the first time in months, I can actually see the sunrise over the ridges since the leaves are thinning out.

I hate to see summer go, but at least it's going with quite the show of color.

Today - more sewing of course!  And I'm so excited that our intro post to this year's mystery is only about a week away now.  Are you getting excited?!?!  I hope you'll participate!

We are off like a firecracker with our Festival PDF pattern release and Gift-Away!

I am so anxious to see what you do with this one. Whatever colors and fabrics you choose.

Bonnie, Yes there is a source for Kite graph paper! While researching kite patterns and rulers, I found a shop in Paducah, Kentucky, called Paper Pieces. They offer a Kite graph paper you can download for free. They have just about everything you could possibly need for EPP along with graph paper for various patterns. I'm like a kid in a candy store at their site!

Well, shoot! I'm sorry Bonnie, I just went to the paperpieces.com website and while they have every imaginable size of kite templates, their design graph is not what I thought I remembered. It's Einstien's Tile. Most other shapes have just the shape repeated like graph paper. I'm sorry I was wrong!

That heart quilt made with a man’s shirts is beautiful. I just love the way the quilter placed the different colours.
