Happy Monday, folks!
What a full up-to-the-brim fun quilting weekend we had!
Irene's Sewciologists were busy with quilt construction, new projects started, other projects reaching top stage, fabric and dog-ears flying.
It was happy productive mayhem with a dash of dirt road hikes and much back porch time included.
Perfect!
My weekend involved finishing up the border units I had started last week.
Under the direct supervision of Hazel...who may have thought that playing with the fabrics as they came out the back of the machine was just what this was all about.
These borders were going on! And they fit perfectly.
Of course, a victory lap was celebrated after a good pressing.
I am a huge fan of stay stitching around the outside edge of ANY quilt top. Even one with straight cut borders...it adds stability, keeping the borders from stretching and flaring and will keep any seams from popping back open during the quilting process.
It's worth the thread it takes to do it!
Finally ready for quilting!
And yes, I took it next door to celebrate my own top finish.
It's nice to be included in the group show & share moments.
And there were several!
Check out this cutie Bjorn Bear top!
Another wonderful pattern by Elizabeth Hartman.
Strawberries!
This is her own design, no pattern available.
Barrister's Blocks in blue are coming along -
This shade of blue is so happy.
Such a great way to focus a larger print.
This quilt is called Elegance and it's from the Big Block 3 yard quilts book.
County Clare even has borders!
From this.....
To this!
(with one corner to finish but fabric is at home.)
This is Colorful Cathedral and came as a kit.
And here's where you need to pay attention to Facebook Marketplace because this quilt kit was purchased from another quilter for the right price of $25.00. How could she NOT snatch it up and make it?
She said there is a ton of fabric left over as well - so even if you aren't going to make the quilt that the kit was cut for - look at it as a real fabric value where you can use the fabric in anything you want, any way you want.
Quite a few times I've bought discounted quilt kits just for the fabric that is in them.
Quilters on a dirt road hike!
We headed over to Round House Road on Saturday after lunch to hike along the river, up the side of the hill and along the creek that flows beside it...all the way up to the VA/NC state line.
Our water levels are so low!
The waterfall was barely flowing.
Straddling state lines!
It was still so worth getting out and getting a couple of miles in. We treat our bodies right so our bodies will continue serving us and allowing us to keep quilting.
String Rings are appearing everywhere!
I love them in blue/white!
I'm watching folks dig in over at our Quiltville’s Open Studio group and it's so exciting to see what other visions folks have for their own String Rings projects.
Did you see this happen? Did you get your entry in?

I don't know why it works this way, but it does.
Today: Rain incoming!
We need it so badly, so I'm not complaining.
The quilters will keep on quilting - it's their last full day of retreat and they head home tomorrow.
Who knows what kind of fabric shenanigans we can get up to in the next 24 hours?
