More From Vancouver!

Happy Weekend!

It didn't seem possible, but time is flying here.  It's already Saturday - I've been here nearly a week.

I came prepared to do lots of sitting, but I've also gotten out and about - some with Jason as he feels able, and some with just myself as he rests and naps.

I do know one thing for certain - I was not made to sit still. Even Jason knows this.

I have busied myself with meal planning and prep, and getting in a walk here and there.

And still - there has been loads of sitting on my butt hand sewing hexies. I came prepared!

I even got to the point where I had enough large motifs to start joining them into the next diagonal row with the small motifs.

Yes - I brought all the parts and the whole mothership with me.

The last longest diagonal row!

From here things will taper down to the bottom corner.

We binged Outland Blood of My Blood on Jason's Starz app.  I've wanted to watch it but didn't have access to Starz.  Bonus!

By bedtime on Friday I had made it this far in joining that diagonal row to the mothership. Just about half way with hours and hours left to go.

I kept telling myself this was the last longest row...and things will get easier from here.

Close up...

The thing about hexies - and this is a life lesson as well.  Even though the edges are not straight and you don't know how it's going to all fit together, you just have to focus on one hexie at a time. Joining it to another, corner to corner.  Then readjust and go to the next corner, and the next hexie side to the next hexie side.

And before you know it...

Progress has happened one hexie side at a time and you can see how things are coming together.

There are still 15 large motifs to make.  I only had 12 kitted up to bring with me, but that's likely enough to see me through at least December.

Then there are borders to work out.

I'm okay with that - I'd rather keep an ongoing project that I know about going along that have to figure out another handwork project on the fly.  Just keep working on the one you already have in progress.

More Vancouver color from yesterday afternoon's walkabout.  I'm in love with the trees!

Don't forget to look up from underneath!

Some flowers are still blooming!

This one is so gorgeous!

And since it's Saturday - let's draw for the three winners in our Summit St. Gift-Away!

Summit St Shop is in Webberville, Michigan!  Are you within driving distance?

They spent a year and a half renovating a historic church building into a storefront open to the public..

Summit St Shop carries quilting fabric, of course - but also decor, gifts and more!

And yes, you can order online. Summit St Boxes are currently on sale as well, and there is free shipping on orders over $75.00 within the USA.

As to our weekend here - what's the plan?

We are thinking of wandering around the farmers market today for our daily get out and about.  Just some easy walking for Jason.

There are some groceries to pick up and then of course...I'll be back stitching hexies while we watch something intriguing. A nice easy weekend ahead.

How about you?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

However you spend your weekend, I hope you get some time to spend with needle, thread, fabric and fun.

Create something beautiful.

Have a super Saturday, everyone!

Your autumn pictures are so gorgeous, thank you for sharing. Leaf season was disappointing this year in Maine, mostly golds, probably because of the drought. Your hexie quilt will be very impressive when you get to the finish line. — Sue

I love autumn trees! The red ones are gorgeous, but it is always the glowing yellow ones making the trunks look black in contrast that stop me in my tracks. Best to you and to Jason. Angelia
