Vancouver - Out & About!

Hey Peeps!  It's been a few days since I checked in -

And here are some scenes from my weekend in Vancouver!

Friday, Saturday, Sunday weather was WONDERFUL and we did our best to choose one outing per day to get some fresh air and some walking steps in.

Walking is the best thing for Jason's healing right now.

Did you know?  Your brain's mental health depends on key systems:
• Neurotransmitter balance • Stress hormone regulation • Neural growth factors • Blood flow to brain regionsWalking affects all of them.

And on Saturday there is no better place to walk around than the Farmer's Market!

Loads of folks enjoying the day, fabulous vendors displaying their wares.  We enjoyed a bite at the food vendors - so fabulous!

And then we came back so Jason could lie down for a nap.  He tires easily, but I'm glad that he is resting when he needs to.

In front of the Portland Museum of Art.

Another fun outing and would have been great on a day when the weather was a bit more iffy - but as it turned out it was a wonderful day,  Beautiful priceless pieces of art, some dating back to the 1200s. Fantastic.

And then we headed over to a Vietnamese places for lunch - yummy!

Yes, son, I know that I can't get things like this living in my very rural corner of the middle of nowheresville - and I'm glad you like city living.

As for me, I'm happy to visit it when I can.

Sunday afternoon walk -

It's a bit dark, but things are backlit in the midafternoon light.

And the flip side!

Walked right under the bridge - I'm on the Vancouver side, on the other side is Portland.

From the opposite side of the bridge -

Some autumn leaves remain, but over the past week many have fallen.  It won't be long until trees are bare.

From behind a tree branch.

I once read that we should take pictures of Everything - from every angle you can see.  It changes things dramatically and you may be surprised at what you actually capture.

Little Japanese gate -

Don't forget to look up!

The Salmon Run bell tower and glockenspiel in Vancouver, Washington's Esther Short Park

Not posters!

These are actually painted on the wall even through they look like paper posters glued on!

I thought this was perfect for today's Veteran's Day post.

So where am I now?

I'm so grateful I was able to come spend time with Jason as he heals from brain surgery.

I'm even more grateful to be his mom as yesterday was his 42nd birthday!

His girlfriend is coming to spend a few weeks with him so we are swapping places and I am off to Phoenix to go spend some time with my dad.

On my leg from Portland to LAX, the lady behind me: "Excuse me but are you doing EPP?"
I love finding other Quilters in random places!

Landing on a beautiful afternoon in Los Angeles.

And as soon as I am able to take my phone off of airplane mode in comes a text from Delta letting me know that my connecting flight has been delayed 141 minutes.  Oh no! (But expected with the Government shut down.)

I found a place to get some lunch and halfway through lunch another test -

Your flight will depart 140 minutes EARLIER.

Hurry, finish lunch, run to gate....we ended up leaving as close to originally on time as we could - considering.

From the California coast -

To the Arizona Desert -

And I slept most of the flight.

I'm here with my Dad until the 18th. Kadie is with Jason.  All is well.

And yes, there are more hexie motifs to stitch while I'm here.

Meanwhile back home in Southwestern Virginia.....snow. UGH.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

To our men and women in uniform, past, present, and future - We thank you.

Hug a veteran!

Happy to be here spending some time with my dad.

Have a terrific Tuesday, everyone!
