From Cairo to Dublin!

There are still a mess of photos from adventures in Ireland - two back to back tours of about 40 people each - a wonderful time to really enjoy the Emerald Isle and wonderful cool temperatures and so much green after the intense heat and ever present sand color of Cairo.

This is a crazy year for make up travel - all of those tours that were delayed due to Covid are getting caught up! And that means that sometimes the best way to do them is with as few flights crossing back and forth over the Atlantic as possible.

So, Cairo to Dublin I went - half way home!

Oh GREEN!!

I felt so much luck that "Claritin Clear" commercial....the green was so wonderful to see, not to mention all of those patchwork-y fields below.

I got in the afternoon before my group was arriving the next morning so that gave me a jump on resettling the body clock.

Poor folks - flew all night and now on a bus across Ireland from Dublin to Galway.

Shhhh....let them sleep.  There are many adventures ahead!

Our first view of Galway bay through the bus window -

The promenade is busy and bustling!

COLOR! SO MUCH COLOR!

We spent some time just wandering through the famous Latin Quarter - folks were awake and energized, ready to explore some shops, find a pub for a bite and a beverage.

Street musicians! So fun!

This is so dramatically different from Egypt!

The weather was wonderful - temps in the high 60s maybe?

The rows of close buildings with flags flying captivated me.

Grabbing a quick selfie.

We are in Galway!

We spent quite a bit of time in the wool shop -

And everywhere we turned, Aran sweaters - gorgeous!

Can you feel how festive this is?

It's a Sunday afternoon and everyone is out and about.

I just adore Galway.

If I were ever to relocate to Ireland, somewhere near Galway is what I would choose.  Not too big.  Not too small.

And purple buildings are encouraged!

And this one - like a wedding cake!

Tile floors underfoot.

Quilt inspiration everywhere -

I see Ohio Stars!

This quickly became my favorite -

Strawberry Lime cider - perfect for summer.

Back at our hotel for our welcome dinner.

This is a big group!

Sunset on the promenade.

We awoke the next morning to this - and since we had a later "on the bus" time there was an opportunity for a morning walk along the promenade.

Evidently the water was at 64 f degrees and there were early morning swimmers doing their mourning swimming routine thing.  Too cold for me!  Especially when I was just coming from 115 degrees in Egypt.

Silly morning selfie -

Notice the sweaters?

The beginning of a beautiful Galway day.

And more colorful buildings in the morning from our walk -

Because - you can't see a cheddar building and not take a photo!

And this was just our first morning - we were just getting started on our week long tour with group one.

Going through these photos has me really looking forward to Poland and Italy in September.

Which will be followed by New Zealand in January.

Trips for Scotland and Kenya are also going up on the website soon - I'll let you know when those are ready for signups.  Spaces will go quickly.

Back here in the now - Chris's Christmas in July group departed yesterday morning.

It was a Tuesday of flipping laundry and making things ready for the July Quiltvillians arriving this afternoon.

What's going on behind the scenes?

If this photo is any indication, be prepared for plenty of dog ear trimming! Hahahah!

Things are coming along - but it's not easy to keep things out of sight.  I'm doing my best to keep things a secret!  Halloween is not that far away and you'll have yardage requirements, colors and background info.

Are you counting down?

It's a hit!  Thank you so much!

Bonnie, I love reading all about your travels! I may have to join you one of these days. Could you tell me what brand are the headphones you're wearing when you were on the bus to Galway, Ireland? They look very comfortable! Thanks, Patty

  4. for your sake, i was delighted to have left Egypt behind (in my vicarious travels w/y'all) I did wonder tho... way back 2, 3, 4 thousand years ago, what was the climate like then??? Ireland is one of my faves, too, never been, probably in my next life? My travel days are in the past, but my enjoyment of your photos and folks continues, thanks for sharing... Cats in Carlsbad CA
