From THIS --- to THIS!

BEFORE:

studio 024

AFTER:

studio 025

I have sorted and pitched and organized and put away and filed and dusted ----

I’m still not ready to sit and sew yet, but it’s getting close!

Boy, does this feel GOOD!

Your "before" looks much better than my sewing area - I'd settle for the before. The after looks great.

I agree, Sarah... the 'before' almost looks better than mine does after I've cleaned; purge is not in my quilting room vocabulary - just move from there to here.

  3. Would you please come and do my studio?
And has anybody an explanation why our studios get the more messed up the less we get in there????

So glad somebody else can have an "out of control" sewing room! Mine is nearing that state.....

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who uses their Longarm table to organize and sort on.

  8. You inspired me to get busy with my sewing area. I teach and only have two weeks to get organized.

  9. Wahooo Wahoooo! Great job Bonnie! A full motivated dutiful day (for BOTH of us) will hopefully lead to a relaxing, SEWING day tomorrow (or soon!)

My stuff is organized...,in rubbermaid bins because we are moving! I ended up donating a good chunk of leftover fabric (felt, minky, chenille, fleece) and a couple quilt blocks that I made, from a block swap (I had 3 extras). It was pretty daunting!

I quit making list when I retired. That should be a hint. You have inspired me. Make a list and the first item is marked off--done. And it had been bugging me for days. Thanks

What a great accomplishment! Love the quilt in front of your stencils. Is that new or does it just look new?
    Take care,

    1. I think that is an ironing board cover that looks like a quilt. It is nice though.

  13. I'm moving my sewing room across the hall back to my bedroom. Boomerang kids coming back with baby and two dogs. I'm feeling a little stress trying to find new homes for everything. I had 4 closets for fabric, and now it just has the piled higher and deeper look. Maybe if I give away all my clothes I can put fabric in there.

    1. Oh I love the visual on that one.... if you ran around naked, or wore the same shirt/pants/robe day in and day out would they leave sooner???? Happy that you can be there for your family! so many people won't, can't& don't!

  16. Very impressive! I need to re-organize my sewing room and put the fabric away correctly instead of just heaping it where ever. Maybe I'll get that cleaning bug on Friday....hope so.

that looks great! now can you find anything? every time i clean and put things away i can't find half my stuff........rulers, yes they hang on the wall, projects, doesn't matter i misplace something for months, sometimes for years! makes me crazy! it seems i do better with everything laying about. my quilting machine is in the other room so i don't lay things on it. but my sewing and cutting rooms (they are small small small) are always a mess. it's only when i clean and put things away do i have trouble...i know it takes all kinds.

  18. LA storage! I am not alone!!!

  19. I find myself using my Quilting Table for another Horizontal storage place too. We are among friends always - us Quilters. If I wasn't so tired from having Grandchildren here for 3 days I'd jump on the Band Wagon of clearing space. Enjoy your space to play!

  20. First thing I noticed in the "after" pic was that you use your long arm surface for more than gathering dust. The APQS folks make you think that is holy space or something!

Doesn't a clean studio make you just feel so good? Whenever I get mine all restored I get a sense of energy and excitement about the next project.

  21. How much room do you really need for that 'baby'? looks liek you have total movement around it front and back. I really want one, but have to convince someone to take up less space in the house somewhere. what's he need the garage(5 car), barn, spare tiny bedroom, and basement for any way???

I've got to clean my seeing room and have planned to start NEXT week. I've not done any sewing or quilting all summer. Now that FALL (I so hope) is just around the corner, I want to start off with a clean sewing room. My long arm is in another room and I keep it cleaned off, but the sewing room, OYE!

  25. I need to do that too, but it has been a crazy summer and quilt show is in one week....maybe after that?

Every time I clean my sewing area I can't find anything but if I leave it alone I can put my finger right on what I am looking for. Go figure,it makes no sense.

  27. Just face it ... there's no good way to keep a quilt room looking organized. (Unless you don't actually use it) -- LexingtonQuilter

  28. I'm more interested in the top you have folded over the rail - is that something we will be seeing soon? ;))

  29. Wow -- you dusted? Now, that's deep cleaning!

  30. Is it time to sew yet???

  31. Did anyone notice that it got dark outside? He, he, he! It would have to get dark and light two or three times to find the bottom of my studio! Good thing no one else goes in there but me!

  32. Oh, I really have a great deal of straightening and de-cluttering to get to! Congratulations to you.
