Ever since I discovered your site several years ago, I've been addicted to making scrappy quilts! My husband calls them "garbage quilts" because he threatened to throw my 15 year collection of scraps in the garbage unless I started to use them.
I used your "scrap users" system to get them organized and now they get used regularly. I still think that they reproduce in the bins when I'm not looking!
Susan, Congrats to you! This issue will be winging it’s way to you as soon as you email me back with your snail mail address.
Thanks everyone for playing along!
And just to celebrate a bit with Susan --- here’s something that was emailed to me along with the caption of
“This is an example of what can happen if boys don’t have a video game!”Holy Bluegrass, Batman! My toes are a tappin’!
Oh my goodness, how cute! I think the thing I loved the best was their playing this with the model of the space ship there on the bedside --- and normal “boy mess” scattered about the floor. I love the happiness of a house full of music!
And it’s a good thing that this is lifting my spirits because ----
I thought I was doing so great working on the borders for Florabunda --- I sewed my strip sets together, loaded up the accuquilt to sub-cut them….all nice and neat ----
You might not even notice at first glance that something is terribly wrong here -----
Do you see it? Look at the few that have wandered astray and are flipped loose of their rows ----
*FACE PALM*
I just cut the whole mess of 4 patch parts with the 1.5” die --- instead of the 2” die. AUUUUGHGHGHGHGHGH!
Back to the drawing board!! ((And I guess I’ll have to design something with rectangular 4 patches at SOME POINT…..but NOT TODAY!))
Ouch.......sorry about your miss cuts.
ReplyDeleteDarn! did you do them all?
Happy Sewing :0)
GHASP! They were fantastic! I love little musicians! At least they made you smile when you were frowning over your oops!! ;-P
ReplyDeleteWhoopsie! Some days you're the windshield, some days the bug.
ReplyDeleteHoly Banjo Picking, Robin!! Those young men are really good.
ReplyDeleteYesterday was my day for miss cuts, though not nearly as many as you produced. Sorry, makes ya want to cry!
Congrats to your newest winner....you are such a peach for all the give-aways you have. Thanks loads, Bonnie.

Aw man! I hate it when I do that! Maybe you could modify or re-size the border to use the misfits. I'm picturing the miles and miles of border that you made from some red string blocks - maybe miles and miles of funky four-patches? ;))
ReplyDeleteOh no! Been there, done that, like every other quilter alive I suppose :*) Don't that just trip your trigger?
ReplyDeleteThose Murphy moments are the worst! I'm sure you'll make something awesome out of them though.
ReplyDeleteI'm still working on my strips and squares. 30 years of scraps here, plus my mom's stash is taking a while. I think I'm going to stop cutting some of the squares on the die cut though. I realized I'm loosing the strings and edge bits that way.
Was making a cushion for a customer, just cut a 3" boxing strip, should have been 4", luckily I had enough to make a new one but will include a seam Ramona from Maine sewnsew@live.com
ReplyDeleteExactly something I would (and) do.
ReplyDeleteNever a mistake... just a new path for your moccasins to tread. It happens to everyone who does anything. If you do not have any of these think of the opportunity you would have missed. Love the strip sets <3
ReplyDeleteAwww...I feel for your mis-cut. At least my last "oopsie" was fixable with a little un-sewing. Time to take a break when that happens!!!
ReplyDeleteThere are no mistakes in quilting. Just design opportunities :) That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Been there, done that! Feeling your pain. Mine was the entire quilt. Gonna be a lot smaller than I originally planned.
ReplyDeleteThe best of us make those mistakes. Maybe not quite so bad though. You will use them for something.
ReplyDeleteDon't be sorry, those things happen to me all the time.I know you'll make something very nice out of it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter!
Hugs,
Teresa
I see more "crumb" quilts in your future--I hate it when I do that--AND--I do do that :-(....Happy Easter" Julierose
ReplyDeleteOuch.
ReplyDeleteLoved watching the boys...got a kick out of how big the banjo was on the little 9-year old...but he sure could play!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting - have a wonderful Easter!
Judy
Great toe tapping music!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the mis-cuts, but I know they will show up in a wonderful quilt.
Happy Easter
What's wrong with rectangular 4 patches?? I am doing l&e's that will be called "all 4 patches are not square". Sew,....
ReplyDeleteBev (kwiltpharm@aol.com)
Now that's something I do all the time. I measure 2 twice and cut wrong anyway. Just means I have to use it for some other project. ;o)
