Happy Monday, folks!
Still alive and kicking over here - and yes, still taking the Hunter Shuttle from the top of the drive to the bottom where the cars are parked in order to get out and about anywhere.
It's winter.
It's just what we have to do around here, though with a warm up coming over the next week, we should be able to drive the cars back up to the top again.
Any amount of being shuttled down the drive in order to take the van to the QPO studio over the weekend was worth it - both Saturday and Sunday because - I had THIS to finish!
I quilted with a beige/gold thread in an edge to edge design called Field of Dreams by Patricia Ritter of Urban Elementz.
I'd had this panto for a long time, but this was the first time using it and I love how it turned out.
I also love this quilt - the whole thing. It's got some really early fabrics in it - including a piece from the dress I made for my first Dave with Dave back in 1981.
It's got some calicos I bought when Jason was little, before Jeff came around.
It has modern fabrics and traditional fabrics all the way up to today. I love the combos.
I did have to trim 3/4'' off the border because when the machine was misbehaving I made a couple of holes toward the edge of the border while trying to remove said bad stitching.
There is one spot that is a bit farther in that I will just mend with needle and thread and call it part of the journey of this quilt.
Next up - binding!
And look who I caught coming out of the heated kitty kondo when I came up the walk to feed them breakfast!
While the machine was running I was able to piece, trim and de-paper some more of these little guys -
I'm at about 300 now!
And still more to go -
Flash and Tula are sharing the heated insides together and keeping each other dry and warm.
That's a good thing because this is what I woke up to this morning. It was 5f!!!!! 5!!!
I zipped out the sliding glass door to take this photo. At least it is sunny and the sun is everything right now.
I'm waiting for things to warm up a bit before we take the shuttle down the drive to warm up the van so I can go back and feed the porch kitties and take care of things.
There will be a quilt to snuggle under and binding to stitch down tonight!
Quiltville Quote of the Day -
I foresee loads of binge TV watching and holiday movies and staying inside with hand stitching in my near future.
I wish I could remember whose top this was - I took a photo years ago - but here's another idea for using up really small scraps.
Stitch a neutral fabric to either side of a strip, and trim them down to a common size as in rail fence.
some colored strips are pieced! I love this one - if it is yours, please contact me with a picture of the full quilt - I'd love to share it!
Happy Monday, everyone -

It’s been bitterly cold here in Wisconsin. Already had lots of snow. My winters are filled with lots of quilt making and binding and now binge watching Christmas movies while binding. Love the quilt you just are finishing. Looks like a great project for using up all the fabric I have cut up and stored following your system for many years, thanks for that!
ReplyDeleteIf I look carefully I find Miracles every Christmas season. This year it is Jason Hunter's BENIGN lab report and good journey through his care and surgery and parents' travel and support. Bonnie, your blog is a joy every day.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt and those colors are so soothing. The pano just makes the quilt. Wow! Just fantastic.

What is the quilt pattern? That's beautiful! Marla
ReplyDeleteHi from Spokane WA, we are being rained in this past several weeks, your deep chill and sunshine actually appeals to me right now! I love the way your brain works on these scrappy quilts, you always inspire me. Don't know when I'll be getting to it but my scrap stash goes back to 1978 when my first daughter was born. I can't part with those bits and chunks of fabric that hold so many memories so someday there will be a few more quilts. Mary J
ReplyDelete"Red One" now my favorite Christmas movie. Highly recommend.
ReplyDeleteSo happy that you see the end of nastiness in sight and are enjoying winter.
