I sat on the front porch this morning - my favorite hickory rocker, a hot cuppa in my Iceland mug in one hand.
Dawn arrived with much birdsong and the lovely Brigadoon feel of morning fog.
Oh, it will all burn away, but this is all thanks to the rain that fell yesterday afternoon and giving us much of the cool-down that we have been longing for after the past week of heat on the East Coast.
This is the light of faeries -
And I could hear the deer crunching through the woods below. Just such a beautiful cool morning to start a brand new week.
What happened over the weekend?
A large gift bag of neutral shirt parts and pieces arrived from my friend Carrie. I'm so excited!!
After the finish of my Open Window quilt, I was dreadfully lacking in any kind of neutral shirt string variety - so this will inspire me to keep going on the next one, whatever that one is.
Meanwhile in the quilting quarters - beautiful quilts are still happening!
I love walking in and hearing music playing over the soundbar, along with several discussions and spontaneous laughter coming from every corner!
I wish I could blame everything on voice to text, autocorrect or the universe being off kilter.
Mostly it's these old eyes and it sometimes takes me three times to catch the typos, weird capitalizations, and wrong there their they're before my posts are fit for public consumption.
It's a good thing we can still find humor in almost everything!

These cute posies are found in this book:
There are so many cute projects in here!
Cute and colorful holiday stockings!
And I spy the beginnings of Waterford making an appearance!
This baby quilt is also super cute!
And we have a new mascot!
He is destined for the front porch after quilting and binding.
Have you tried making a Jelly Roll Rug?
This will actually b e a set of summer placemats.
Here's the pattern.
This is going to be fabulous!
It's called "Chained Nine Patch."
The beginnings of a pink/white Hunter's Star!
Bits and pieces for something fantastic!
I love these fabrics and colors -
All that magic is happening here!
Borders are on and I can't wait to see the whole thing -
Over the porch rail photos will happen this afternoon!
Meanwhile in the QPO Studio -
I'm having fun playing with pinks and oranges and how fun is this combo? Bees and flowers. End of June. Right on time!
Press. Cut. Sew. Press. Trim.
I can't wait to show you this one...but I need to make about 6 more blocks and get things together.
There are so many wonderful projects coming up that I am getting ahead of myself!
Our next Leader & Challenge is ready for later this week. Be watching for that!
July also brings my Abbeygate PDF pattern to release time. Press those reds and neutrals and get them ready to cut!
Quilts on TV!!
I need brainless TV while I sew - things that I can "mostly listen to" instead of having to watch carefully, but you can bet that I caught these two quilts while streaming Bergerac (The 1980s version!) on Brit Box.
The show takes place on Jersey in the channel islands, somewhere I know little about and would love to visit some day.
1980s tv is pretty lame - but hey, they tried! LOL!
Still, I enjoy watching (mostly) shows with older cars, fashion, music, and older technology - no computers really, no cell phones, no having to read text messages on the screen (that I can't read) and if there is a foreign agent, like the Russians - they speak English with a Russian accent so I don't have to stop and read subtitles.
Perfect for quilting!

Last day of June - what will you do with it?
Have a marvelous Monday, everyone!

Good morning 🌞
ReplyDeleteNice pictures of nature.
Lots of lovelies being made at the Inn. At the QPO too. What could it be?!
I went through my Old Town parts just to see where I'm at. I'm ready to start part 4 when I'm done stitching this piece I'm working on.
That's not too bad.
Have a. Sparkling day
Blessings 🙏❤️
Funny you should mention your difficulty with reading typed words because I had to read your first sentence several times to comprehend “hickory rocker”. I kept reading “my favorite history rocker” and I was trying to figure out what the heck you were talking about! I enjoyed the first photo you showed from the Quiltville Inn! That was my view from my sewing machine everyday (i sat at that specific table) when I was there in March…..what a glorious week to do nothing but sew.
ReplyDeleteFrank is so cute! I used to work at a barge towing company on the Illinois River. One of the deck hands called the Blue Herons Frank and hubby and I still do. Fond memories. What is the pattern companies name?
ReplyDeletePink Parakeet Designs (in the upper corner of the picture. Pat
DeletePink Parakeet Designs. I was thinking of looking it up, too.
DeleteI can so relate to today's quote! :-)
ReplyDeleteToday is our middle daughter's 44th birthday. Time sure does fly by!
Love your pinks and oranges together, and the many beautiful projects by quilters. Happy Monday, Jenny
Happy Monday. It's a road trip day again. I wish I was stitching. Yep to the Quote today. And the mistake in the Quilt picture only shows after you post it. Great Quilts. Love the Waterford block.
ReplyDeleteThe lead character in the older Bergerac programs is the same actor as the Tom Barnaby detective in Misommer Murders—John Nettles. Both great shows.
ReplyDeleteI can "taste" that pink fabric. Tastes like Double Bubble or Bazooka. Does it have jokes printed inside? "Double Bubble" would be a cute name for a pink quilt. But I don't know about a combo of Double Bubble and cheddar Eeek!
ReplyDeleteI made a jelly roll rug once for a friend. It was a lot of work (and challenging) to keep it flat, but I loved it. I have the materials to make another one, but haven't gotten up the guts to start it. I want one for myself. Such beautiful quilts in the making. It's motivating me to get busy!
ReplyDeleteLove your quote of the day! So true!
ReplyDeleteI usually 'hit sned' before my first cup of coffee and laugh about it later. Life is too short to fret over untimely 'sneds'. We all need a good laugh anyway.
