Fill The Design Walls!

There has been a whirlwind of quilting activity happening through the weekend at Quiltville Inn!

Cutting tables, pressing tables - even layouts happening in the front foyer and dining room.

Every available space is covered by pieces, parts, blocks and tops.

The weather only became decent enough to get out for a walk yesterday (Sunday) afternoon...so the quilters have had plenty of machine time to put thread to fabric and make beautiful things happen!

There's a whole lot of Frolic happening here!

I am loving seeing it come together in purples pinks and limey yellow-greens!

Silk Path in reds is coming together in this corner -

Remember the cute and small black sawtooth stars from Saturday's Post

They are the centers of bigger star blocks to become:

Kim Diehl's Spangled quilt!

Moonflower is coming together here.

And this sweet Unity quilt is nicknamed Pink Lemonade!

(Because when life hands you lemons.....)

Old Town now has its borders!

Pink hearts with warm toasty neutrals.

And a whole box of Sandcastle blocks from String Frenzy

Can you spot the one four-patch that by now is already fixed?

And all of that was BEFORE Sunday Brunch was served!

And it just so happened I was walking into the kitchen when that loud pop was heard and the champagne cork went flying.  LOL!

Morning Glories blocks are also appearing -

Check out the fun neutrals! Love them!

And more giant flower blocks. Love it!

This one is called Zinnia Seeds. So prety!

I headed down the back stairs heading below the porch....catching this glimpse of Flash all "tucky feeted" and hanging out.

Later on in the afternoon he was found sunning himself on the low brick wall. I think he's found his happy place, even if he is still a bit skittish -

Bear Branch blocks are happening here!

Speaking of Bear Branch - a handful of us were able to break away yesterday afternoon for a road hike.  It doesn't take long, only about an hour to get 2 miles in. We needed it!

However, we did not need THIS!

Black snakes are good snakes.  They take care of rodents, and they will take down copperheads. I just don't like to be surprised by them.

We gave this guy a wide berth, and he was gone by the time we hit our turn-around point and headed back.

Cute grass puppies!!

They were all so curious -

I love seeing the young ones!

It was a fun, full weekend. Not sure I'm ready to hit the ground running yet.

This morning we have group photos planned, this afternoon we'll do the over-the-porch-rail bit.

Things will start to wind down as today is the last day for the June Quiltvillians.

And then I head off to Iceland on Saturday!  Have I begun to pack? NO!

I hope everyone had a good weekend, and got some stitching in.  Or at least some planning and hoping.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Please! Don't Clean Up My Mess --You'll Confuse Me and Screw Up My World!!

From my memories 12 years ago!

Not much has changed, evidently.

Have a marvelous Monday, everyone!

  1. Hi Bonnie, I just returned from Iceland! You will love it! A few tips, layer your clothing, waterproof hiking boots are recommended for the waterfalls hikes as well as collapsible walking sticks if you have them. Definitely rain jacket, waterproof or quick dry pants and a net hat or beekeepers hat for lake Myvatn if you make it up that way, there are swarms of bugs! Bathing suit and sunscreen for the blue lagoon. Have a blast and looking forward to see your posts about it!

Enjoy Iceland! The pictures I've seen look "out of this world" beautiful!

Today is a first Monday of the month "long day" (noon to 8 pm with a pot luck, instead of the usual 5:30 to 8:30 pm) for one of my quilting groups. TWO new quilts to start, for my daughter and her fiancée in honor of their engagement. Just went over final fabric choices with them over the weekend and eager to get started this afternoon. You'd appreciate that the quilts are Aurora, for Eli, and Lupine, for Lori, the two cover quilts on Gudrun Erla's Quilts of Iceland book.

  3. Yikes, Snakes! Yes, I got a Flimsy done. Love all the Design Walls filled. Glad the rain stopped so you could get out and about. I remember making Frolic and staring Unity in 2020. Happy June!

  4. Love seeing all the variety of different colorways of your patterns. Reminds me of all the quilts I've yet to make. Oh, my! That snake would have really startled me - he's huge!

  5. Enjoyed today's blog. So busy. No I didn't spot the misaligned 4-patch. No I don't need snakes in my path either but they are part of the cycle of life. Yes who doesn't love a lounging kitty in the sun. And Yes who doesn't love curious calves. I do enjoy the quilt block, they are so well done! Keep up the good work!

  6. So happy that Flash is becomming more and more at ease.
Many, many beautiful projects going on at Quiltville Inn! I'm jealous of the gal who has her borders on Old Town. I'm finally ready to sew my blocks and sashings together. I have Kim Diehl's Spangled pattern and want/need to pick some fabrics and get it started. These are examples of why I love seeing everyone's projects -- I get reminded of quilts and patterns that I fell in love with.
Thanks for your daily blog, Bonnie! Jenny

  7. I found the three misaligned 4-patches. Having recently gone through 120 Triple-Treat blocks looking for this exact kind of thing, I've got a pretty good system for finding the "free spirits"!

That snake reminds me of Kaa from "The Jungle Book", always complaining about his sciatica.

  8. I had to look 3 times to spot the turned four patch! I must need new glasses because the snake on the road looked like a crack in the road from too much rain or an earthquake! So many beautiful quilts today and lots of inspiration! I added a couple to my list of quilts to make someday!

I saw the crack too, I had to concentrate hard too 'trasform' it into a snake.

Is that snake majorly dehydrated or is it just the way the picture was taken?

Some snakes do that on purpose to make themselves look more like a stick! I'm a fan of snakes, I wish we had more near me.
