May Quiltvillians - In The House!

It's Brunch-on-the-porch season!

And I just love the time of year where we can gather outside and enjoy some fresh air, rock in some rocking chairs, and perhaps moo back to the cows below if they happen to be there.

It doesn't get much better than this!

And even on the inside - there is much creativity and sewing happening.  This pattern is called Long Walk by Sew Kind of Wonderful.

Sew large and so quick, it takes up the design wall on the other side of the room!

Something pretty is happening here!

Lovely bouquet blocks!

It's a Garden Party from my Addicted to Scraps book!

Two cute featherweights a curious owl!

One of our first, fast finishes!

Something fun and wonky is happening here!

Oooooh! NICE!

And there are more blocks in progress....

Something very green and blue is happening here.

It's a Plaidish in progress!

I spy some beautiful Old Town blocks in progress!

This top is bound to be finished by over-the-porch-rail photo time!

I wish this photo came with sound - so you could listen in on the conversations and the spontaneous laughter.  The best.

And all the while this retreat was going on (including at least half the group taking off to hit local quilt shops and a grocery store and more) this was also kicking off:

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the marvelous response to yesterday's Summer Picnic
PDf pattern release and gift-away!

I'm tickled....and I'm even feeling a nudge from the recycled shirt stash that it's time to start up another something fun with all of the shirt plaids, stripes and prints.

And that will be a great help as I'm also working on our July Leader & Ender challenge block.  A new main project will put those new Leader & Ender units to good use.

But in the meantime - Did you get your entry in on that post

We'll draw for our 2 winners on Tuesday, 5/27/25.

The PDF pattern for Summer Picnic is currently 25% off in the Quiltville Store through Saturday 6/31/25. No coupon needed.

Stars For The Win!

Stars and Scraps were meant for each other! Create this stunning star quilt in scrappy plaids from recycled shirts or with your own stash yardage. Piecing options, full color photos and graphics and many tips for easy piecing pleasure included.

Quilt Size: 72’’ X 72’’

I'll be drawing for two lucky winners who will each win a Summer Picnic PDF pattern from me and a Paw Paw's Shirts fabric roll from  Cotton to Quilts.

The Paw Paw's Shirts roll is so cute and will enhance your own fabric stash!

And check out their selection of neutral cotton rolls to add more cute neutral prints to your collection.

Today?  Well, we had a raging thunderstorm roll through about 3am this morning - enough to lose power and have the generator kick on for about 15 minutes - enough to disrupt sleep and make it hard to fall asleep again.

If there ever was a day I'd be sneaking up to bedroom 5 at the retreat for a nap - today would qualify.

I also understand that one of the blinds off the back porch was totally destroyed in the storm, and is all over the ground below - just reported by Jeff by phone call when he arrived to paint.

So it looks like we need 3 new porch blinds and I'm sad because I don't know if we can get the same wooden slatted ones anymore.  We'll see.  Measurements will be taken and we'll start looking.

More sewing will be happening with the retreaters, of course - but I don't think today qualifies as a good day for a hike as things will be far too muddy.

I think it's a low-key day to just let things unfold.  And that's okay with me.

And this happened last night!

I finished stitching down the binding, hanging sleeve and label on Lahinch. I'm looking at this one as a September or October PDF pattern release.  I'm just happy its done.

How about your weekend ahead?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

That's just about right!

Happy weekend, everyone!

  2. My Garden Party is still in the tote I had it in last time I worked on it. I have a In-town Retreat coming up. Gotta find that tote! Today I get to go watch our granddaughter in a Play. Sorry about the Mess made by the weather. Good luck finding the blinds.

  4. HAHA! I was going to finish the quote with "makes you stronger!!!" Then I saw the way you ended it & busted out laughing! I always look forward to the weekend posts! Great job, ladies! Hopefully the hunt for the new blinds won't take too long. Today I bound my Dancing 9 Patch & Triple Treat!! They are done & going out the door tomorrow in time! Whew! :-) Now I can focus on Chilhowie. I need to resize it to fit. Of course I made it too big initially! UGH...
    Anyway, Happy Stitching!!

The pride of home, or retreat ownership is that there’s always something to fix! Take it in stride and keep on quilting. I love your blog and your quilts and hope to finish my Bear Branch someday…
