Snow Day Sew Day Ahead!

Good morning, friends!

I'm starting off this post with a bit of studio clean up while I watch the snow fall beyond the QPO window.

Just look at these two finishes hanging off the long arm rail - it makes me smiley all over!

Old Town on the left, and Huka Falls on the right.

And yes, that's a bucket of your gifted aqua strings behind the take up roller just barely peeking out.

I will be happily digging into your aqua scraps for a long long time and I couldn't be happier!

My job yesterday was to get the kits ready for my upcoming Craftours trip to Australia.

This little quilt is called BLOOM!

I'll be providing the Essex linen and the printed overlay with the embroidery design and a chenille needle.

Quilters will bring their color of embroidery floss or 12 wt thread, a thimble, a needle threader, thread snips and a hoop if they use one.

We'll be working on the embroidery as we travel around the land down under, and they'll be able to add their patchwork borders when they get home.

Handwork projects like this are perfect in size - easy to finish, and easy to bring along for stitching on long bus rides, plane flights or sitting around the hotel lobby and visiting after a day of out and about.

Be looking for the PDF pattern for Bloom to be available in the Quiltville Store in February.

This was Thursday morning when I went to feed Tula.  And yes, Flash has been hanging around a lot more.  In fact, he now has his own food dish.

He won't come close, but at least I know he is not starving.

After making yesterday's kits....I started in on a bit of clean up in the studio with the objective of returning home to a clean space ready for me to dig in and create, but then the snow started coming hard and I made the decision to come home early.

Hubster Dave had already moved the Subaru to the bottom of the drive, and told me to park down there, too.  More snow was coming and it was time to switch into Rzr mode.  It's a good thing he suggested this.  Look what happened:

And this is where we are this morning!

Time to fire up the big red tractor and get the plow blade into action!

Sunrise.  Brrr!

14 degrees f is -10 c, ya'll!

Even this silly girl says NO WAY when I open the door for her.  Smart girl.

I'll be back after we head over to feed Tula and check on things - this will be waiting for me.

I'll finish up doing these....

And maybe i'll be trimming up by evening time.

I'm getting itchy to start putting some blocks together.  Wouldn't that be great to have a few of them up on the design wall so I can come home to them in a few weeks?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

If anyone needs me, I'll be in the sewing room as usual.

What's up for your weekend?

  1. Tula has come a long way from the scared under nurished and unhealthy cat. Such a beautiful cat now and I love to see her in your blogs and also in August when I retreat with you.

  3. Tula is such a pretty kitty! I wish we had a snow day... enjoy it! We have cold coming to South Central Texas. It depends on who you listen to, but the majority are saying just a cold rain. At the very least. Oh well. At least it's getting a little cooler, after our near 80*'s this weekend! I'll be in the sewing room today too after taking a break the last couple of days! Have a wonderful weekend!

  5. There are more teal-ish strings in the post to greet you when you return. I could not bring myself to face the post office during the Christmas rush!

  11. Thanks, Bonnie! I love your snow pics and videos, and really loved seeing Tula pretty girl at breakfast time. Delighted also to hear that Flash has been hanging around, always worry a little about him. Good luck in the snow and best wishes to those who lost their homes during the hurricane as they try to manage the coming cold. You're getting away to warmer places at a good time!

  12. You will be petting Flash by next summer I'm sure of it. Tula will see to that. BTW I love Old Town, I've got it printed, I just can't find the time in retirement lol. But I'm in Ohio , sewing is in my near future as the storm moves through. I have Ginny the whole house Generator like you, no excuse. 🪡

Just a beautiful snowy scene. I sometimes miss it when we have gray and gloomy in N AR. My sewing room is slightly under construction, so my mystery finish will be in the future. I've booked your trip for Europe in Sept. Can't wait!

Bonnie, thank you for the MQ! It was my first this year and loved doing it so much! I was surprised by this as the small and amount of pieces seemed overwhelming at first. But has turned into a bit of addiction now! Can’t wait for next years and Thank you again!

I love your rain chain brought memories of my mothers home where I grew up.. She had my dad remove the downspouts off her back porch and hang heavy chains in place. Loved watching the rain run down them and freeze during cold weather. Barbara

Bonnie, you'll get plenty of heat here in Australia, we're heading for for 38 degrees Celsius in Sydney tomorrow. I am sure you will enjoy the visit though.
