Moonflower Gift-Away!

In my mind, there is no way we are already half-way through November!  Didn't it just start?

As I look out at the grey rainy skies beyond my window, somehow autumn is turning toward winter, and it's the perfect time to get this quilt out to everyone.

My love of travel keeps me inspired, seeing new places, new things – with one common theme.

“Where are the quilty inspirations?!”

In the case of Moonflower – it is my love of photographing the geometric designs found in tile floors, tile walls, ceilings, and even woodwork.

These photos that I have saved for inspiration have been calling me to finally “DO SOMETHING” with them.

Moonflower was inspired by a tile floor I spotted while traipsing through small seaside towns in Ireland.

I don’t know a single quilter who would not exclaim “Look! A Quilt Design!” when walking into a restaurant, pub, church or other public space where tile designs can be found under foot..

My overflowing bins of grey gifted scraps.

Many of you will remember when I bit off more than I could chew when after our Easy Street mystery (Now found in the Addicted to Scraps book) I had a crazy mad idea for a grey string project and put out the call for A STRIP from your cutting table, mailed to me in a regular envelope that wouldn't take more than a simple stamp.

You flooded me!  Not just with strings and strips, but fat quarters and even half yards!

The grey strips not only landed in Silver Linings from String Frenzy

But I used them here in Grassy Creek as well.

I like grey, and I often turn to my gifted grey that you so lovingly and abundantly sent to dig for what I can find that might work in any project.

Cookie sheet organization -

(Yes, there will be more grey in quilts in the future - I'm not done yet!)

When recreating this tile floor inspired design, I knew I needed to make half-square triangles in multiple pairings, and I wanted as much variety there as I could as well.

Using the Essential Triangle Tool will have you cutting easily from pairs of strips, saving time and increasing your piecing accuracy.

I was able to cut all of my half-square triangles along with more squares from strips using my Essential Triangle Tool.

If you don’t have access to this ruler, you can use any method that gives you the unfinished and finished size of the unit.

My first big block - So much fun!

Diving in to make some more!

I just love it when secondary designs happen as blocks meet up with other blocks. That's where the magic is found.

No borders needed!

Simple shapes create a stunning repeat of pattern and secondary designs – All from a photo taken of a vintage tile floor in Ireland. Full color photos, Optional piecing methods, and directions to press for success!

Quilt Size: 72’’ X 72’’

I quilted Moonflower with grey thread in an edge-to-edge design called Radicchio by Urban Elementz.

I bound the quilt in a charcoal print from 2'' strips giving me a double-fold 1/4'' finish at the edge of the quilt.

The PDF pattern for Moonflower is currently 25% off in the Quiltville Store, no coupon code needed.

Rulers, notions and tools are also 15% off using code NOTIONS at checkout to receive discount.

To use a coupon code - click REDEEM YOUR COUPON beneath the the total in the shopping cart. Enter the coupon code in the box that opens up. Click enter.

*NOTE* You need to put the code in BEFORE you click to your payment method for discount coupon to be applied.

And now about that Gift-Away!

I'll be drawing for 2 winners who will each receive a Moonflower PDF pattern from me, and a Moonflower cotton roll from  Cotton to Quilts.

And don't forget to check out their neutral rolls as well - I love the variety in these cotton rolls!

We'll be drawing for those winners on Monday, 11/25/24.

Winners must have prize shipped to a USA address.  If you live outside of the USA we can ship it to a friend within the USA who can then forward it on to you.

And since we are headed into the holidays (And holiday sewing as well!)

I've also placed a 25% discount on Pine Tree Point. Price good through 12/15/24.

If you have one started from last year - why not pull it out and get going on it again? It's the perfect time!

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Isn't it crazy how this happens?

Happy stitching, everyone!

I remember sending you some gray strips when you made “Punkin’ Patch” too. A good time to sew with grays. An overcast day today. Sue

Many years ago, when I was still a beginner quilter, I was at a restaurant with my aunt who was an avid quilter. I commented that the wallpaper border looked like a quilt pattern. My aunt told me that seeing quilt patterns everywhere meant that I was now a real quilter!

  12. Moonflower is beautiful and I love those colors together! Time Warps happen in my sewing room too! My mini iron beeps to shut off every 15 minutes and it's amazing how quickly even that short span of time happens.

Oh , my heart, be still! The shades of Grey are beautiful, and the yellow just makes them pop. Bonnie how can you do that to me? I am going to try to struggle to cut the mystery quilt Come the 22nd. But this new pattern makes me want to start today, maybe I could use my Accuquilt dies to make life a little easier.
Today was the first day for physical therapy after my reverse shoulder replacement a week and a half ago. I want to win the drawing for the fabrics and the pattern but sometime my vision overpowers my reasoning, and I want to buy the pattern now, should I just say happy Thanksgiving and merry Christmas to me? LOL

  20. I'm in Canada, and Canada Post has just gone on strike. Don't worry about my entering for the pdf/fabric. I've got plenty of fabric, and with the pdf on sale at 25% off, I'll pay only 8% more (give or take) in CAD for it. LOVE that pattern! I've got lots of stash so will find my own fabrics. Thanks for the sale! P.S. I'm working on my 2nd "Easy Street" top as we speak...

As for the quote, it's definitely true when I go down to the sewing room & work on the long arm! I can't wait to see what you come up with next... & what inspiration comes from the weekend! Happy quilting!

That is a very pretty pattern. I would love to make it and give it to someone who is having a hard time so that they can look at something pretty as they keep warm.
