Good morning, friends.
Thank you so much for your kind responses and understanding messages regarding yesterday's post over how I've been feeling regarding my sew-jo over the past few weeks.
One of my friends commented saying that she had to shake things up and dive into something new to respark her drive.
And that is just the ticket that I needed. Instead of facing more of the "same blocks" that are laid out on my QPO studio floor, and knowing that I'd be "Home Alone" ast evening, I brought home my overflowing pink string bucket and just started to string piece on foundations.
Pink feels happy to me.
I've been thinking a lot about incorporating more pink into a quilt ever since I finished the little Bloom stitchery quilt that is coming to Australia as our workshop project in January.
Winter can be grey and dreary and pink just makes me feel better right now.
Evidently it makes Lola feel pretty good, too!
String piecing on phonebook page foundations.
I simply settled into my basement studio, lit a fragrant candle, turned on Netflix to binge watch some movies.
One I found really cute and entertaining is a British flick called Bank of Dave. If you are looking for a feel good and fun watch, I highly recommend it.
I trimmed my panels, cut them into triangles...I'm loving how they are looking!
The only downside? I've already done all the pink ones I need and I'll need to plan on another evening of string piecing while "Home Alone" with another color.
I have a plan. It will unfold in due time.
And yes, I'll still settle into the red/neutral. Maybe this afternoon.
But now I have a HOME project to look forward to.
There will be something for those "Snow Day Sew Day" days where I stay home all cozy this winter.
Something to look forward to.
And yes - there is still hand quilting of Parade Day happening in the evenings when I'm not home alone and we are sharing some together time.
Lola was still in the bin this morning, sunlight on her face!
Little does she know that this bin is going back to the QPO with me this morning and will be swapped out for another color.
She'll adjust.
Folks are asking WHAT TIME Part One of Old Town will be posted. Usually between 9 and 10 am Eastern is when I've been getting posts out.
I know you are excited, but rest! Sleep in a bit. It will be here about the normal blog posting time.
And I'm so excited to kick this off!
Your excitement over Moonflower has blown my mind! Thank you so much!
It was so fun to make, and I can just imagine it in so many different color plans -
I'll be drawing for 2 winners who will each receive a Moonflower PDF pattern from me, and a Moonflower cotton roll from Cotton to Quilts.
And don't forget to check out their neutral rolls as well - I love the variety in these cotton rolls!
We'll be drawing for those winners on Monday, 11/25/24.
Get your entry in on the Gift-Away Post.
And yes, there is introductory pricing!
The PDF pattern for Moonflower is currently 25% off in the Quiltville Store, no coupon code needed.
Rulers, notions and tools are also 15% off using code NOTIONS at checkout to receive discount.

International Customers Purchasing PDF Patterns: Do not use the BUY NOW button on the pattern page to check out with autofill. Place the item in your shopping cart and then go to the cart page to check out choosing either your credit card option or Paypal. Shipping addresses should not apply as this is a digital pattern purchase. I don't know why it works this way, but it does.
And since we are headed into the holidays (And holiday sewing as well!)
I've also placed a 25% discount on Pine Tree Point. Price good through 12/15/24.
This quilt reminds me of all of the Christmas Tree trucks I see daily - pulling their tree harvest up and down these mountain roads, eventually to wind up in people's homes to become Christmas memories.
If you have one started from last year - why not pull it out and get going on it again? It's the perfect time!
I think that covers it for this morning!
Quiltville Quote of the Day -
Sometimes you've just got to look all around you to discover all of the free projects that can come right out of your own stash!
Have a terrific Thursday, everyone -
Looking forward to tomorrow! Two santa claus parades for our band this weekend, it's time for some jolly folks!
ReplyDeleteLola is pretty in pink! Marilyn Marks
ReplyDeleteYeah, Bonnie! I love today's quote. I've hit my stash and got my sewjo back too. Love making quilts that don't cost anything! Found a fabulous floral with enough yardage to get 6 repeats and yesterday finished prepping the fussy cut jewel shapes onto the paper pieces so they're ready for sewing. Well, only the 100 jewel paper pieces I ordered. Another 100 will be arriving today. OK, so this quilt will cost something, but it's only paper. Also found enough bright fabrics that will accent the flower centers and will use black hexies to surround these. Not yet sure what I'll use where you used teal, but I'll be auditioning several options. All from my stash. Yay! The only thing is, it's another project started....so many to finish, your Morning Glory quilt, Quiltworx's Carnival Flower TOM, and so many I haven't look at for so long, that I've forgotten about them. Then there are new projects I'm planning for or already signed up for: your mystery quilt, 2 classes at the AQS show in Daytona Beach in Feb, and a zoom class for next year's Quiltworx TOM project. I'm hitting my stash for all of these projects. Sewjo is back in business. Gotta get sewing!
ReplyDeleteLove the quote! I pretty much told my husband that yesterday when I finished putting the binding on my Scrappy Celebrations quilt!
ReplyDeleteLola is so cute basking in the sun in the bin of pink scraps.
Glad you have a plan! This year I've tried to only use stash, but there's almost always something I NEED- a color usually. And then make myself only buy that.....
ReplyDeletethat's what I tell my husband, "free" quilts don't break the budget
ReplyDeleteI have a cat named Lola too. Your Lola is much slimmer. Looking forward to tomorrow's post and to seeing what you do with the pink strips. Nancy
ReplyDeleteI was working on a paper piece project with an Autumn theme and it was so boring and tedious I just had to set it aside and start on something else. I kept what I had finished on my design board so I don't forget about it. I guess it will a finished project for next Autumn. If I'm not feeling it, then I just have to start something else, otherwise it feels more like a job, than something that sparks joy.
ReplyDeleteIf you like British shows, you might like Call the Midwife on Netflix. If I had to sum up the theme in one word, it'd be 'kindness'. Never fails to make me feel better. Bonus - lots of seasons to binge watch!
ReplyDeletePink is a Happy color! Glad you had time to play! One more sleep!! I finally broke down and remade my Square in a Square units for Indigo Way. Almost ready to assemble . Giving myself grace for not having it at least a flimsy. Lots of shuffling of my Stash this year. Was the gifted box full of Pinks?? I loved the Australia quiltlet you made!!
ReplyDeleteReally loved Bank of Dave! Now I want lots of pink!
ReplyDeleteAnxious to see what comes next with these pink triangles! Kosmo and Katastrophy say meow to Lola =^.^= Sandi
ReplyDeleteWhen I misplace my sew-jo I sew strings and listen to an audiobook OR I try to sew a few donation quiltlettes for my local shelters. Sometimes I have to really force myself to be interested long enough to complete - but I always feel inspired when I deliver and see what a difference my sew-jo can make. <3
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pinks!!
Bank of Dave was a wonderful film! If you haven't seen it, try Fisherman's Friends, another feel good movie with great sea chanty music and heart. It's on Amazon Prime. I always shy away from pink but your pieces look great....might have to start looking at what I have! Also, great post yesterday. I feel much the same. Have a great day and Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteI found that 20 minutes in the morning with my SADD light worked wonders.
ReplyDeletePink IS a happy color. Wondering what your next color you pull will be. I am all for sewing from stash. I figure if I am lacking enough of a color, it's time to experiment and stay within the stash. It's worked many times.
ReplyDeleteYou know Bonnie.... Pink & Grey look good together too... just saying if you still have your grey bin out... lol I like that quote about projects being free if you use your stash! I've been saying that for years!
ReplyDeleteWe are leaving Saturday morning heading to Soda Springs, Idaho to cut Christmas trees. Family fun..gas, food, memories... priceless! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Would love a new paper pieced quilt to make
ReplyDeleteLove it!
