Wow! What a weekend!
As the weather begins to get chillier - we gathered the October Quiltvillians around the fire pit for one last sit-around-the-fire evening of 2024.
Now, the November Quiltvillians are the next group in line - arriving on Wednesday, but I'm not sure if the weather will be cooperative. As it was, this called for jackets and sweatshirts and by the time we were about ready to go in, rain had started drizzling a bit.
We snuck this one in just in the nick of time!
Getting the fire going just at dusk.
Letting it burn down to perfection for marshmallow roasting!
And yes, Mabel and Zoey were on hand for all the loves and pets - and a few bits of graham cracker.
All through the weekend there were cute projects a plenty!
Gail is making these adorable sheep -
Pattern found in this book by wendy Sheppard.
Something Halloweenie is happening here!
Oh cute!
Pattern from this book by It's Sew Emma.
Cute couch throw quickly made from a printed panel and bordered.
A gelly roll finish!
A new project begun! I love the greys with the aqua. Pretty!
You all know what this is, right?
How many are pedal to the metal to get Indigo Way done before our next mystery starts SOON, VERY SOON!!
That's right! On Thursday I'll be posting the introductory post to this year's Quiltville Winter Mystery. I'll have yardage requirements, colors and background story and other pertinent information for you.
As with every year, It will have its own tab at the top of the blog so all posts relating to the mystery will be easy for you to go back and find.
My job over the next few days is to finish up that post and get everything ready so we can begin!
This binding continues!
At least at last I have finally reached the 4th side. I keep telling MYSELF that it's not a race - the same thing I keep telling everyone else.
But with mystery stuff being worked on behind the scenes and feeling like I need to so some quilty progress of some kind here - this is it. LOL!
When this binding is done, I get back to hand quilting the red/white/blue stars.
I did sort out and kit up a bunch of pieces for my hexie project for upcoming travel.
I leave for Arizona on 11/5 to visit my dad for a week.
I have the England trip coming up quickly!
That is followed by Australia in January.
Hexies are ready to go - but that doesn't feel like a lot to share.
Son Jeff came yesterday to help fix the facia board behind the gutter on our front porch at home. Somehow a chipmunk or squirrel had found its way through a rotted spot and was making a nest in between the walls. YIKES!
That's now solved, and of course if sons come to work, we feed them. So my Sunday was full of making roast, potatoes, gravy, broccoli and a salad to go with - must FEED the menfolk.
Today is the last day for the October Quiltvillians, and there will be over-the-porch photos to take this afternoon.
This week feels already FULL UP.

I think it's also fair to assume that our stash increases in value as we age.
Just by the replacement value alone!
Have a marvelous Monday, everyone!
Thursday! Thursday! Thursday! We are all planning to meet up at my Moms house this weekend to combine our scraps and do our fabric pull for the mystery! Bonnie, you have no idea... we book this weekend on our calendars every year. We are all so excited to get started!
ReplyDeleteThat pic of the pups cracks me up! You need one of the "tell your dog we say Hi" stickers! Anyone know what that O Holy Night lyric fabric is? Super-cute sheep!
ReplyDeleteI ordered the pattern and can't wait to start using my shirt tub!
ReplyDeleteSquirrels do find the littlest holes! Or, in our case, getting under the hood of our car and filling it with walnuts! Another time, it was a chipmunk nest- unfortunately we didn't find him until it was too late.
Congratulations to the two Ladies!!
ReplyDeleteThe fire pit looked awesome. Nice and warm. I bet the dogs enjoyed it too.
Beautiful projects being made. Lots of great sewing.
Blessings 🙏
What! I can make an adorable sheep quilt because I have Wendy Sheppard's Christmas Quilting book. I've been so focused on the monthly Christmas All Year Round sewalong with Wendy and Pat Sloan that I missed it. Thanks for sharing projects from the October Quiltvillians!
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I'm so jealous of your firepit. Congrats to Lorrie and Pat.
Happy Monday everyone!
I love the Sheep! Something I collect for All year. Got a new Sheep pattern at the Quilt Show in Spokane. Can't have too many, right? Congrats to the winners. We are all winners to be Quilting the New Mystery. 3 more days!! The only thing I look forward to on Halloween! Lowe's in on my way to town!!
ReplyDeleteAwe, the pups made an appearance! 😃
ReplyDeleteWe are still waiting for some rain and cooler weather here in South Central Texas.
I am loving the holiday stuff coming out, and, yes, getting excited for the mystery as well, ready to go through my closet and see what can go! Have a wonderful evening!
Oh those sheep are beautiful! I have been wanting to make a green and blue quilt after our trip to Ireland last year and have been trying to figure out a way to incorporate sheep into it. They were such an important part of the Ireland experience! I think I will be making County Clare…..maybe I can find some neutral sheep fabric…..but those sheep blocks are the cutest!
