Hurricane Helene

Good morning folks!

I'm trying to post this from my phone as we are currently out of power and the generator hasn't kicked in. The heating and air company is in the process of sending folks all the way out from Blacksburg to get us up and running. This storm is a doozy! And we are just in the outer bands of it here in Southwestern virginia.

We just got notification that The Retreat House is also out of power, but hopefully their generator kicked in!

Grassy Creek Road is closed due to large downed trees across the road.

We are going to try to venture up and over in the opposite direction taking the long way around to go check on the retreat people.

And we are not even in the direct path! So to those who are - please stay safe. This is not a joke or a mere suggestion.

Here where we are the winds are absolutely crazy and we have had nearly 10 inches of rain since this event started.

Even though this has been downgraded from Hurricane to Tropical storm, don't let it fool you.

Thoughts, prayers, and all good Juju for those affected are welcome.

Love you all - stay safe.

Bonnie

  3. Ww had a rain and dirt storm the other night. What a mess. No power out that I noticed. Unplug the electric Sewing machines at night on those stormy days. Must be a Hexie day or Binding. Be safe!

  6. OH NO, no power with your new generator! Schools are closed and the wind is howling here in Brunswick county NC, the area is still trying to recover from flooding two weeks ago, we are under tornado watch but still have power. Be safe Bonnie!

I pray "Peace" to the storm and the fears that are raging in the hearts of many now in the aftermath of "Helene".

  11. yes, prayers for all affected. We are in South Central Texas so nothing doing over here but high & dry sunshine. My daughter is in Tennessee but she is ok at last check, and my step-daughter is in North Carolina. She also is ok at last check as of noonish. Sending lots of prayers not only for those affected but for the rescue teams as well.
