I've got to admit it.
I've been in a weird brain-space recently.
It seemed I had a whole lot of momentum since returning from Ireland/Scotland at the end of June and just powered my way through July.
There were completed tops to machine quilt (Huka Falls and Mom's Hexie) and a top to finish at baste for hand quilting (The shirt starts one - still unnamed) and quilts coming back from the Quilter's Hall of Fame in Indiana and......then what?

Clos ups of some of the blocks.
Not all squares in charm packs are wonderful. Some of those weird ones I have I still don't know what to do with so they may end up simply stripped down and put into the string bins.
And that's okay too.
Today I'll jump into that sashing making with renewed vigor.
Becca's Four-Patch & furrows mini!
Sie's cute eye spy for a grandson!
Meg's completed top for a baseball loving fan -
Jacob's Chain blocks are multiplying!
Paper pieced stars - wowzers!
More Jacob's Chain and a smattering of Indigo Way blocks.
Last year a stripes challenge was issued, and stripes continue to happen this year! I love how they all look so different.
I love where these are going!
Left, Right, Center winners!
Even when I"m not there Tonni keeps me up to date on what is going on - I get serious FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) in the evenings after I've gone home. LOL!
Looks like they had a great evening of game nights and just look at those winnings!
Today - much quilting ahead for everyone.
Did you see we have a Summit St. Box gift-away happening?
Head over to THAT POST and get your entry in!
I'll be drawing for 2 winners to each receive a Road Trip box from Jordan at Summit St Shop.
Summit St Shop is in Webberville, Michigan! Are you within driving distance?
They spent a year and a half renovating a historic church building into a storefront open to the public..
Summit St Shop carries quilting fabric, of course - but also decor, gifts and more!
And yes, you can order online. Summit St Boxes are currently on sale as well, and there is free shipping on orders over $75.00 within the USA.
I just know you are going to want to collect ALL of the boxes - especially the quilty ones!
Oh I think sashings will fit the bill. I've been trying to think of a name for your Stars quilt top. Nothing comes to mind though. You'll think of something.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're feeling better about sewing ..you were probably just exhausted and needed a break from everything. You do so much.
Have a Sparkling good weekend 🤗
Blessings 💞
When my husband was in his 40's - he said time sure is flying fast. His ex father in law said that if he thought it was fast now - wait til you are in your 60's! Too true
ReplyDeleteSummer was longer it went from Memorial Day to Labor Day at least it did when I was in grade school, now the kids are lucky to get 6 weeks
ReplyDeleteBonnie.. I kind of like the diamond blocks without sashing… they would create another additional design. But, of, course, your quilt, your decision… have fun…whatever you choose to do will be fun and interesting!
ReplyDeleteGlad you found some MOJO. Sasjings will get it to a Flimsy. Great work retreaters. I have watched way too much Olympics. Need to stitch something soon. Quilt Show entries are due September 1st. Fair entry deadline is Momday.
ReplyDeleteGlad for a weekend. No rest though. Getting old isn't for sissies.
Saw your video on YT last night and I'm glad you've got your SewJo MoJo back and in working order. :-) I feel that way sometimes when I've finished a big project...joyful, exhausted, and wondering what's next. I definitely need more time and energy! You're so right. I'm retired and my days zip by so fast.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing all the projects that quilters are working on and the progress during their stay. I need to make an I Spy quilt like that for my nephews--so cute! The Stripes Challenge blocks are enticing to me. I remember reading about it but I can't find the post. Is it possibly Strip Twist on your free patterns tab made with smaller strips and turned differently?
Have a wonderful weekend, Jenny
I made this quilt when your article came out. It was so fun to make and I love how it turned out. I used an aqua Grunge fabric for the sashing. Thank you Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteI love that Diamonds Tile Pattern. Is there some way to find it or do you have it for sale?
ReplyDeleteI remember the craze when you first came out with that diamond tile block! I never caught on, but maybe this time I might. I chuckled when you were going through that charm pack! The colors are great together, but the prints.... OY! If it's not your favorite, cut it smaller to make it work! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are getting back into it... it is ok to take a break when needed, & you did a LOT in July! I'm having to go back to weekend only quilting; I start back to work next week. Boo!! But I am trying my best to have CHilhowie at least on the wall & ready to sew together as I can! Have a fabulous weekend & have fun on the retreat, ladies!! :)
I found Bonnie's Addicted to Scraps column that contains the Diamond Tile information in Quilt Maker Magazine May/June 2018 issue. I found this on the Quilting Daily website. The digital file for the magazine is available. Yes, and my favorite childhood memory is having unlimited energy - ha! Carolyn
ReplyDeleteI'm blessed with being "multi-craftual" -- I knit (learned about 64 years ago); I cross-stitch (learned about 60 years ago); I spin; and I've taken up hooking art rugs (for the wall, not the floor) -- in addition to quilting (which I've done in one way, shape or form -- both utilitarian and art quilting -- for 30 years. And I'm a widow so it falls to me to do yard work and gardening (which I mostly enjoy). If nothing else works, I go for a walk! Hugs to you -- I've an 'Easy Breezy' small (throw) top underway for fire victims from Jasper, Alberta -- so thank you for all you do to inspire us...even if your sew-jo is Very Slow-Jo at the moment...
ReplyDeleteI would call the new quilt to be “Mojo Returns”.
ReplyDeleteMy opinion, take the leftover charm blocks and cut in quarters to be used as cornerstones with your sashing. The colors will work that way.
ReplyDeleteThis is funny that you are working on this quilt with the Diamond Tile block. I saw a finished quilt top with this block on Pinterest yesterday and was researching where I could get the pattern - found that it was in the May/June 2018 issue of Quiltmaker and then asked if anyone in my group of quilt friends had an issue I could borrow. A friend is giving me the magazine and another friend told me that you have been working on the quilt this week and blogging about it. I was on vacation so haven’t been keeping up with the blog. Home now and can’t wait to see how yours comes out.
ReplyDeleteSometimes you just need to go simple for you sashing. When in doubt, just use a plain solid black and it will make everything pop! Just my idea! Have a great day
