Quilting Square Pegs!

One of the most satisfying moments of quilting - just one of them -

Is hitting the reverse on the roller motor and watching the quilt unfurl after the quilting is done....

What has been rolled up tightly on the take up roller and hidden from view becomes visible when you unfurl the quilt and see it in its entirety - all of that gorgeous quilted texture.

Hooray!

Quilting in Progress!

I used an ivory thread and an edge to edge design called Espalier by Hermione Agee for Lorien Quilting.

And all of that binding I made the day before was pressed and made ready for binding time!

This is the remaining piece of chartreuse solid from my New River Star quilt.

There is something about that spring green color that just calls to me.  It is great in so many places.

My trusty 201 with walking foot powers through all the layers!

Ummm, Lola?

Cozy evening stitching.

I'm still binging through Designated Survivor on Netflix - somewhere in season 2 now.

Yep!  Chartreuse sold was the right choice!

There are still several evenings of binding/sleeve/label stitching to come and I'm good with that.

As to what is the next project to move forward?

I'll have to leave that for tomorrow.  There is another UFO bin calling my name.

So here we are at Friday - what do you have planned for today?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

We have a choice on what we choose to bring into our future. Some baggage can be left behind.

Happy Friday, everyone!

  1. I do love that spring green! Perfect!
You are so inspiring Bonnie. You make every step of quilting look easy. Thank you. Any idea where this quilt is going?
What am I doing today? Washing all the bedding and quilts that were on the bed all winter. I'll put some of the quilts away. Pillows and all get a wash.
Sun is shining today. Don't know for how long though.
    Have a Sparkling good day

  2. There's something so mesmerizing about watching and listening to the Millie as she quilts. My niece has one and I'm allowed to quilt with her. I just need to get better at understanding how to set up the computer program. Choosing a pattern for the quilting is my biggest challenge. Lola does what my cats do. Settle in where most needed. Love the look of Square Peg. Thanks so much for sharing.

  5. I don't have a motor on my Quilting Machine, I still love the unfurling of the Quilt when I release the lock on the take up pole. Enjoy your Binding time. It is my favorite part of the Quilting. I can say I did it all myself! That is the best feeling. Love the Square Pegs. Happy Fri-Yay!

  8. Love Chartreuse! A friend of mine has a Christmas Tree in that color...it is true! Like its choice for the binding. It even makes a good neutral for a quilting thread. Love your New River Star design. Take care, Sandi

  11. Green for the win! Speaking of green, today I was in between projects, so i drug out my 301 to get her ready for a 3 day retreat at my MIL’s house in May or
June. Forgot how beautiful and quiet she is….the machine, not my MIL…:)
Since that only took a few minutes, I drug out my green Condor treadle. I found it a couple of years ago, and it has been a long time without any lubrication, so I'm trying to get it all loosened up. It is badged in Spanish…one of the things I loved about it…and its army green…what more can you say? I hope it is humming along by end of the weekend. Still haven't picked a name for this one…it may need something masculine and hispanic…

  12. I agree... when you're unrolling a quilt off of the long arm after it's been done IS one of the most satisfying parts of quilting! The fact that it's Lola-approved is even better. It is such a happy quilt... I could definitely see this one in a child's /young teen bedroom! As for my agenda... just trying to make through the day. Finally Friday and all that jazz. Looking forward to some quilting time on the long arm down the hill. Have a fabulous weekend!
