I awoke to this sunrise this morning!
Currently only 16 degrees, but lovely to view from the warmth of a toasty inside -
This is what a "skiff of snow" is for those asking just what a skiff was in measurements.
To me, a skiff is "barely a dusting" but it's cold enough that this may stick around today as it looks like we won't get above freezing until tomorrow.
White Christmas, maybe?
I doubt it! We'll be back in the 50s by Thursday.
Down the drive -
It looks like the finishing of the terraced steps will have to wait for the weekend.
The bulk of my day was spent here -
My big postmaster's desk at the QPO Studio.
I finished the pattern writing for the Kiss Me, Kiwi stitchery - the project I'll be presenting to my New Zealand travelers in just over 4 weeks!
With temps in the teens beyond my door - I'm looking forward to heading into summer down under to thaw my toes.

Pineapple Train -
Yesterday afternoon when snow started to flurry, temps dropped and wind was howling I came home and stitched ONE block before dinner time.
Just one. It was the only machine time I got yesterday - but one is done and better than none!
It's not quite a snowed in kind of snow day today - I'm still going to have to go get the mail and feed Tula (Who is right as rain and warm and cozy) and do other things like start in on getting Indigo Way Part Five taken care of (or at least started) but if time permits me an early return home time, I'll try to get just ONE more pineapple block made.
One at a time may be the only way this thing grows at all, but one is definitely better than none.

Your skiff of snow/beautiful sunrise/wood pile picture is a lovely scene. We had a pretty red sky sunrise this morning in Kansas. I finished wrapping Christmas presents yesterday and made a few sets of Indigo Way part 4. I'm halfway there! Hopefully I'll get more sewing time today to get more done.

The Midwest (Northern Illinois here) missed the snow and the rain. Maine looks to be a mess right now. Cold right now but the wind died down from yesterday and that's a blessing for everyone that has to be out shopping or working in it.
ReplyDeleteLittle sewing happening here except for maybe a doll skirt or pants for my grand niece. This will probably be the last year for this type of sewing but I'm using repurposed fabrics for the clothes, so win-win.

ReplyDeleteJust spoke to my friend inNZ yesterday. She lives in the top of the South Island and she said the weather was lovely but very windy.
ReplyDeleteI know you've said before but my memory isn't always the greatest--is the pineapple block on your page or is it to come later? Loving it more and more every time you show one.
ReplyDeleteThis year I'm happy the weather isn't snowy. We can drive an hour to the Blue Mountains where the snow is. Or look at the white tops of those mountains from our cozy home. I need to Quilt another project, can you say Squirrel??

Your wake-up scene is lovely. That pineapple project sounds like a potato chip quilt... one more block, one more chip! HA!! Only a half a day for us and then we are free for 2 weeks!! Then I can get my own pineapple train going!! Happy Tuesday!!

ReplyDeleteI actually like cold weather and snow. January and February are months I look forward to. Quiet months that leave plenty of time for quilting and rest after the hubbub of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
