We love Show & Share time during Quilt Camp!

This all happened after our first dinner together, gathering in the sewing room for inspiration and explanation – every quilt comes with a story!

Often, the quilts shown on Thursday evening are those that were finishes from previous Quilt Camps, and as Quilt Camp has now been going for 15 consecutive years, those UFOs can have quite the long life line!

Along with past retreat projects, some Quiltville quilts came out to play, and I’m so happy that the retreaters schlepped quilts along for me to see.

This is Christy’s Sister’s choice…can you see how she made TINY 9 patches to use as cornerstones in her sashing?

This is such a happy quilt, all from scraps – I just love it!

 

Christy’s Celtic Solstice!

What a wonderful color display!

It still has borders underway, but she brought it to share any how.  I’ll take quilts in any condition – I love to see the projects in progress as well as the magnificent completions, so please bring them!

Georgette’s Grand Illusion!

I am so happy to see Georgette again!  The last time I was here, she proudly told me she was 80 and loves to quilt and sew every day, it keeps her young and her brain functioning!  And here she is 4 years later, at 84!  Still going strong, still bringing laughter and smiles to everyone she comes in contact with.  Isn’t this just gorgeous!?

We all gasped when Pat pulled out her Rectangle Wrangle from Scraps & Shirttails II!

Doesn’t this quilt just sparkle?  She did a great job on it, and her show and share didn’t stop there..hang on to your hats, folks!

Perkiomen Daydreams from Scraps & Shirttails!

All 10,000 pieces in all of their scrappy glory!  Pat told the story of how she pieced this as Leaders & Enders (It is worked from short strip sets) and though her sit and stitch group taunted her every week saying she was CERTIFIABLE, she just kept plugging away until all 400 blocks were done and set together.  

Oh yes, this is definitely one of MY favorite patterns of all time!

Yes, we are Quilters, and we CAN cat call at quilts!  **Whistle whistle!!**

So what is Pat on to next?  After yesterday’s lecture – she is off and running toward Pineapple Crazy from String Fling!  This girl loves a challenge and small piecing in huge quilts, just as I do, so I can’t wait to watch her progress as little blocks turn into something BIG.

And this is a cute giggle all around – because she is working it in Blue – she calls it COLD Turkey…More hoots of laughter amongst the group.  Oh yes, we are enjoying Quilt Camp SEW MUCH!

Carol’s Star String Finish!!

I just love this one in patriotic red/neutral/blue!  It’s one of a matched pair – Carol has a set of twin beds in her guest room and each is getting a star struck quilt.  This one?  4 years in the making – but she got it done!

In this photo is Carol’s hubby Dan, who is an award winning quilter in his own right.  Together Carol and Dan own Threads Galore Quilt Shop in Rangeley, and the Quilt Inn retreat center next door where I stayed on my first night here in Maine.  The retreat house is now in busy full swing quilting mode as there is a group of quilters who have taken it over for a week’s worth of their own stitching fun.

Gay’s Leader & Ender project!

Isn’t this marvelous??  This is coming from a box of 1 1/2’’ squares simply sewn as Leaders & Enders at the end of a line of chain piecing.  She’s been working on it for quite a while, with a strategic placement of light/color/black to form this nearly gingham looking AMAZING piece of patchwork!

Sandal’s Happily Scrappily Irish from Adventures with Leaders & Enders!

She biggie-sized this one using 2 1/2’’ squares instead of 2’’ for a quicker, easier finish!

This is Sandal’s first ever quilt retreat, and we are making sure that it is as memorable as it can be – I think she’ll be back!  It definitely won’t be her last retreat!

I’m having a fabulous time with the ladies.  I’ve had my own sewing time in the evening, using Carol’s loaner featherweight.  We are getting along just fine, this sweet beauty and me!
