Quilt friends meet quilt friends on cruises…and then quilt friends come all the way from the UK to Alaska to rejoin quilt friends in a somewhat cruise reunion –on land!
Alessandra is shown here with Alex, a very talented quilt gal, and so fun to be around!
Alessandra has never been to Alaska before –it’s her first time! And here she is in Soldotna because she met Linda and Alex on our Caribbean cruise last fall…became fast friends and a plan was hatched that Alessandra would make this pilgrimage to the Last Frontier for this event in Soldotna…..She gets the prize for coming the farthest!
Which is bonus for me, because that means that I get to spend a couple of days with all of them too as part of this fun reunion!
The funny thing is…..this is the same quilt we were doing on the cruise…so they are not starting ANOTHER UFO with me..they are continuing to work on this one, and the joke was made that each time we get together from across the globe that we could add two more completed blocks to the finished pile and maybe this quilt would be DONE sometime during our life times!
I just love the friendships that quilting brings our way. It’s priceless. I mean --- how ELSE could things like this happen?
This is how the trunk show traveled this time!
There are just as many quilts in these two blue bags as there are in my green duffels. However, it takes two people to stack and pack…..the upside? These bags have WHEELS. It also means that the bags weigh a bit more, but did you hear me? THEY HAVE WHEELS!

There were many featherweights, including Leanna’s 222 free arm…oh baby! I also forgot to get a close up of Cheri’s new-to-her- 404…..sweet ride! Will get that today…..but it felt so good to be “back in the saddle” in a room full of quilters sewing away while machines made all of their voices heard.

And today we are at it again!
We've got Smith Mountain Morning up on deck---another full class of somewhere around 32 ---it looks like it’s going to be a lovely spring day with a high of about 60 degrees…the clouds and rain have left us and outside my window is a beautiful Alaskan sunrise over the Kenai river.
Breakfast first….then I’ll run out for some photos before class!

Yesterday's class was so much fun! And was fun to have dinner with you and your hubby and all the new quilting friends I met! Trunk show was fantastic ! So glad I was able to make the journey north from Salt Lake City to see you (ok - nice to see my mom and dad too!)

ReplyDeleteOH My, Bonnie! It was so good to have you and Hubby here with us in Alaska again. Texas Tumbleweeds was Fantastic (AND to think I was only going to do Smith Mountain Mornings, Silly me) and I really love the Smith Mountain Mornings. I have wanted to do that one since you were here two years ago and got that book! Have a Great rest of the trip here in Alaska and teaching up north!!
