In the little harbor town of Seward is an adorable little quilt shop that is definitely a DO NOT MISS on any traveling quilter’s itinerary!
Sew’n Bee Cozy has been in this location for many years, welcoming quilters from around the globe, beckoning them in to “Come pet the fabric!” and see some quilts, patterns and kits that are uniquely Alaskan in nature!
I couldn’t resist stopping in –it was just around the corner from our hotel.
And it was open on a Sunday afternoon ---this is after all, Seward Alaska – and cruising quilters NEED quilt shops to be open when ships are in port!
One of the Holland America line ships just happened to be in port as we arrived, and we know how it goes –cruising quilters can sniff out a quilt shop miles away, and in the door they came:
If you think you like it – buy it! You are not likely to find it anywhere else!
A very popular pattern --
Sockeye River Run! And kits are available!
It’s wonderful to visit shops that have things that you can’t find anywhere else – as well as a great variety of fabric for every taste. Sew’n Bee Cozy specializes in Alaskan themed batiks –so love these!
Check out the moose!
Gorgeous!
Take your time browsing, you are going to be here a while!
Rainbow walls of inspiration --
Goodies and gadgets around every corner!
Bundles for quick grab purchasing!
Precuts a plenty!
Getting my fondle on!
Walls of Alaska themed patterns for your memory quilt!
I oughter make this otter!! Sew cute!
The ever popular moose!
I caught myself a big one!
All the patterns and kits are here!
Most fun of all? A Grand Illusion sighting!
This top belongs to one of the employees who happened to not be scheduled for working this day. We took a photo to show here “Bonnie was here!” I love your top, you did a great job on it!
If you have a chance, stop by Sew’n Bee Cozy –it’s a great little shop with loads of wonderful things to see.

As for what’s going home with me?
Loved these, but too heavy for my luggage.
I’ll settle for THESE:
Silver thimbles! Just right!
Thanks for the quilt-shop fix, Seward!
As this posts we are boarding a train for a long day-trip from Anchorage up to Fairbanks….I will likely be without connection for most of the day. This is a good thing. Sitting on a train, enjoying the sights of the Alaskan landscape ---it’s going to be an awesome day!
Anchorage to Fairbanks on the train. Part of the most wonderful vacation in my life. Thanks for reminding me of a very special time. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
ReplyDeleteBe sure to wave as you pass through Palmer and Wasilla! We had a great time in Soldotna!
ReplyDeleteLove the Earrings. I'd pass on the Batiks. I like the Black & White bundles. Perfect for a Bonnie Quilt.
ReplyDeleteOH I love the quilt shops in Alaska. I bought the Iditarod Quilt kit at the Sew'n Be Cozy in Seward to remember our wonderful vacation. Enjoy that fabulous ride on the Alaska Railroad -Alaska is truly the Last Frontier.
ReplyDeleteHope you have time for the quilt shop in Fairbanks! I have been to both and have fat quarters from both for that Alaska memory quilt, someday. Maybe Bonnie inspired?
ReplyDeleteJust imagine being on a cruise ship to Alaska...and finding a wonderful quilt shop !!!! I just love the idea I can see in the photos. Each section of the country has it's style... here in East Tennessee Smoky Mountains we love antique looks and styles. But new items creep in also :)
ReplyDeleteYou have to leave everything home and pack new fabric to take home when you leave!!!!
Smiles, JulieinTN
I love the Alaska Quilt Shops - but the one I bought fabric from was in Skagway! And a couple of fat quarters at Denali! Have a great trip!
ReplyDeleteFrom a distance, I am so inspired by the Alaskan beauty and wildness! I find all of those fabrics so inspiring and tempting!!! So--wondering if our next Mystery will be inspired here in the North or, perhaps, back in Florence and sunny Italy. Oh, can hardly wait to find out!!!! :-)
