Galaxy-Gram! Laying Low in Orange Park--

I made it from Tampa to Atlanta to Jacksonville--

It was a lovely Florida day with blue skies and sunshine!  Finally!

I was met at the airport and whisked off to my new lodgings where I found a goodie bag stuffed to the brim with yummies, a balloon and flowers, and a featherweight just waiting to be unpacked!

My sinuses have stopped any fun from happening, however and it's a good thing that I had the rest of the day off.

After a long afternoon nap I wound my way to a Minute Clinic at a Walgreens within walking distance.

I got in within 10 minutes of them closing.
What I thought was a simple sinus issue caused by humidity, pollen and air conditioning has turned into a serious sinus infection as well as both ears being infected as well.

I now know why babies cry over their ears!

Heavy duty antibiotics, flonase, advil cold and sinus and a lot of rest have been prescribed and I hope to be feeling much better by my lecture time tomorrow night.

There are some days when you really do wish you could just go home to your own bed.

Hoping to see improvement in the morning.

  1. Bonnie, I had the same experience in December to the point of an eardrum rupturing. Did you by chance get some gluten in your travels? Mine was made worse by eating some food that I had been assured was gluten free but was not. Just an FYI as i am also gluten intolerant and wheat is hidden everywhere. I was also given something for it that sent my blood sugar readings sky high.

  3. Good thing you have the nasacort, it doesnt have fragrance in it like flonase. it will work better for you without the fragance allergy issues.

  11. Bonnie, I am so glad you got a proper diagnosis and appropriate meds so this won't hang on much longer than necessary. I know how it is to be away from home when you're sick. I'm glad your schedule will allow an evening and most of tomorrow to rest. Get well quick!

  12. My old stompin' grounds and my favorite quilt shop. Please feel better soon.
Give Lynn and Bob hugs for me and tell those who remember me that Vicky Torrey says Hi!
I wish I could be there but the stars didn't align this time.

  13. I was so upset to hear you were going to be in Orange park- A WEEK AFTER I LEFT! I had been there being my daughter after the birth of her 3rd child, my son in law mentioned the fabric shop and would I want to go since it was so close to where they live. But since I only brought a carry on for the plane I said no only to hear the day I got back that you were going to be there! I've wanted to hear you speak and see a trunk show of yours for so long,,,I was so close!
But I have a beautiful new grand daughter so I have to feel blessed right?

  17. Bonnie, Having just finished a course of the same heavy duty antibiotics for a nasty sinus infection involving both of my ears too, I feel your pain! Please try to get as much rest as possible and drink lots of fluids! Feel better and spend some time in the sun!

  19. Good thing you got the antibiotics! You need to preserve your hearing! I would check with a doctor before flying home though. A friend of mine went deaf in one ear from just driving to the mountains with an ear infection, they didn't warn her. Drink lots of fluids and be careful. Hugs!!

Bonnie, sorry for the health problems! Jacksonville has a Navy base there where I attended one of the schools the Navy sent me to when I was in the Navy in 1955. Now I quilt a lot.! Get well. I love to read about your adventures.

  24. It's the time of year for colds and sinus infections. When we babysat our twin grandchildren this past Saturday I did much wiping of runny noses. Today I came down with their cold. Should have brewed up my elderberry concoction and started on vitamin C as soon as I came home that day. Hope you feel better after resting tonight and tomorrow...and yeah, my bed is going to feel pretty good here shortly.

  35. Get a small humidifier without a filter, put distilled water in only cause tap water can create a white dust on everything. I have a small square one. Get on ASAP, the air dryness, dry nose. Watch flonase, the stuff may add to your eye issues, ask how I know. Truly nasal spray can cause problems to eyes, it did to me.

Search "EarPlanes." They are ear plugs that help stabilize pressure in the ears & reduce discomfort during changes of altitude on flights. Should be available at big chain drug stores, and sometimes you see them at airport stores.

Another line of defense when traveling by plane in the winter - Curad Antiviral Masks. The masks are treated with citric acid, copper, and zinc to help trap and deactivate viruses you would otherwise breathe in. They also keep you from touching your nose without thinking, and spreading germs to yourself that way. Good if you have a cold (so you don't spread it to others), and good if you don't want to catch a cold in the first place!
