This has been one swimming day – I can’t seem to concentrate on anything ---Flit Flit Flit Flit Flit from one thing to another with nowhere to really land, it seems.
But the best part of today is ---I have signed my contract for my next book release with a release date of April, 2014!
I know that seems like “FOREVER” away – but it takes me about 18 months to do enough large quilts for a book. It takes 12 to 13 quilts to fill it full, and that means I spend about a year making the quilts, with one quilt finish a month. The rest of the time is spent writing the manuscript and pattern details, etc--
Is it any wonder I had to ask myself who was the Ding-Dong who made a whole POT of tea -- and forgot about it, leaving it on the kitchen counter untouched to get cold?
Oh yeah..that would be me...Attention Deficit Quilting Disorder strikes again!!
There is much celebration going on in Quiltville tonight --- with re-heated tea, of course!
Good for you! I'll be placing my order well in advance of its release. You're not the only one to leave a full pot of tea grow cold ... I just add ice, lemon and sweetener and call it iced tea! LOL
ReplyDeleteMy hubby said he needed a key to the cabin he will be there in October... ;-)
ReplyDeleteHurray!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you come up with a new quilt pattern nearly each month but am so glad God gifted you to do so! And if the release date is April 2014 I'd guess the submit to editor date is well before that! And April is only 10 months away! I'm always impressed with how you organize your time and accomplish projects in advance and take advantage of your at home time.

DeleteMy thoughts exactly!
DeleteThat's exciting! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteYou could always say that it was intended to be Northern style iced tea...Wow! you do like to be busy, but it makes the rest of us very happy. The new book sounds wonderful, let some of your friends know if you need some help. We can do stunt sewing, quilting, or order filling...just saying. I would be glad to help, even if it is just sewing parts for you.
ReplyDeleteGreat news on the new book, and I think you are Wonder Woman finishing that many quilts in a year! I can't wait until you visit our guild in November. Oh, and thanks for the diagnosis; I, too, suffer from Attention Deficit Quilting Disorder!
ReplyDeleteadqd...that's too funny! i think that issue needs to be addressed with fabric therapy, rather than drugs! congrats on the signed contract. it's so nice to hear about all the good things that are going on in your life right now - ireland, the cabin, etc. you deserve it all!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I thought it was pretty quick considering it was less a year away & you have a lot to do to write a book!
ReplyDeleteBesides, I still have plenty of Quilts in progress & planned but yet to be started to work on. I am certain the time will go by quickly!
Wonderful news girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteThat is great news! So happy for you!
ReplyDeleteYou've got so many design ideas in your head; I can't wait to see what you're up to with the next book!
ReplyDeleteSo how does the process work for you? Did you complete the projects and then send in a proposal? I am in the editing process of my first book and I sent in a proposal, it was accepted, then the contract, then I made my quilts and wrote the patterns. Now it has been handed over to the editors. Would love to know how it works for someone else.
ReplyDeleteLoving your quiltville style and can only imagine how good your books are. Congrats on the book contract and the great new home too! Have a fun time in Ireland! Much to celebrate for sure :) Kathi
ReplyDeleteYou could say that you were planning to make iced tea all along.....
ReplyDeleteThis is a great week in Quiltville congratulations on all your good news.
ReplyDeleteI just nuke it in the microwave. Mine is mostly coffee as I can't drink coffee if it very hot and hence leave it too long. Oh, well! Off to the microwave. And, congratulations on your new book. You're a workaholic, aren't you? What about your "week-ender" as we call them. Your house in the hills (or bush!) has that been finalised?
ReplyDeleteGood Lord...I don't know how you do it all! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new book deal! :)
I'm looking forward to that book! And I can't wait for the one you've had in the works this year. You amaze me.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new book deal! "A.D.Q.D", huh?....I like it...finally our *condition* has a name! LOL At least you discovered your tea the same day - my coffee sat in the microwave for almost 24 hrs before I found it..haha

ReplyDeleteCongrats to you and the great new book of yours .you r a hard worker and a leed example
ReplyDeleteWoot!!!! A new quiltville book is cause for celebration. I'd only be able to finish a quilt a month if I quit my "real" job and devoted myself full time to quilting. No idea how you get it all done.
ReplyDeletecongrats on both! you deserve the place of relaxation with all the hard work you do!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You never cease to amaze me.
ReplyDeleteYou ARE a busy girl. I first thought the contract was for the new cabin - signed sealed and delivered. I should have know you'd be cranking out another book :) Can't wait for that one.
ReplyDeleteI think you should celebrate with a quilt. Given the events of this week, you could do a Log Cabin + Envelope Block.
ReplyDeleteNann beat me to it - Log Cabin quilt is a MUST for the new book! The idea of 12-13 new quilts for your new book .... holy CATS that is an exhausting thought for a normal person.
ReplyDeleteWell congratulations on your new cottage it is beautiful, you must be so happy. Congratulations on your new book contract, all your years of hard work has come to fruitation
ReplyDeleteYipee! Glad to hear there is another one on the horizon. Guess I should have read this post before I ask the question on the newer post! LOL PS I think that is a song, Sign Sealed delivered, I'm yours! Great now that will be in my head all day!

ReplyDeleteWhen I saw the title about a contract, I thought you'd be sharing some news about the new cabin. But a new book! Yay! You are having a week full of big moments, aren't you? Congrats on both big events, the cabin and the book!
ReplyDeleteWell this is news that makes all of us happy. We love your books. Congrats.
ReplyDeleteYay, a new book! That means that I'll finally be able to order a seam allowance thingy. (I already have all your previous books.)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I know just how you feel (we got a tiny cabin on High Rock Lake this summer) and I can just "hear" it in your voice by what you are saying. I cannot wait to see you settled in and enjoying your sewing time in the mountains. I get excited for you just reading what you post. I do hope you have some sewing events there; I would love to come. You are just such an inspiration to the quilting world. Thanks for sharing...your quilting, your new sewing machines and quilts, your new mountain home, and your humor.
