Attack of the Stuffies ----

I’m begging off on Quilt-Cam tonight.

And for what it’s worth – don’t trust any decongestant that says it is “Daytime Non-Drowsy”!  I took some this afternoon and it still knocked me flat!  I slept from 4:30pm until just after 7pm ---

I don’t feel like doing much of anything ---just relaxing and perhaps finishing that binding that I was working on yesterday.

I’m not THAT under the weather – just a bit of a stuffy nose that hopefully won’t get worse!

I’m thinking the next time that Quilt-Cam would be doable is perhaps Thursday evening at 9pm ---as all through tomorrow and most of Wednesday I’m planning on being otherwise “indisposed”.  Yes.  I talked about that last week ---HERE.

One good thing in the mail today ----I returned from the post office to find THIS box on my door step:

stringgeese 053

Any Guesses??

stringgeese 054

Branded!  Awesome!

Seam guides are available for purchase with any book purchase off my website HERE.  I also sell them at my workshops, so look for them there!

I’m already getting excited for 2013 to begin!

  2. Hope you recover. I've been laid up with this "cold" for a week. It's nasty stuff. Finally went to the doctor today and it's in an upper respiratory infection now. Antibiotics await at the drug store.

  4. I had to get myself to the dr. today....bronchitis. I am on a prescription for 10 days. I hope that you feel better fast. Don't want it to interfere with your other "procedure".

  5. Bonnie ... feel better. It SUCKS to be sick at this time of the year. I am coming down with a humdinger of a cold ... that "cottony" feeling in your head and sneezing like crazy! Ate some candied ginger this afternoon and having a cup of camomille tea before retiring early ... hoping to nip it in the bud. Take care of YOU ... good luck with that exam tomorrow ... you'll do fine and move forward ... Linda

  6. Oh, argh...being sick during the holidays *and* while you're doing colonoscopy prep sounds miserable! I react the same way to "non-drowsy" medications.

Feel better in multiple ways soon - we'll all be excited to see you when you're back on your feet!

  7. Try some American Honey..which is wild turkey with honey in it..it does really help and you can get it at the ABC Store...I want one of the seam guides..won't ya sell the, separately? Yeah, I know it would be a pain and not worth the time to do that???

  8. Rest well and take care of you. The wait for QuiltCam just builds the anticipation. Will hold good healthy thoughts for you.

  9. The worst part of that "test" is drinking the nasty liquid in preparation (make sure it's real cold). The rest is a snap. You'll be fine and online!!

  10. Hope you feel better...probably a good rest is what you need since you're always going 90MPH! LOL
Very COOL seam guide! Me thinks it's time I order your String Fling - we keep selling out in the shop and can you believe, I still don't have my very own copy! (hangs head in shame)

  11. So sorry you have to go through this now before the holidays. I really don't think you'll have much time for reading, you'll find that out yourself. If they don't put you totally to sleep you might ask for a smaller size hose. Yes they have smaller and then watch it on the video screen with the doctor. Thinking about this I might be due for my 2nd. Darn, I should have asked so that I could get insurance to pay without the deductible. You'll do just fine. Hugs, Carolyn

  12. So sorry you are under the weather. I too have sneezed all afternoon, so it looks like I will rest more also. I wanted to finish step 4of Easy Street but tonight the bed sounds pretty good. I will give it another try tomorrow. I have really enjoyed this mystery and I look forward to what comes next. Thanks for the flying geese pattern. Take of yourself and stay warm.

Could you show a pic with this new gadget in the works. I'm looking at and ok, but how do I use this? Thanks.

  14. You take good care of yourself. We do not need a sick Bonnie getting dehydrated, scoped and then really getting sick for the holidays.
I am going to order another String Fling to be a giveaway (also the special seam ripper from the Psychedelic Frog on Etsy) on my blog when Easy Street is finished. So please sign it but not to me. I also want one of those seam guides so I can help my fellow quilters achieve that perfect 1/4" seam!!!
    Take it easy...

  15. Feel better Bonnie. Wednesday will be over before you know it. You will feel renewed with a fresh start for the holidays.

  16. Hi Bonnie - it'll be a breeze. my only advice is not to drink the stuff with ginger ale because its an awful combo. i think it would be better with a chicken broth or something salty.
Anyway - new to your blog. Am making a Bargello but not in plaid.
I'm working on the strips in the first panel and already i am amazed by how different my fabrics look in strips rather that fq's or whatever. I was skeptical but i see them coming together nicely! stay tuned!

  17. Ugh, sorry you aren't feeling well.

I fell Saturday night after taking the grand babies out to see Christmas lights, I was climbing out of the truck and trying not to hit the car next to me with the door, slipped with my flip flop on the running board, landed on my back and head in the parking lot. I got such a lovely goose egg on the back of my head, the swelling was down the next morning but boy have I had a headache ever since. So Sunday I missed quilt cam as I was vegging on the couch.

Hope you are feeling better soon as I have some serious stitching to get to.

BTW I am looking at a sewing machine on craigslist, looks similar to your Bobby, the seller has a crazy work schedule.

  20. Good luck tomorrow :D Hope your stuffies resolve, I'm on my 2nd round of meds now, but I curse myself with working in the local school district in elementary, middle and High schools.
Too tired to work on anything much tonight, altho' I did make a batch of sourdough bread to roll out tomorrow.
    Take it easy !

  21. If "non-drowsy" medicine did that to you, you really needed the rest. Luckily, you will get lots of fluids tomorrow! Relax and take care of yourself. There really is nothing to the procedure...I was worried about not feeling well afterward, but I felt fine after I had a milkshake! (I don't miss too many meals, so not eating was the worst part!) You'll be sewing away before you know it.

  22. That drowsy/woozy feeling MAY be how you'll feel all day Wednesday after your procedure. I used to feel that way every time. Depends on which drug they use. Since I have Crohn's disease, I have become well acquainted with the procedure. Every other year until I turned 56, now we do it annually.

Funny story: Did your doctor tell you not to sign any documents or make financial decisions after your procedure? That's pretty standard when you have anesthesia because you may not remember doing things. I know for a fact this happens as one year after my early morning colonoscopy, I came straight home and went back to bed for a long nap. I woke up very hungry and as I fixed myself something to eat, I thought how inconsiderate of my husband not to see that I had breakfast before I took my nap. A couple of hours went by and no one called to see how I was doing, so I started feeling a little put out that my family seemingly didn't care about me. Before long I called my sister to complain about this. She told me that my husband had stopped at Sonic on the way home and that I ate a breakfast sandwich while I sat at my kitchen table TALKING TO HER. She had told me to call her when I woke up as they had agreed no one should call and disturb my nap!

It was absolutely the strangest feeling to have no memory of what I had done specifically until I was told about it. Then the black curtain fell away and I did remember. It only happened that one time. And that was many years ago. Now the drugs seem very "out like a light" then seemingly no time later your are wide awake.

Wide awake or not, I still go home and take a good nap! And I recommend you do the same! Good luck! I will bee watching for quilt cam on Thursday!

  23. Bonnie...I'll be thinking about you tomorrow as I will be doing the same "thing!"

  24. Sorry you are under the weather.
As to tomorrow: i went through it all a couple of years back. Because i have some other health issues, i had the procedure @ Forsyth hospital. No big deal, and I had the best nap of my life that afternoon. The rest of the time I sewed. (Seems I remember I had prepared my sewing the day before (when i had to stay close to the bathroom) so that i had no need to use rotary post anesthesia. Good luck... and cudos to you for encouraging us to do the same!

  25. Feel better soon Bonnie! My husband had his first colonoscopy about a year before mine. He made it sound terrible. I didn't think the stuff to drink was half as bad as he said, and the procedure was easy as pie.

  26. Girl, You're about to lose weight! I lost like 7 lbs with that procedure, but it came back...darn it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. One of the meds used is Versed and it causes amnesia-that is its purpose-to delete the memory of the actual happenings during the procedure. And a good nap after you get home helps to clear it out of the system-they used to say it cleared in an hour of so, but experience has it more like 3-4 hours to be totally gone. Take care, Bonnie, and enjoy the rest-not that you will remember much of it-darn!

  28. Love your seam guide(so cool to be your own brand), I have used the one you recommended since last fall instead of my not-so-trusty 1/4" foot. I used to recommend to all my students that they had a 1/4" foot but would now highly recommend the seam guide. My piecing is more accurate, although it wasn't out much before, it is just that much better. It is great that it has all the seam measurements on it; not only the 1/4". I would love to get a bunch of those for all the ladies who come to my fall retreat.
Hope all goes well the rest of this week for you. Merry Christmas.

  29. Sounds like you are not that ill at the moment esp after a nice nap. It is possible your current diet is not keeping you as "pepy" as you usually are. I have lived through a sigmoidoscopy and a colonoscopy and I'd do the colonoscopy again anytime the dr says it is necessary if dr orders a sigmoidoscopy I'd ask for the colonoscopy instead. It is a good test it saves lives and I wish you a clean bill of health from your nose to your toes

  34. Hi Bonnie, sending "feel better" wishes your way. This is just your body's way of prepping you for tomorrow. I have had the procedure too. One of the things life throws at us every now and again. You will be back to your usual bubbly self in no time. We will still be here waiting for you. Take your own time! xx

  35. Sure hope you feel better soon. Enjoy reading all those mags tomorrow :) Sure wouldn't do to sneeze much tomorrow, for sure!!! If a sneeze travels at 60 MPH, how fast would that make...no, never mind! Sure wish those seam guides were for sale separately!!! Love the needle hole placement - makes it so precise!!

  36. I really need one of those rulers. I am having the hardest time getting my seams right. But I just bought all five (well four of yours and one other) of your books in N. Wilkesboro when you were there in November. Please sell them indivitually. I have given up on two quilts this year because my blocks don't fit together once I get them all sewn. I used two different machines for the first one and not sure what happened on the second one yet, but I gave up on it until I figure out why.
