iPhone-o-Gram! Home and repacking!

I arrived home about 15 minutes ago.

It was a straight shot home with not a lot of time for dillydallying!

No antique malls beckoned to me.

I did not even stop for IKEA!

I've only got a couple hours of daylight time left to wash the contents of my suitcase, pack it all up again, get all the book orders done that came in the past week while I've been gone, and to get a good nights sleep so that I can fly out to Michigan in the morning!

Of course after loving on Sadie the dog and scratching Emmylou the cat I made a beeline for my cheddar featherweight :-)

The pictures Jeff sent didn't do her justice!

She is as cheddar orange as any school bus driving down the road! :-)

I couldn't be happier, and I cannot wait to sew on her!

I especially love that the underside of her foot oedal is still the fuchsia pink of my long-lost featherweight. She will live on in my memory as I make new memories with this baby!

But that will have to wait until I return home from Michigan. I'm getting very excited about my visit this week and so grateful for the opportunity to do what I do – spend time with you!

  1. Oh Bonnie she is gorgeous. I keep looking out for a feather weight. They are really pricey in the uk. Make sure you get some rest. Have a good flight tomorrow. X

  4. I finally got my Internet service back this afternoon (after Hurricane Sandy), and what a pleasant surprise to see the picture of the new paint job on your Featherweight! She is a real beauty now! I love it! Nice touch that a little bit of pink has been left behind...it will be with you in spirit.

    1. So sorry to hear you have been without power for so long, but am glad that they check to ensure it is safe to restore service... At least the news is reporting that is being done for homes which were flooded. Please know folks all over have been keeping you all in our hearts and prayers. I hope things continue to improve for you.

  6. So- what's her name? She certainly is a classy lady, with a hidden hint of rebel under the pedal Enjoy! I don't know how you travel as much as you do. There's no place like home.

  7. Love the new featherweight. Just a bit of trivia: school bus yellow is called chrome and the paint is registered with the Bureau of Standards. They all have to painted that color and no other bus can use that paint.

  8. Many years ago I took a very young boy to the firehouse for a tour. He was Very indignant because the new firetrucks were white and yellow, not red. I appreciate the school bus color for it's visibility. Bonnie's FW will probably glow like a beacon encouraging her spend some time sewing whenever she has time to breathe. All it needs is flashing lights.

  10. Loving the fuchsia with the school bus yellow. Our school buses are not that colour, but my Aussie husband who was American born spent some time back in the US as a primary school kid and remembers those buses well. He described it to me as canary yellow.
Hope your feather is sewing beautifully?

  12. How wonderful to have the pink underside for a memory.
Does Missy sew well? I worry about my little FW...I power sew so much. I do not want to overheat her.
Today I made 109 more Spool blocks. I have decided I want 4-patches as L&E's. I have a great idea cooking for them.
    XOXOXO Subee

  17. Cute Machine Bonnie! If you are looking for suggestions on a name my thought would be Gigi, in honor of the Gillig Bros. who were important in the early design of the school bus and of course the movie, Gigi with Leslie Caron.

  19. I love her! I'm going to have to get me one of these beauties? Who painted yours? And did you send them a featherweight to paint or did you buy it from them? I want a red one!

  20. I am a beginning seamstress and I would LOVE to have one of those (in black) someday. They are the epitome of glorious, sophisticated yet straightforward design. Lucky you!

  22. She's absolutely gorgeous, but you're going to have to use sunglasses when you sew! LOL But what a bright beautiful color to cheer you up during dark days of winter - or while you're away from home if she's travels with you. And what's her name?

  23. I love the yellow. I am in Michigan and have my featherweight for sale.

  25. Hi Bonnie!
I just LOVE the School Bus Singer!!!!! hee

I have to ask you a question-WHERE do you get your CHEDDAR solid fabric?

I live in a small town in Canada , with no, none, quilt or fabric shops nearby(wha, poor me!). I do all my fabric & etc. shopping on line.
    Thanks a lot!
