ReplyDeleteI can't tell what model that one is from the picture. But I can tell you that I treadle two older black Necchis for my quiltmaking and general sewing, and they are the finest machines I have ever used! Incredibly well engineered--and very responsive to oiling, even if they're frozen at first! I certainly hope it joined you on your ride home!

ReplyDeleteI have a Julia (pink) and a Nova (olive green) and I agree with Dora, they are the most wonderful machines, and are my favorite old ones, as I have a "few" too. Both of mine have cams, and I almost didn't get my new machine, because I didn't think I " needed" it
ReplyDelete( something weird is happening, it won't let me finish typing!) anyway, I did get a new machine, because, well, it was another machine! I would have them ALL if I could! I would snatch that one too, for sure!

hope you bought it. I have that same model in pink and in a cabinet, and it's the best electric vintage machine I've used! I actually prefer it over my Bernina except for machine quilting (only because I can't get the Necchi feed dogs to drop for me).

Beautiful machine - are you starting a sewing machine museum? It's amazing all the different makes and models. Do the backroad antique stores have better deals? I've gone into a few asking about tatting shuttles, but not many.

ReplyDeleteOh, Oh, Oh, Necchi story!!! I have a Necchi that was my Grandmother's!! In the drawer of the cabinet (that was purchesed with it) I even have the origianal reciept!! It was purchased for $367.50 (cabinet and machine) on July 3, 1968!! How cool is that!! And the delivery was July 4th!! Some day I will even get it working again! (It worked till about 8 years ago, then died in mid stitch the day before my Mother passed!! Wierd!)
