Just Doodling!

Okay...so working on this mystery non-stop has gotten to me too,and yesterday afternoon I had to get OFF my butt (meaning the chair at my sewing machine...it was about to have to be surgically removed after all these sewing days!)and do something else!

I bet you didn't know that you can burn calories long arm machine quilting? At least I am aware of certain things...I stand taller...as I move from side to side, it's careful and with a purpose, which means I can feel certain muscle groups tightening, and you can focus on holding your belly in during this pass, do your keegle (kagle?) exercises through this block, etc. Put on some peppy music and it can be "Quilting to the Oldies!!" Remember to breathe.. :c)

Who did I put on?? BILLY JOEL!! Yes, this week I'm reliving my highschool music.

SO what did I quilt? Remember some months back I was trying to clear out some random orphan blocks and pieced a couple tops? This one was all 9" blocks. There is even one spare rosebud block from the quilt that went into the book...a scrappy rejected version of another quilt from the book, and some leftover big triangle setting blocks from something else..just a mishmash of everything. No way I wanted to hand quilt it...it's fairly boring. But it made for good doodling.

I think I'll bind it and put it on my dining table. Now that the holiday quilts...Halloween Through Christmas are put away, it needs something new :c)

Off to the binding.....

And yes...Part 5 is now up!

So inspired by your allowing yourself so much freedom in your design and color and quilting. When you custom quilt (which is what I would call your doodling)do you SID?

  3. Shelly, when Bonnie custom quilts, she does wonders.

Now Bonnie, when I first read about the mystery and that the parts wouldn't be spaced at specific two week intervals, I was thinking they might be a week sometimes and other times three or even four. We are only on day four and we are on part five. Yikes! Gotta get off the computer, let my group know part 5 is up, and get some more of those squares in squares sewn. Thank heaven I found my EZ angle.

  4. Hi Bonnie,

I am always so inspired by you and Double Delight is turning out beautiful. I love how you combine colors! I just watched your video on part 4 and it was so helpful even though I am not taking part in this mystery. I am a self-taught lone quilter and I just kind of make it up as I go along, therefore, I do things the hard way a lot of times just not knowing any other way. Watching you on the video made me think "why didn't I think of that?" And "Wow, that makes total sense now!" Thanks so much for the constant inspiration!!!

  5. Hey Bonnie while working on the cute little pink 9 patches, I was thinking the perfect Icon for the DD would be a double decker ice cream cone. What ya think.

Never considered doing Kegle exercises while quilting! My Doc would approve, I am certain!

    Wonderful work, dear Lady.

  10. I am relieved that you are taking a break from DD -- that gives me a chance to do so, too! It is turning out splendidly. If I didn't have to go back to work today.....

  11. Ok, so I know I'm addicted when....
I check back to your blog 5x today and counting to see when the next addition of Bonnie's Life will be uploaded. Bonnie, didn't you know that you can't leave the house, go shopping or take a moment off when I count on seeing this blog updated everyday!?!?!?!?

Just kidding. Actually, no, not really. Anyway, hope you're having a great day doing whatever you're doing!
