Rain. For. Days!

All of this rainy autumn weather means it's SOUP SEASON!!

And with Irene doing all of the cooking for her October Sewciologists, we've enjoyed such awesome soupy lunches in the dining room at Quiltville Inn!

As pretty as the porch looks, it's been far too wet and windy to want to be out there.

I keep hoping for a bit of October sunshine to just enjoy that great porch space for just a bit longer -

But the truth is - we are just as cozy and conversational in this space as well!

Straits of Mackinac with Irene's Sewciologists!

We dug in to Straits of Mackinac from String Frenzy yesterday morning as rain continued to pelt the world outside.

Quilting, friendship, and being cozy inside?  Perfection!

Nothing puts a smile on my face faster than walking up the front steps of the inn (Where I can see that all of the lights are on, and there is already much quilty activity happening in the sewing room!) opening the door with a "Good Morning!" and finding myself surrounded by yummy smells coming out of the kitchen, and the sound of machines and laughter filling the space.

Embracing Fall!

With the emptying of the Wallburg house - some things were discovered in the attic that I hadn't set eyes on in more than a dozen years!

These light up Jack o' lanterns haven't seen the light of day since the movers packed us up in Irmo, SC for the move to Wallburg, NC in 2008!

Upon the Hubster's return to Virginia last Sunday - along with some things I KNEW were coming - this box came along as a bonus.

I cleaned them up, set them out, and plugged them in to be enjoyed by my October groups retreating at Quiltville Inn.

A Day of Blue Ridge Driving -

Pumpkins.

As far as the eye can see!

And not really a great place to pull off and photograph them - until Martha decides that no one will mind and drives me right out into the middle of the field.  LOL!

Harvest has been underway for a few weeks now - and it is my absolute FAVORITE season.  I love to see the pumpkin wagons bumping on down the highways - all of the gorgeous globes stacked in huge crates being carried off to destinations far and wide.

How far do they travel?  I don't know - but it feels so festive!
