In a Happy Sea of Aqua -

It's a good sign when your rotary cutter matches the project you are trimming up!

Every day there is a mail delivery, you can find me giddily bringing home squishy envelopes to open on the couch while we continue to celebrate the restful week in between Christmas in New Years by watching old favorites.

Yesterday it was Back To The Future, which never disappoints.

I know it so well that I can read all of the little notes inside each envelope and not miss a beat. Thank you so much for all of the gifted strip love!

The notes have been wonderful, and I'm so happy to know a bit more about YOU.  Where you are from, what these fabrics have appeared in, where you acquired them.

Each little gifted piece -

As that cute neutral says: Whoo Hoo!

This batch is done!

I save the depapering for evening TV watching time, tucked into my recliner with a trash can resting between my knees.

When all of the paper is removed, I pin units in sets of 10 to easily keep count of how many I've made - and I've got them all!

I'll be on to the next unit starting today - things are moving along!

And Lola is ready to help!

Yesterday was a 2 cat day - when Lola went downstairs for the night, a routine she decided that she herself could live with, look who came in:

The only reason she is in between my knees?  Hubster Dave was out at a corn hole tournament.

It's evident that he is her chosen favorite person, and I'm okay with that.  Were he here, she would be in his lap getting pets, not mine.

And the reason?  Does it look like I'm here to give pets? Or are my hands too occupied for the required amount of petting to happen?

It's fair to see why I am second choice.

I put the hexies down, and gave her what was required.

Where were the dogs at this time?  Mabel loves the bed that's in the big crate.  It's her safe cave spot.

Zoey was on the floofy pet pillow in front of the gas fireplace. All were warm and cozy.

And it was the perfect end to a day with a crazy change of plans:

Somehow, the temperature got pushed down on the QPO studio fridge just a bit too low and arrived this morning to two exploded cans of diet coke.

And yes, the coke had leaked out of the mini fridge, onto the floor...a big brown liquid mess.⁣
Cleaning out the fridge was on my to do list but it wasn't supposed to be yesterday.

Evidently, the universe had other ideas, and so it was yesterday.

Of course, that led to not cleaning only the fridge, but all of the areas around the fridge, and the floor, and on to some shelves, and into the next area and....

Do you get this way too at the end of the year? I know it is supposed to be a "RELAX" week between Christmas and New Years - but the urge to clean all the things and start the new year off fresh is SO STRONG.

Maybe if I just set my mind to sitting behind my machine and get back to piecing, I'll forget about all of that cleaning nonsense at least for one day?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Overslept. Now dealing with slow moving and much stiffness. ⁣
The will to get moving is strong.

The body doesn't wish to obey.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone

Knowing you and your boundless energy, you’ll clean before sewing. Happy New Year! Sandi Z.

Good morning! I am planning on one more "pieceful" day today, then I should be caught up with all things mystery quilt related. I want to clean my sewing room as best as I can to see what I have to start the New Year with, and maybe a few other spots in the house needs attention. I'm loving the new project, it's bright & springy! Happy Caturday!! :)

  3. I just love your blog. I'm just a beginner at this quilt business, and am no spring chicken, so the learning is slow and steep - and SO much fun. I love that you are getting aqua fabric from all over the world - what fun that is.

  4. Stiffness seems to be the name of the game these days. What is the pattern behind the quote? I am in the midst of the "cleaning thing" too. It feels good to look at what I have accomplished and then the fun stuff becomes even more fun. Have a lovely day.

As 2024 comes to a close I sit and think back on how much I enjoy your blog each morning. The mystery for me is good for a major part of the year. Indigo Way and Grassy Creek were both given as QOV. Thank you for all you do for us. May you have a blessed 2025.

I saw a cleaning tip on the internet to use Barkeeper's Friend on a toaster. I had some and it worked like a charm. Idly cleaned off a handle on a cabinet in the kitchen. Made it sparkle like fresh brass. Realized too late how many handles and drawer pulls there are in a kitchen......two weeks later still scrubbing and muttering a lot! Marilyn Marks

Life has slowed quite a bit here as well. I am catching up on ‘Old Town’ as well as household chores that have been pushed to the side for holiday festivities. May you have a wonderful day of sewing and relaxing! Hugs!

  8. Know the hip thing well, although for me it is my recently operated back that makes the "rotisserie" thing a full-fledged "wake up and rearrange the pillows" adventure. Some how last night I made it from 2:45 to 6:40 am without waking, so the pain level with moving must have been low enough for some minor shifting without the full fledged tortured pillow flipping routine. It probably helped that hubby had gone out to the couch some time during that interval. I need a full hour less sleep per night when not being kicked or listening to him snore. Eight gift quilts to label today ("baby" quilts, five for older siblings that never got theirs in a timely fashion, so wanted to be AFTER Christmas, so not confused as Christmas presents) and donation quilts from my church quilt group to drop off at a homeless shelter. After that, and writing the annual report for the church group, I can get back to sewing with a clear conscience.

  9. Today is hopefully finishing the long arming and getting binding on the last of 3 memory quilts- then trying to slow down and have fewer projects in the line at 1 time, so will attack a star sampler the has been on my list for an unknown number of years

Love love aquas! I'm from Michigan and some day I will make Mackinac. I've almost got enough aqua! We are out of town until the New Year, so we "straightened up" before leaving. I so enjoy coming home to a clean house.

  12. It's a good day when my body let's me sleep. Forgot to turn off my alarm. I was so asleep, hubby had to tell me it was going off. I hope my scraps put a little sparkle in your project. It was fun to share some with you.. What color is next?.
    Happy Weekend!
