It's been a fun few days with the Brown Bird Bee in residence at Quiltville Inn!
What a fantastic group of ladies - so eager to jump right in and get sewing, and keep sewing!
It rained pretty much non-stop yesterday, so it was a perfect day for sewing and I was ever so grateful with the confirmation that we had chosen the RIGHT day to squeeze in our Appalachian Trail hike the day before.
However, the rain didn't stop a carload of ladies from heading to Jefferson, NC to explore the town and rummage through the antique mall in search of goodies.

We turned it on for just a little while because it really wasn't that cold out - just enough for some ambiance and to cook everyone out of the room. LOL.
This is where I spent much of my time yesterday.
Isn't it a wonderful thing when a project you dove into by the seat of your pants starts to come together?

My heart is devastated with the loss of lives on both sides. I shouldn't need to state that, but the messages I've been receiving from people who obviously don't know me prove otherwise.
Everything is so raw. After spending a week in Poland between Krakow, the Krakow Ghetto and all of the history that happened there, a full day in Auschwitz Birkenau, and several days in Warsaw and learning about the Warsaw Ghetto and the uprising that lead to the complete destruction of Warsaw - I feel I need to do this.
After spending a few days in Rome shortly after leaving Poland I learned that an early Pope also rounded up all of the Jews and kept them in a ghetto there for over 300 years.
Yes - over 300 years.
On July 14, 1555, Pope Paul IV issued his bull “Cum nimis absurdum,” which subjected the Jews under his dominion to a long list of restrictions and humiliations, most notably the requirement that the Jews of Rome live within a closed area. This became the Rome Ghetto, the mandatory home of the city’s Jews until its abolishment in 1870.
When will humankind learn to do better? I don't see that we've come that far. Keeping Palestinians for all intents and purposes imprisoned in Gaza is kind of the same thing and I have no answers. For any of it. None.
I know we all wrestle with our own differing opinions. Let's not lose our own humanity in the process.
