This is a beautiful Good Friday sunrise as Sadie and I made our way out for a 2.5 mile hike.
We have this loop we like to do –actually, I don’t know why I am saying “WE” because she would be happy to go anywhere, but this is an easy trail, up our street, through the woods, down an incline and up a dirt road along a ridge.
It’s a gentle climb up, but that means it’s a nice gentle slope down as we reach our turn around spot at Steve’s drive.
Usually when we are out we come across Steve and his dog Zeke out for their morning walkies as well ---Zeke and Sadie saying hello by touching noses and sniffing dog parts.
I’m so happy Sadie is a sociable dog. She may be a bit wary at first, but she doesn’t bark, doesn’t growl, and she quickly lets her ruffled fur down and makes instant friends.
Come on Mom, you are taking too long!
These distant long range views will be lost as soon as trees leaf out!
Valley below, turning greener with every passing day!
Climbing back up the hill to my drive!
By far, the WORST part of our hike is the short stretch of steep dirt road out in front of the cabin. If this doesn’t get you huffing and puffing, nothing will.
Can you see my daffies still blooming? I don’t know how miuch longer they will last.
Tree blooms and forsythia bush blooms and a distant ridge.
The Hubster’s shed project in progress.
Through the trees (Most are pine) you can see another distant soon-to-be-lost-sight-of ridge. We are surrounded on our knoll, but you wouldn't know it unless you saw the view in winter. Once hardwood trees are in full leaf, the long range views disappear.
Oh how I love this place.
I brought some projects up with me to finish this weekend. Or at least make as much progress as I can.
I am binding the String Spiderweb.
The H blocks are here…but I need to do some other deadline stuff first.
The Lozenges are here….but I need to do some other deadline stuff first!
Hunks & Chunks of Blue!
When I don’t have time to cut down boxes of gifted fabric, I sort them by color, keeping only what I will use and place them in these holding bins to be cut down as time allows.
Since most of my “home time” involves cabin time, I’ve moved my Accuquilt Studio die cutter up to the cabin. I have more room to cut here. I have a project that NEEDS a blue piano key border. My plan is to press and process these bins down to usable strips.
This is the DREGS of the blues….Mona’s gotten a couple of quilts out of here already! So there are short pieces, and stuff she couldn’t get 2.5” strips out of. It will be perfect for what I need.
Speaking of Mona – I’m so excited!
She and Rick are coming for Easter dinner on Sunday. Monday morning she is coming back to my house with me and we are going to long-arm quilt her first quilt! Maybe two if we can get to it. She is coming for a sleep over! This will be fun!
Sneak Preview for Monday!
I will be participating in a blog hop given by Julia Woods! Do you love hexies? If so, be sure to pop back on by on Monday morning….we’ve got a treat for you!
Enjoy your weekend. Love your family. Call your friends. Count your blessings.
I count you as mine!
I was looking at those two books yesterday at Joanne's! Drool, Drool.

What a beautiful place! I would have a hard time staying indoors quilting---In fact Spring outside is why I'm not making much progress on any of my quilting projects at the moment….Oh, well, it is supposed to rain Easter Sunday. We need it so bad here in No. Calif. So, I won't complain…The Dogwood is blooming!
ReplyDeleteAnd you as mine. Your always cheerful posts and wonderful thoughts have made such a difference in my life! That's in addition to all the quilting knowledge. Have a Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteYour cabin is a beautiful place. I wish you a Happy Easter and are looking forward to see your new projects. I have started chopping fabrics for your Garden Party. I do not have the pattern, but go for 1,5 inch strips.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, thank you so much for sharing the beautiful Good Friday Sunrise. I hope that you have a wonderful Easter.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your "free time".

Enjoy your Easter weekend, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteHello Bonnie. May you have a very happy and blessed Eastertime with your family and friends in your beautiful cabin and at home. Looking forward to hearing how you get on with quilting with Mona.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter Bonnie, FYI.... because of your visit at our LOL retreat, I've got a bad case of scrappy fever, and it is your fault, hehe, what fun!

ReplyDeleteI love your pictures of your morning walk and your daffodils, how lovely. I can't wait to see my tulips come up here in the midwest!
ReplyDeleteHello, what a beautiful place. We just came home to Minnesota, from spending March in Tennesee, near Pigeon Forge, We saw the Dogwoods, and the Daffodils. And fell in love with the Mountains. So I know what you mean when you say you love your place. Who knows someday we could be neighbors. A blessed Easter to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful mountain sunrise! Happy Easter weekend!
ReplyDeleteHugs Bonnie, I count you as a friend as well.
