The underwriter missed one key piece of information – and left town on vacation – leaving the finishing up and scrambling to someone else.
And we have missed our deadline to be able to close tomorrow at 10am.
If they still get the info in by close of office today, we can move our closing time to 3pm tomorrow.
If they miss that deadline….it will be after the holiday.
You know, in the whole entire scheme of the universe, it matters little. It’s just a little thing, closing on time, or closing late – but I was so counting on it, this celebrating a long holiday weekend with both of my boys, the dog, and us up at the new cabin, building new memories together.
Whether we end up closing on the cabin now or later --- the 4th of July will still come to pass.
And it can be celebrated here at home as well as away at a cabin. we can make a good time of it, regardless.
But I was so hoping.
I’m still planning on Quilt-Cam tonight, heaven knows I need a bit of distracting! Are you up for it? Join me at 9pm Eastern, and let’s sew!
Still got my fingers crossed for you, Bonnie ... it COULD happen!! Linda
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to have those hopes dashed--even if they aren't that important in the grand scheme of things. I hope it still works out for you. Sounds like a very fun family holiday!
ReplyDeleteAfter the housing crisis there is no such thing as customer service in anything associated with mortgages. My daughters both had issues and one was trying to sell her home in an all cash deal before foreclosure became a reality. Elder daughter buying a new home had 3 weeks of every one saying they had done everything, before she made a checklist with the bank and did all the phone calls herself. My SIL finally did the same since they followed her example just 5 months later. They don't care and told him as much.
ReplyDeleteI feel you pain. My closing on my home is 19 July! Just got info on the VA appraisal...discrepancy between the builder amount vs the appraisal amount. Now a waiting game. I TRUELY feel the pins and needles. I could use the distraction also. Will be tuning in tonight.
ReplyDeleteOh, Bonnie, I still hope it will happen for you and your family!
ReplyDeleteSending lots of encouragement your way!!!!
I whish I could watch quiltcam live tonight; but I had just a few hours of sleep the last two nights; so I'll have to catch a bit more to get me threw tomorrow.....
And as I live in the Netherlands; it would be rather late tonight... ;)
But thinking of you when I go to sleep; and sending some prayers up..
I know, in the whole grand scheme of things.......; but still...!
Hope you will receive lots of encouragement of the "global quilting sisterhood"!!
Ria.

It is so frustrating when someone else's mistake messes up your plans. I hope they get it all fixed soon.
ReplyDeleteOh, Man - and such good things planned for the first holiday at your cabin. You and yours deserve this dream! I do hope you get your wish, but I know your family will punt on this if it doesn't happen. Happy Fourth, Bonnie - wherever you celebrate it!
ReplyDeleteOur horror house sale closing had us homeless for a weekend as the sale of our house went through without a hitch and the purchase of our new home stalled at 5pm on a Friday. Learned never to plan on things happening on time and never finalize a sale on a Friday.
ReplyDeleteWe just went through this same scenario! It was so stressful, but over now and you will get there too!! Best wishes
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I hope it works for you. I am supposed to close on our house on Monday and the underwriters are also making waves. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Did you ended up in Seven Devils?
ReplyDeleteIt may still go through--always darkest before the dawn...hoping you will be able to go for the long weekend...Hugs, Julierose P.S. See you on QC tonight! for sure...hugs...
ReplyDeleteHope you get to close on time! Deb
ReplyDeleteKeeping my fingers crossed for you! Remember, there's a reason for everything, but I know this is very frustrating for you. Have a wonderful holiday and keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Nancy

My fingers are crossed as well. I sure hope it all gets taken care of in time for you to close. Looking forward to seeing you tonight!
ReplyDeleteI hope everyone "hops to it" and get's the paperwork in on time, so you are able to close tomorrow. If not, as you said you've got family with you and you'll make memories no matter where you are. I'll cross my fingers after I finish typing this ... LOL
ReplyDeleteClosing on a home is very stressful, so sending hugs and prayers for a quick finish for you. I am all ready for QuiltCam tonight, got my binding project right here to work on.
ReplyDeletePraying that everything goes okay for tomorrow. Our daughter was expecting and her due date was Feb. 17th and our first granddaughter arrived on that date. Her water broke early in the morning, but didn't appear until 4:45 in the afternoon. So can be a little late. In fact we were had one day left of our quilt guild winter retreat and had to make arrangements for someone else to open the building up as I was in charge of the key and had to get to Des Moines to see that little precious thing. So know that you cabin will be a precious place. From northern Iowa. . . .
ReplyDeleteThe rule is never close the day before a holiday. If something could go wrong it will.Last year the day before Memorial day was our closing. Was to be in the morning changed to the afternoon. We were there past supper time. We had planned on going to a funeral. We were
ReplyDeletethere for hours. Our company could not get the check to go on line. Finally which is never heard of is the company we were at paid the two realtors there money. We had to go back the day after the holiday to sign the very last paper. My sons family wanted to move in over the holiday while he did not have to work. What a mess.
Mercury is retrograde. You can expect contracts to be delayed and schedules to be misunderstood. Things go 'forward' again on July 22nd. (From your friendly astrologer/quilter!)
ReplyDeleteOh, Bonnie, wishing y'all good luck on getting the closing over and done with!
ReplyDeleteIt's important to you and your family. Fingers crossed. This is sooo exciting. I live vicariously through you, in more ways than one.
ReplyDeleteThink Positive!!! Sending many positive vibes your way.
