A Quiet Mother's Day -

When was the last time you had a quiet weekend for yourself?

It truly doesn't happen enough around here, but on the tail end of returning home from my whirlwind week in Idaho, after blood draw appointments and physical therapy appointments and zoom meetings with publisher stuff I found myself with Saturday and Sunday wide open.

I brought my machine and project over to the Inn and set up to sewing with the ladies - retreat style - and fully enjoyed myself to the point where I didn't take many photos at all!

And that's okay.

What was I working on?  Samples for our next Leader & Ender challenge coming up in July and I can't wait to show you.  But not yet!

Everyone was packed up and gone by noon to finish off their own Mother's Day celebrations with family - and while laundry ran I kept sewing in between load switching.  It was awesome!

So what is this Mother's Day photo doing up at the top?

I want to share a promotion I received by email so I can pass it on to you!

When you reserve any new Craftours tour within the next week, you may enjoy $250 off your booking.

We didn't even get around to doing any over-the-porch-rail photos this weekend - Not enough folks had projects done to completion and I had already shared what finishes there were in previous posts o but there were a couple of fun things still up on deck.

Okay. Curves scare me.  Maybe its because of all the pinning.  Maybe because I have to sew slower! LOL! But Other than the one Drunkard's Path baby quilt I pieced by hand, I've just never gone back to curves. (Maybe I'm a one and done?)

Lisa is piecing this one, from a free pattern found on the Moda website. It's going to be fantabulous.

There was a swap of mini-novelty fabrics cut into 2 1/2'' squares - and little "I spy" quilts were being made during retreat.

Check out these cuties!

All of the fun comes with the color placement - These prints are so cute - look at that telephone!

Do you like mini novelties? I do!

Things continue to bloom...the Mountain Laurel is really opening up now on the side of my drive. (Yes - I'm still up on hiking the drive. But today it is supposed to rain all day and I'm kind of glad to take a day off to be honest!)

The Rhododendron at the inn is heavily at PEAK!

I tried to get close and zoom in on a bee that was busy with the blossoms and he wasn't having it so I gave up.  I don't want a mad bee incident!

Mother's Day dinner on the Blackstone - we did Japanese style hibachi steak, fried rice and  veggies.

It was delicious and I love that we can now enjoy cook out season.  Except for today.  Did I mention that it is raining?  With highs back in the 50s?

We need the rain so badly so I'll take it.

Today I'll move my sewing stuff back to the studio - and I've got some desk days ahead.  Guess what happens on Friday?

Crackers & Jam release day & Gift-Away!

I'm really excited to get this one out to you - I know you've been waiting for it.

I hope everyone had a peaceful Mother's Day weekend.  I know Mother's Day is hard for many as we miss the mothers who are no longer with us, or mourn the kind of mother you never had.

Holidays like this are filled with so much emotion and no matter what I hope you remembered to be kind to yourself and to offer yourself some grace and some space, whatever you need.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

And I love that retreaters know me well enough to leave behind a pile of scraps to work in the future quilts!

Do you have friends that gift you their cutoffs?

It's the gift that keeps on giving!

Have a marvelous Monday, everyone -

I have my L/E loaded on the long arm but will wait for the ProStitcher 6 to come in and get installed so I can finish it with that. Can't wait.

  3. Thanks for posting the correction.
I often don't get greetings from my two adult children, and I have learned to accept that. But yesterday I heard from everyone in the evening, along with greetings from relatives, and my husband cooking the dinner I bought. It was a lovely day after all! P.S. Curves scare me too. I've had limited success with them!
