Quilting Into The Weekend!

This kind of chilly and blustery has everyone back to dining inside the house -

Come on, Porch Season - Where are you?

And It really doesn't matter as long as there are good friends, good food, good conversation happening all around.

Throughout the day some went to visit a quilt shop, some stayed in their jammies sewing, some of us even got out for a dirt road hike!

When it's your retreat you can do whatever you like however you like!

Walking down a long and winding gravel/dirt road.

And of course we had to stop and take photos of the cows.

And zoom in on the white-faced baby! So cute!

There is a second calf hiding behind the mama - can you see it?

Back at the retreat there were pretty things in the making -

Cute cute cute!

This is the one where you take a random four sided shape and sew strips around it of various sizes and square it down to some measurement - if you know where the tutorial is, please leave it in the comments below!

Brightly is coming together!

Ring the bell for a top finish!

Whooooo! These have a very "Sister's Choice" appeal but with curves!

Checkers & Chains by Sew Kind of Wonderfl.

Accidental photo -

I don't know how this got here, but I have these on my phone a lot.  LOL!

I put Flame Azalea up on the foyer wall for some spring appeal!

Usually these accidental photos tend to be of the ground or my feet. Hilarious.

Wild Child from String Fling ion progress!

Some On Ringo Lake blocks have found themselves in the center of a lap quilt with borders going round and round and round and round.

Sew busy, Sew happy!

Meanwhile off the back porch -

Treat time!

And it's a miracle she hasn't knocked the bottles off the windowsill yet.

I'm thinking she needs a cat hammock here - she loves to watch out the window!

As to my own progress?

I'm about half-way.

Still lots more to make!

At the recommendation of my dad, I've been binging "Forsyte Saga" on Netflix.  The 2002 PBS version.

If you are a Downton Abbey fan, or any of the Jane Austen movies fan - check this one out!  It's a GREAT binge.

There is also a 2026 remake coming on PBS, but this one is on Netflix and I wanted to watch it fist.

It's currently 28. with a projected high of only 47 today. Good thing we got our hike in yesterday. No hike today!

But we do need to draw for our 2 winners in my Brookgreen Gift-Away!

Looks like your cat in the windowsill has two tails....one with a black and white stripe! LOL!

The quilt with a small piece surrounded by another color was originally made by Terry Rowland as a colorwash quilt. I think her demo is on Youtube. Kate of the Last Homely House has made a quilt in this fashion too.

The random squares quilt top is from Terry Roland. Everyone refers to them as a Terry quilt.

There is also a 1967 version of the Forsyte Saga that I remember watching (with my parents) on PBS Masterpiece theatre in the late 60's or early 70's. I loved the pictures of mom and calves. Thank you for sharing Bonnie - it's always a treat to hear about the Quiltville Saga each morning! - Barbara

Have you watched “The Gilded Age” yet? Stars Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon and Carrie Coon. Three seasons on HBO, but I was able to get the DVDs at my local library. It’s excellent! And there will be a Season 4. Sue

The photo of Hazel in the window looks like she has a lemur tail (the figurine behind her). LOL Looking forward to seeing the porch rail photos and the project in progress with flying geese/strings. Kathy M

Beautiful Hazel would probably LOVE a quilted window hammock! So appropriate for the Quilt Studio Queen. Judy D.

Looking at that picture of Hazel in the window, I have to ask, what the heck kind of second tail does she have? It’s straight up and striped! I had to look twice at that picture. Yes, she does need a cat hammock. I bet her mom has some orphan blocks that would make a beautiful scrappy hammock fit for a queen like her.

I don’t know the official name of that little block, but Kate from The Last Homely House in England calls them Terry Blocks after the quilter who first showed them to her. Also, check out Hazel’s second “rail” in the window picture. I had to look twice to see what it was! MargaretJ

The quilt pattern is called Colour Wash by Terry Rowland of T Row Studio. She has tutorials on her YouTube Channel, and you can find her on Facebook.

  19. LOL...something behind Kitty in the window is giving her the appearance of having a long black and white striped tail!

The quilt you ask about looks like a Terry Rowland block. She is a Canadian quilter (online) and makes some wonderful quilts with this block.

  21. The little baby calf is so precious. Love seeing pics on your walks.
Terry Rowland has a really good video on YouTube to make the Color Wash Quilt. One of these days I will make one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UQE5SlOLqg
Have a great weekend everyone. Thanks for the inspiration with all your projects. Jenny
