Something really fun happened while I was on my way to Egypt at the beginning of the month.
Two of my nieces have graduated high school!
I am so proud of them both and can't believe that they are now entering the world as adults and making grown-up choices about what they want to do with their futures.
Of course, this means that Auntie Bonnie sends quilts.
My biggest hope, of course, is that I will send quilts that they will love - that go with how they want to decorate their dorm, apartment, or shared house in the next few years.
This is what I sent them!
When my sister Mary showed me how Mykenzie has painted her room in shades of navy, blue and raspberry, I just knew that my Frolic quilt needed to go to her.
Mykenzie is the eldest of 4 children and the ONLY girl - and is just a delight to be around.
Her plans are to go to cosmetology school. We think she will be fantastic in this field!

It's always nerve wracking to put a quilt in a box and ship it across the country, hoping it will make its destination. We've all heard stories of how quilts get "lost in the mail" and I was so relieved to get the unboxing photos!
Mykenzie's cousin Kelli has received Good Fortune to call her own as she continues on with her education at college. I'm not sure of her major, but I know she will be fantastic at whatever she sets her mind to. She is a go-getter and will reach for the stars!
When I asked Kelli what colors she liked she responded in a very decisive manner: "I love burnt orange and sage green," Well, okay then!
According to her, this fits the bill perfectly.
As for future quilts, Auntie Bonnie doesn't want to be caught over a barrel with a quilt request that I don't have readily on hand.
I think from here on out it's going to be random scrappy which should fit ALL requests, right??
How many nieces/nephews are still in the line up? At last count 9. Luckily they don't all graduate the same year.
Sign in the office of the MRI place yesterday!
Yesterday's drive over to Mountain City TN for the MRI was a bit crazy. I made the mistake of going by GPS and letting it take me -
Mostly because a great portion of that route has zero cell service, and if I tried to reroute myself, I doubt the GPS would have kicked in at any given time to straighten me out.
I ended up on every crazy winding mountain road that went to gravel, and then even narrower one lane gravel!
Oh, yes - it was a beautiful day for a drive but I was laughing so hard with every turn hoping it would get me there.
And it did. Even though I found myself crossing the Virginia Creeper bike trail at one point. LOL!!
Needless to say, I didn't take that route home. I played "dot-to-dot" and sent myself from one town to the next just to stay on main highways and paved roads.
I've got the CD of my scans in hand, and will deliver them to the ortho guy at my appointment next week. The radiologist will also send his report to the ortho guy so we will be ready to move on to whatever the next step is with this knee.
All 3 on the bed?!
Evidently Ivy is seeking refuge and protection from the dogs as Lola continues to prowl and terrorize her at every turn she gets.
How long can this go on?
I'm fully invested now that Lola needs to live at home where there is more interaction for her - but that interaction can't be in the form of predatory behavior towards Ivy.
Calming collars are on order.
Stone beehive houses in Ireland!
Have you heard of the ancient beehive houses in Ireland?
There are beehive houses, or clochán, all over County Kerry, including at the spectacular Skellig Michael.
I love how wildflowers find a way to bloom from the cracks!
It’s likely that hermit monks and followers of Saint Peter once lived in them, though pagans may have also called some of the cone-shaped structures home even earlier.

I loved our stop on the road with Ireland group 2 for a chance to see these up close - well worth the €4 and included the pleasure of holding baby lambs during the same visit.
Today should be an easier day. Lola has already had her meds - I'm headed over to the inn to make sure that Tula gets hers and to finish up on the laundry from the last retreat.
I'm playing SLOW today - there may even be time or some sewing.

ReplyDeleteI know you tried one brand of the calming diffusers, but consider trying the Feliway brand. I had been using the Feliway, it worked pretty well, saw a different brand, tried that and I might as well as had water in the diffusers. So I might be worth trying the Feliway brand, maybe along with the collars. All situations are different, but it might be worth a try. I have to use 3 of them in our house to get good coverage, so you might need several in your cabin, too.

I had 3 great-nieces graduate this year and had quilts for them. One great-nephew graduates next year and I need to make a more masculine quilt for him.
ReplyDeleteWe adopted 2 cats last summer and they wore calming collars till Christmas. There is also a plug-in diffuser for the room they stay in most often. That stuff really works!

ReplyDeleteGreat quilts for the Graduates. My Grand- grads got $$$ and a monogrammed towel. So glad you can get your knee looked at. Winding roads are good when you aren't late for an appointment.
