Hexies Found! Travel Ahead!

It's not "the big vintage jar" of paper hexies that I've been wracking my brain hoping to find - but this will do!

I knew I had started "something" hexie-ish - and the last time I remember traveling with anything like this was possibly our trip to Kenya in October of 2019.

Was it really that long ago?  My how time flies when you are living through a global pandemic.

But I digress -

I had a photo of a tile floor that would make a very interesting hexie quilt. I envisioned working it in brights in interesting color combos - and here is the evidence of my start, but where was the photo of the tile floor to give me more direction?

I found that too - and through I'm not even going to flirt with the idea that this will be another gazillion-piece queen-sized hexie project, I think it will be fun to play with bright and colorful pieces and whimsical little prints for a while.

There is a lot of travel happening for me in 2023, and SOMETHING has got to occupy my hands!

I think I'm going to pull more Kaffe scraps into this one - I think the colors and prints will really bring some interest - and who knows what I'll pick up on my journeys to also include.

That's the fun, isn't it?

Speaking of journeys -  This was mine yesterday:

A visit to the mammo bus!

Now how about those mountains and an impending storm as backdrop? Talk about dramatic!

Our mammo suite is having a make-over at Ashe Memorial Hospital - so they've got the mammo bus in the parking lot.

I'm game!  Besides, I'd rather go into a bus than a hospital setting.

They've got quite the setup in here!

All done, and only a bit wet getting from the bus to the car.

This is what 61 and all caught up on mammos looks like.  I'm always glad to have this taken care of, but I do get a bit nervous waiting for the results to come in.

From here it was a visit to the chiropractor in anticipation of some very long flights happening in the very near future.

Boobs smashed, back cracked - I'm good to go!

There was just enough time to attend to the 80 kits for my Ireland travelers happening in June.

I am eliminating as much weight and bulk as I can for my luggage, so I am trimming margins off of the printed Stick 'n Stitch, removing the backing and having the overlay place on to each linen square, and a needle put into one corner.

I'll be packing them as tightly as possible in anticipation for this trip. 

There is more to do - but since all of my other things on the pre-travel list are just about done - I can get done what I can on these before I go.

OH Mabel!

I'm feeling mostly like this.  Afraid I've forgotten something important, yet knowing I have everything I need - my visa, my travel documents, my passport - 

Oh, need to notify credit card companies so they know I'm traveling -

But I think that's it!

I'm leaving at 6am tomorrow morning for a 2 1/2 hour drive to Greensboro to catch my flight to Atlanta and another flight to JFK New York - and finally will meet up with my group to board our flight to Taipei Taiwan and finally our last flight to Hanoi Vietnam.

I'm not sure exactly when I'll be able to post again - but I will when I can!

Today?

Since it's Saturday morning and the sun is shining after several rainy stormy days I think I'll head upstairs and scramble up a hearty breakfast.

I plan on resting it up today - not doing too much of anything since everything is well taken care of.

Early to bed tonight, and off I go tomorrow!
