My mail box has been a busy little receptacle over the past few weeks!
It seems as much stuff is coming IN as is going OUT, and in this case, it’s eye candy to the max – The Spring 2017 issue of Quilts from Quiltmaker’s 100 blocks is HERE!
And it is chock full of quilty loveliness in just about every style you can imagine, and I spent last night pouring over the contents.
When I first see the individual blocks as they are presented in the 100 blocks issues, I love them. Seeing several of them made into REAL QUILTS with very unique settings and color choices and fabrics just gets me over the moon excited.
This issue is FULL of gorgeous quilts from blocks you fell in love with.
Check this out:
Which one catches your eye first?
I have no idea how this process goes – who chooses which block they want to make into a real quilt, what the deadlines are (oh, yes! There are always deadlines!) and I can just imagine these quilters WAITING for this issue to finally hit the news stands where quilts they have kept secretly under wraps for months finally have a chance to come out and shine. And these ALL SHINE!
The cover will grab you right away!
And you really DO want to pick this issue up if for nothing more than the flanged binding how-to photo tutorial included inside. It’s brilliant. And so easy to understand with photos.
Tri-Angles by Denise Starck.
Denise designed the original block, and also this quilt, capturing her creative vision. I love the half blocks on the sides!! Isn’t this cool? And I will tell you right now that there are ZERO inset seams in this pattern. BRILLIANT!
Oooooh!
Aubergine also sewn by Denise. The block was originally called “Smithfield” by Maho Schwartz.
Gosh, I love this!
Pink on Parade by Beth Helfter
Beth’s original block was called Indian Corn. This is just so VERY cool! And it uses only 13 blocks. Full directions and easy assembly included in this issue!
And there are more, so many more.
Let’s bundle this issue with some other goodies!
- May/June 2016 issue with my Razzle Dazzle pattern (This is my last copy!)
- Sea Foam pattern by Tamarinis
- The Big Book of Bobbins by Julia Icenogle
- 10” Slicer ruler by Crafty Gemini
- 3” finished size SQangles Heat Transfer Template Sheets
I leave for Texas this morning, returning Saturday evening, so let’s draw for this winner on Sunday evening after I return home.
UPDATE on “THE THING”
Yes, I went back to meet with Doogie Howser yesterday and we finally have a diagnosis!
Does the sight of lemon drops make YOUR mouth water?
And it is not as dire as it could be, but I have been dealing with angry salivary gland stones. Who knew!?
Evidently I'm not drinking enough plain water, and stones are forming in my salivary ducts and blocking them and then infection occurs.
More than you wanted to know, but I am happy to have an answer. Go suck a lemon! Keep those salivary glands working at maximum capacity, and drink more water to flush them out and prevent more stones.
Thank you, Doogie Howser! And that would be it, but he discovered a mole on my forehead that needs to be looked at by a dermatologist. Appointment made for March 7th.
Here we go again!
Quiltville Quote of the Day!
All three of these things need to play together. We have to start where we are, with what we are able to do. We need to be motivated enough to try to push our boundaries and keep going no matter where we are in our journey. And of course, ATTITUDE is EVERYTHING!
Have a great Tuesday, everyone!
Glad it wasn't anything super serious. Drink your water, girl!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you have an answer! and a solution! Have a great trip.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you have an answer! Take good care of yourself Bonnie. We love you!
ReplyDeleteSheila
OMGosh!! You are unique in every way. Glad you found out what is was, weird as it is!
ReplyDeleteWell I guess that is one for the books.Easy fix for you...no meds or surgery needed. All is good just drink more. I am sure at your next destination they will make sure you do!! Happy travelling.
ReplyDeleteGlad you finally have your answer to the "thing". I guess I'll try to drink more water too.
ReplyDeleteDoes wine count as part of the liquid intake? LOL.
ReplyDeleteSo happy it's not something really terrible! And I'm glad Doogie Howser noticed the mole so it can be taken care of.
ReplyDeleteOk...that needs the go with the pictures of the craziest things you find in the antique malls...
ReplyDeleteNever heard of such a thing, but just goes to show that we never drink enough water.
Marguaritas have lots of water. Check that out in Texas! xoxox
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the give away opportunity, Bonnie. I've submitted my link. When you asked which item in the picture grabs our attention, my 'answer' is the X block in the upper right corner. Then I biggie sized the picture and realized it wasn't a block but an entire baby quilt. Loved it even more!
ReplyDeleteGee thanks Bonnie! My mouth is watering for a lemonhead!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget the sunscreen. Texas sun can be brutal.
ReplyDeleteIt's always something!!! Glands are weird. I picture them like little clams lurking below the surface. Feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that your facial mystery is cleared up. You are too busy to have any health issues! LOL Congratulations on your new Quilt Villa and the good news about your husband 's promotion! You are one busy lady but now I fear you're going to be going at warp speed to accomplish everything. Take care of yourself and God bless you.
ReplyDeleteWow.... I had no idea.... I was so surprised to see my daily lemon drops on your blog, and I drink at least 3 to 6 bottles of water everyday. Didn't know about stones. Thank you for telling us.
ReplyDeleteThank God you're fine, who new, please take care.
ReplyDeleteGreat preview of Quiltmaker - looks like a must-have issue! I almost commented about blocked salivary glands the first time you mentioned your problem, but I always hesitate giving medical suggestions as a non-professional. I watched my husband's face swell before my eyes and we rushed to the nearest Hospital even though he was in no pain. It took the Doctor 5 minutes to diagnose the gland problem and actually wrote a "prescription" for lemon drops. We did finally laugh about it on our way to the drugstore for the lemon drops. Hope you get some peace shortly.
ReplyDeleteWho knew such things exist? Have loved our daily communications since November 2015. You are a source of constant entertainment and information. And en Provence moves along slowly, but moves nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteHow I would love to win this give-away! It's my birthday today, so.... =^}
ReplyDeleteLove from Friesland,
Irene
Hi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteThankyou for all the time you give to your craft and blog.
As you have rightly said, it is time to slow down a bit, and look after you!
We, your blog groupies, we be in 2 days or a week!
This over 50 thing takes a toll on our bodies. Our brains think we are much younger, and lead us astray!
Please slow down, so we can enjoy you for as long as we can!
Meran xx
Todays Quote Of The Day is "powerful". I need this sign in my home. Hugs & Blessings
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, I have the same issue with blocked salivary glands. If you can find the hard candy
ReplyDeleteLemonheads get some. They are much more tart than the ones you have pictured and will really get those glands working. They are usually found in movie candy size boxes and are a pleasant way to get your treatment.
Good luck!
Favorite quilt? OOOH, that orange and lime beauty on the right side! What has come over me I can't say - ten years ago I would have gone for the most neutral quilt on the page and now I love purple, orange, lime and yellow. So glad an answer has been found for your problem, and sorry you have to have a mole removed. I hope it goes smoothly.
ReplyDeletelol and so it begins, you are now officially a senior, one doctor visit leading to another.... my condolences. Happily you have an answer to your lumps and bumps and it sounds like an easy fix. Happy travels, thank you again for what you do and share, love and health, Bonnie. the MomCat
ReplyDeleteI also have that dx. The ENT doc. also took me off my hydrochlorothiazide(bp)med as it can exacerbate the condition. Welcome to seniorhood.
ReplyDeleteIs this a small sign warning you to start slowing down a little. I honestly don't know how you keep going like the little enigizer bunny.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you for your DH answer! I guess "watered down" is always best. Thanks for the give away chance. I would love winning, best thing next to being at a retreat with you. I'm in TEXAS too. Love the Rocking R Retreat center. :( wish I was there too. Have a good time. Praying you have a better trip home than coming in. Texas is a wonderful place to be.
ReplyDeleteGlad you have an idea now! I got my bday present today, Addicted to scraps and Essential Triangle tool. I love ❤️ the little ruler that sets my 1/4" seam! You thought of everything! All this came just in time as I leave tomorrow for my quilt retreat in Ontario Canada tomorrow. Better go finish packing.
