It was a half day Pineapple Blossom workshop that followed a morning lecture yesterday with the Music City Quilt Guild of Nashville, TN!
How much quilting can you get done in 3 hours?
Lots – if you did all your pre-cutting at home and came with squares and rectangles ready to go!
This block is built much like a courthouse steps log cabin….and while you think the triangles may be the biggest challenge – it really isn’t. You know what is?
First, two short rectangles are added to each side of the center square. This unit needs to measure the exact same as the top and bottom rectangles that are added next…….if the rectangle is too big for the unit…that means seam allowances are too fat and need to skinny down. If the rectangle being added is too short to go across the center unit – that means the seam allowances when sewing on the first two side rectangles was too scant – it’s all about finding the right seam that will give you the size you really need, and taking the time to find out where that sweet spot is.
So –another saga in the life of trying to post slide shows. Now I’m getting messages from Ipad users that they can’t view the Picasa slide show. I’m sorry, I can’t please anyone all the time….and this is the way it is. I’m going to try the Picasa for a while….and we will see how it goes.
Here’s the photos from yesterday’s class:
Click HERE to go directly to the album-hopefully beneficial to those of you who can't view the slide show on your ipad. (You may need to install a flash player ---I can't be responsible for all devices.)

Today we are off and sewing on Jared Takes A Wife – it’s going to be another good day in Nashville, TN!
Looks like you are having fun! Someday I will get to be in one of your classes. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteP.S. When I can't see something on your blog, I just assume it is my equipment and it usually is. lol I saw this posted...Don't worry, you can't please everybody all the time and if you could, I have some water you could walk on.
love the block !

Thanks for sharing, everyone looks like they are having a great time. Getting excited to take your class in May in New York!
ReplyDeleteiPad users may need an app, such as Web Albums, to view Picassa content. No flash support is a well-known feature of the iPad and iPhone.
ReplyDeleteAnd the later versions of Android also no longer support Flash. But I'm sure there's a similar app for it. One which I'll have to download so I can read your posts on my Nook when I run it in N2A mode. But it's no biggie to make the adjustment on my side, where the issue is.
And thanks again for posting the slide shows. There is so much inspiration in seeing all the different colorways.
BTW Bonnie, there is a Culver's in Franklin, which is just outside of Nashville. If you're in Nashville long enough, maybe a trip there will fit into your iteneary. Franklin has a lot of neat civil War history to see, too.
ReplyDeletehow Cool that you would sign their blocks! Wish I was there, but so happy You are or I would not have realized how near-by they meet-up to me. I will be joining them in june. so happy! :-)
ReplyDeletep.s. Lebanon is a town about 25 minutes east of where you are. Just get on Lebanon Pike and drive east 'til you land at the town square and you will find near-to a dozen antique stores. I Love that place!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the new slide show presentation. Thanks for being so brave and trying new things. You are AWESOME!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your help for us IPad users! It worked like a charm. And even more thanks for all your hard work, especially all the effort you make to everyone happy. You have patience and a will to make us all as happy as we can be. Thank you for all you do! I can't say that enough!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link! Worked fine on iPads, especially as we can't download a flas player.
ReplyDeleteFYI-I am NOT complaining, this is simply feedback. I can not view your new slide show on my IPhone (just shows white area), however if I click on the "HERE" word it opens.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I want to thank you for all you do for the quilting community. You will not be able to please everyone. YOU do what is the easiest for YOU!
I love seeing all the color choices from your students, the antiques quilts you find on your travels and the amazing places you take us to around the world.
I so appreciate ALL you do.
Thank you for posting your comment my iPhone is my computer and I didn't know I needed to click on the "here"

The link works fine on my IPad-- your persistence is appreciated!
ReplyDeleteSlide show worked great. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I appreciate your work no matter which you use to post slides. I have only had a minor problem that coming back later took care of. Don't know what others are upset about. It is not like we pay you to do this! You do it out of the goodness of your heart! THANK YOU!
ReplyDeletethis is AWESOME!!! love the pineapples (the last one with the blues and yellows is fabulous!!!) thank you for the slideshow - worked great here! have a super FUN today :D
ReplyDeleteBonnie, girl you are up there with the computer whiz who fixes my computer when it gets messed up! I am in awe of how you figure out technie things and try to keep everyone happy! God bless you for your loving and caring heart!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this show. And, I enjoyed the show on Sky Drive, too. It was always worth the wait if it didn't load up the minute I wanted to view it. Seems to me that you should load the images on the computer for us in the way it is easiest for you, and we should do our part by being happy with what you do - which is a LOT!
ReplyDeleteThanks from the bottom of my heart!
Thank you for the pictures. I love your blog, and your inspiration.
ReplyDeleteAll the quilts are so beautiful and cozy. I love them.

Bonnie, I am so sorry that you get so much grief over pictures followers can't view. I tried again today and the slide show played just fine for me. We all need to remember that you are using valuable time to post pictures for us. You are so generous with your posts, patterns, pictures and tutorials and I for one appreciate everything. I hope someday to take another class from you. Thanks so much for all you do. You inspire me!
ReplyDeleteI have an iPad, use it all the time... saw all the wonderful sewing machines yesterday.....never had a problem with Picassa or any of the pictures you have posted.....you are so generous with your time and talent for that I am so very appreciative of all you do. The only thing I could think of is that maybe they don't know how to use their iPad........
ReplyDeleteThank you for providing a link....what fun. I love the one quilter who's block really matched her outfit.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, thank you so much for going through all the hassles to share with us. I am sure that there are only a few who are the squeaky wheels and whine when something goes haywire.
ReplyDeleteThese ladies need patience! I use an iPad and if it doesn't work when I first try it, I go back later and voila it works. Also I have no doubt that these people also own computers and could just get off their lazy duffs and go and look at the photos there. If they want to view the photos that bad they will figure it out.
Have fun and safe travels, and most of all enjoy it all. You are loved and appreciated everywhere. I am sure every workshop and lecture held is at full capacity. You are doing what you love with others who love it too.

Hear Hear!!!
DeleteOh, these are really neat blocks. Isn't it cute how some of these blocks match the clothing of the quilter making them? :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you keep all of these projects straight with all the traveling you do! You're Wonder Woman!!

Great Blocks again today. Love the one that you signed, I should have done that with my lone Midnight Flight Block. The best thing about the Picasa slide show is you see it as soon as you open your BLOG. Thanks again for coming to Portland! Now I can say , I FINALLY MET BONNIE HUNTER!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
DeleteYes, it was great meeting Bonnie in Portland. Wish I had thought to have her sign my lone Midnight Flight Block. Fun class we had. Didn't get much done, had to re-sew it after I returned home, turned the wrong way, AGAIN!!!
Everything worked just fine! The pictures were great, as always, and I just love how we could see where you signed their blocks. I hope that one day I will have a signed block as well. I got my String Fling book in the mail and am going shopping today for a few more reds as my hubby likes Talkin' Turkey. Thanks for all you do Bonnie!!!
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I love looking at all the pictures you post - please don't stop just because of some cranky people. Like most of the others, if I can't get it to work I come back later. If that doesn't work, then I figure it is on my end and my responsibility to fix. Usually coming back later works for me.
ReplyDeleteWe are so lucky that you spend precious sewing time sharing pictures with us -- I am amazed at what you get done in a day ... you must be like the Energizer Bunny!!!!
Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteThanks for all you do for the quilting community. Please do not let those people ruin your day with their snarky comments.
You will not be able to please everyone. YOU do what is the easiest for YOU!
I love seeing the antiques quilts you find on your travels and the amazing places you take us to around the world.
Wish I had thought to have a block signed by you at the Portland Block Party. I loved your class.

worked great for me (slideshow) but then the other one worked sometimes too.
ReplyDeleteI am happy and great full for all you do for us!!!
XOXOXO Subee
The photos are wonderful! Such diversity of colours and every one of the blocks looks gorgeous.
ReplyDeletewow; great work by everyone and such a variety of colors! Looks like everyone was having a great time too!! Thanks for making the pattern available for us to print! It is worth the 13 pages!!! What a great use of scrappy fabrics too. Time to get sorting!

Wow, love the pictures yesterday and today. Working great on my Nook, which is where I watch quiltcam also. Love that we don't have the ads now too. Thank you so much for all you do for us, hard for me to travel anymore, but I get to go thru you, and see all the great places you go! Have also learned so much from you. Please keep up the wonderful job you do. I look forward to your posts every day. God bless you and yours, Sandra
ReplyDeleteAs others have mention, iPads and iPhone don't support flash. Apple is throwing its weight around. But it's fine. I read the blog more for quilting insights & following your journeys plus apparently if I click the link, I'll be able to see the photos instead of the white space. May need to start reading your blog at work on break instead of at home on the iPad.
ReplyDeleteThanks for trying to get things working for more people than not.

ReplyDeleteWow, stunning blocks that will grow up to be stunning quilts!!! Just gorgeous!!! Love Picassa - no waiting for anything to load, all that loveliness just flips on my screen all by itself!!
ReplyDeleteIt works for me. THanks for changing up so many times to accommodate all of us. I'm using my Dell laptop.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, looks like everyone is having a grand time! Sure wish I was there, but since I'm not I sure do appreciate all you do and your efforts of the slideshows, everyone needs to quit whining and find their own way to make it work, that is just not your responsibility!!! Love ya enjoy the rest of your time!!

Loved seeing the lady in blue and white who dressed to match her block - perfectly! All the blocks are perfect. Thanks for the slideshow.
