Super Duper Over The Rail!

And it's a wrap!

The August Quiltvillians have made so many beautiful things while on retreat this week!

UFOs became tops, new projects were started, blocks were made, new fabrics were purchased on fun day trips.

There was much late late late night sewing, and some early morning sewing in pajamas, too.

And this is what they have to show for it!

The three yard quilts are perfect for retreat finishes that can actually happen on retreat and the size is perfect for a child or lap quilt.

And the turtle panel quilt?  It became a top, was quilted and bound - all while on retreat!

The purple Blue Ridge Beauty keeps making a retreat comeback - only a few more sections to go and it will be done!  Pattern from my Addicted to Scraps book.

Garden Party also from the Addicted to Scraps book  and a Jacob's Chain!

Two stripey quilts next to each other!  Thanks to your comments yesterday, this is a Missouri Star tutorial and can be found on their website and on YouTube..

Love these smiles!

The quilt on the left is a One Block Wonder - center is Grassy Creek in progress followed by a wonderful Irish Chain version.

Here's the back of the One Block Wonder showing the focal fabric in the center!

(LOVE that quilting texture!)

Jacob's Chain in softer colors and a 16 patch scrappy!

We had to photograph the two Jacob's Chain quilts side by side!

Old Town top finish!

Super cute and bright!

(The fabric bottom left is cat food cans.  LOL!)

Two more beauties!

If you have pattern info on either of these, please leave them in the comments section below!

Two very satisfying quick four-patch quilts ready for quilting and gifting!

And Tula - thinking she could supervise the over-the-porch-rail photo session!

Pumpkin Patches and shirt/tie quilt tops finished!

Fun solids in this one!

(If you know the name, put it in comments please!)

Summer Pops is now a top!

Family tree mini with binding going on -

And a sampler together!

Edges will be squared and borders added when she gets home.

And yes, we DID hold off rain long enough to host a fire pit last night!

If you look toward the house you can see Tula on the walkway.

Zoey, making friends.

Some things just yell SUMMER!

But it it bursts into flame, DO NOT FLING!!

This was a great way to spend Becca's birthday and we are so grateful she chose to spend it with us.

Thank you so much for a wonderful week, everyone!

We'll see you next time!

We've grot another quick turn around.  Most of these lovely ladies will already be on the road by the time I get to the inn this morning.

Jill's TaDa Quilters will be arriving from Erie PA and beyond tomorrow afternoon.

Oh, and remember that eye doc appointment I had to wait 7 months to get?

That appointment is TOMORROW at 12:45.  Hooray.  It's finally happening.

I'll see you on the other side of the laundry -

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

If you see me with a seam ripper, now is not a good time!

What are some of your most colorful phrases that do not include swear words?

Give me your best!

Have a terrific Tuesday, everyone -

  1. Oh what beautiful quilts over the rail. Jacob's chain is my favorite.
    And the Pumpkin quilt.
Good luck at your eye appointment tomorrow. Hope all goes well.
I'm still sewing down binding on my Carolina Christmas quilt.
Thinking about what to start next 🤔. Maybe Bear Patch in Greens and browns. I have too much fabrics in those colors...
    Don't work too hard today.
    Have a Sparkling day
    Blessings 🙏 💞

The pattern for the multicolored quilt with the dark border is also from Missouri Star and it's called Disappearing Pinwheels.

The quilt pattern you are looking for is the disappearing pinwheel designed by Brita Nelson aka "The Questioning Quilter". It is a free pattern on her website and there is a you tube video. I have made several of these myself. They are quite striking in any colorway.

For a moment I thought Zoey had learned to balance a purple cup on her nose. Take another look!

The green bordered quilt is an Indigo Way mystery gone wrong. When you come up with lemons you make lemonade😊

Ben Napier on Home Town, "Measure once cuss twice". The quilters get a lot done at your retreats. I would be so distracted, petting pets, walking in the beautiful landscape, eating the good food and looking at all the quilts and projects. I would need a very small project. Looks like so much fun.

"It will all work out, somehow" I said this to a friend & she said "My dad always said that". Guess that makes me old.

About 3/4 of the way through the quilt pics, there’s an unidentified square green and beige and blue quilt. If I’m not mistaken, it is made of Indigo Way blocks! Catherine H.

The quilt with solids and striped rectangangles looks like Ruby Sue from Lo and Behold Stitchery.

  15. "Lord love a duck!" is one my dad used. I just finally finished a very troublesome quilt. I used a few words on that one. But the recipients loved it. And I love, love the fabrics used in the "Sampler" next to the family tree!

I believe the quilt below the cat cans picture is from you tube- disappearing pinwheel top of the stairs
Tula certainly has "Catitude"!she looks to be done with the photo shoot.
My favorite phrase is just plain "four letter word! "

My mother was a first grade teacher, so her “curse word” of choice was almost always, “Shishkabiddle””! A word her students could safely appropriate and use freely too! I used to say “Crimenently” or “Damp Weather”.

  19. Part of the fun of reading "Goodnight Moon" to the kids when they were little was finding the little mouse in each scene. That's what your wide-angle shots remind me of, as I pore over them to see if I can find Tula somewhere in the background.

  22. So many pretty quilts hanging over the rail, and I love the bright pink shirts!
I'm interested in One Block Wonders right now so I was drawn to the one in today's post. alsoI really like the way the quilter made the backing.
Zoey is in heaven getting attention and pats from new friends. I didn't notice the purple cup until someone commented that it looked like she was holding the cup with her nose. I can't unsee it now. :-) Jenny

  24. Lovely quilt parade. I curse in French and it sounds like this : Cholesterol, Oh My Sizzling Bacon, What the wrapped tart is that? (when someone is an idiot in my point of view). Sometimes, I just go "beep" where a bad word in to be insert in my sentence. That always make people laugh. Enjoy! ;^)

  27. My big quilt that looks like an Irish Chain is "Many Trips Around the World" from Blanche Young's book "Tradition with a Twist". It was fun to make. The assembly process was similar to making a bargello.

Thanks for another wonderful week at QVI!!
