A Day of Cathedral Stars!

20160109_154820
Or as they say, there is ONE in every crowd!

Way to ham it up, Mike! Hahahah!

What a fun day we had in Mauldin, South Carolina with the Nimble Thimble Quilters and friends.  26 machines humming, rotary cutters whirring along, making blocks from scraps.

Spending the day with friends, long standing and true, as well as new-found and joyful.

I can’t tell you what it does for my heart when I see people interacting with each other, caring about each other, hugs going around, stories being shared of the wondrous and sometimes heartfelt things that happened over the holidays.

We are bringing 2016 in with Happiness, and that was evident yesterday!

Happy Accomplishments!

Isn't she the cutest ever?

i had the best time spending the day with these gals!

The free pattern for Cathedral Stars is found under the Free Patterns tab at the top of the blog.  3 simple units – a 4 patch, a half square triangle, and a tri-recs unit make up the whole thing.  Go for it!

And check out our other photos in the slide show!  Click the image below if you are unable to view the slide show on your mobile device.  You’ll be taken to the photo album for viewing.

Quiltville Quote of the Day!

Today I am choosing extreme happiness. If I choose it long enough, it will become a habit! Are you with me? This is a photo of a vintage spiderweb quilt top, machine quilted by my friend Allison. I love life on the scrappy side!

Up on deck today, a Scrappy Trips Workshop!

Happy Sunday, Everyone!

This quilt is on my 2016 list. What a fun looking group, and boy do they have an eye for color. So inspiring to see so many different looks come together and all beautiful.

With so many purchases of Vintage Machines do you , Bonnie, have information as to HOW to clean your machines. Old oil, ( Use sand paper alcohol) ,dust bunnies ( Use a lint or tooth brush) Any suggestions? On the Singer 404 are the feed dogs suppose to go DOWN so that one can free motion quilt? Finding info is not easy even with an on line manual. Thanks for all that you have provided for ALL of us. My Allietare is about half done. I LOVE the colors. Thanks

Can you guess who's too excited to sleep? In a few hours registration opens for the Spring Needlework Seminar at the Grand Hotel :) We are picking up Xenia, who we met on the Cruise in October to ride with us...and her Roomie is going to be a lovely Canadian quilter who was also the Cruise.

Our Guild had our Winter Retreat Friday and Saturday and there were a few "Bonnie" quilts being worked on. I met Lisa at one of your workshops about 45 minutes from my home and learned she lives just a few minutes from me. Lisa finished her Cathedral Stars top on Saturday and another lady was making golden string blocks for her Allietare!!

You are bringing so many people together and spreading so much joy! HAPPY 2016 and beyond.

Hey Bonnie, I saw a pic on the slideshow today of a gel pen for fabric. It zipped by and I didn't get the skinny on it. Can you share the brand and the specs? TIA and thanks for all you do. I've gotten 2 Alletaire blocks done!

I totally agree with your comment in the quilt! The world would be a better place, if more people adopted this philosophy.
