Mothers, Daughters, Quilters & Friends!

Would you just look at this wonderful display of gorgeous quilts over the rail at Quiltville Inn?

The Naughty Room Quilters had pulled out all of the stops for a wonderful airing of the quilts.

As the sun moves across the sky, the photo taking time also needs to adjust so we get the best natural light possible with the least amount of glare -

These photos were taken at 10am-ish on Sunday morning.

And that sky!  Isn't it lovely!

Wild & Goosey from the Addicted to Scraps book, Cathedral Stars from the Free Patterns tab, Bitcoin, and another gorgeous Cathedral Stars!

Wedding Ring quilt, On Ringo Lake, a lovely basket and another fantastic Bitcoin!

Chunky String quilt with mother & daughter team Debi & Kassandra, A broken dishes variation in purple, Good Fortune & Wonky Wishes in progress!

The Wild & Goosey quilt was made by a member who was unable to attend, but the quilt came along for a photo op over the rail - Loads of love going back with the traveling quilt as it returns to its maker!

Two Bitcoin quilts die by side!  Fantastic!

And I love the Mother/Daughter love at retreat!

And the abundance of shirt fun at the inn is so creative too!

For those not in the know: This group was from Bloomington/Normal, Illinois.  There is a saying around those parts that if you are not IN Normal, Illinois - you are Not Quite Normal. I love it!

I have been asked so many times to have shirts available, but there are so many options and it would require merchandise in so many sizes, and restocking and everything that I am considering an online "made to order" source to make them available not only for inn guests, but for everyone -

If you know of a good online source for merchandise, please let me know and I will look into it.  This would be SEPARATE from what Forest Jane does for us during mystery season.  Her proceeds from the Quiltville Zazzle Store go to help communities in need and I want to keep it that way, so a different platform would be needed so we don't take away from that.

It was so wonderful to have these ladies stay -

They were absolutely sew much fun!

And we'll see you again next year!

Making progress!

In between flipping loads of laundry from washer to dryer and getting things ready for the Stitch Mob's arrival this afternoon, much cutting took place!

These will be border units for the shirt quilt I've been working on.(More progress at the bottom of this post.)

Audio books and podcasts have been my main stay while working on things since my cutting table faces the street, and not the TV wall.

There is more cutting of the neutrals to happen today, but I hope to be sewing by this afternoon.

Friend Martha is on her way over to help Susan make the beds upstairs while I make up the towel baskets downstairs (All laundry is done, just ran out of time to do the folding last night) and we'll be ready for the Stitch Mob to roll in.

I won't lie - I'm feeling pretty listless with this whole broken foot thing.  It's easy to know when I do too much, as in yesterday where I headed home at 3pm with an aching foot because I'd been on it too long.

The Stitch Mob gang has some avid walkers/hikers in it and it is killing me to not be able to join in on their excursions, but I am happy that they are returning guests and they know where to go, and they have my park pass to get them there.

It's still very hard to give this time to heal.  I hate the boot more and more every day, but at the same time I am grateful that it is giving me SOME mobility so I can at least drive - I can get from this chair to that chair! It hasn't stopped me from enjoying time with the retreat gals.

It's just taking a long time to heal.  Sorry for the rant - but I just feel a bit down about it all.

Okay.  Over it now.  Today is a new day - and it's going to be a great one.

What do you have going on over on YOUR side of the monitor today?

Another great over the porch rail display! Boy these groups certainly come up with creative names for their groups!
Don't get disheartening, won't be long now before it's off your leg for good.
Have a sparkling day ❤️

Bonnie, I love that you have a tab for favorite TV shows. Would you consider adding your favorite podcasts? Do you get the audiobooks from your library? Thanks very much, and I wish for you a full recovery of the foot!

Hi Bonnie. How I feel for you with your broken foot. In January I slipped on black ice and fractured a vertabrae and had to wear a rigid full body corset, apart from when I was flat on my back in bed, for 14 weeks. It certainly cramped my style but I did manage to make a quilt top in that time. However I stuck rigidly to my specialist's instructions and it healed well and I have no movement problems or pain. So stick with it Bonnie and you'll be alright in the end! Helen in France

Hang in there, Bonnie! You are already doing so much more than a few weeks ago. Boot off time will come and so will "I can finally do what I want" time, maybe even later than that. I just had a badly stubbed toe last month and it took six weeks for that simple thing not to remind me of itself and interfere with hiking, so not surprised your broken bone is taking longer. You've gotten back to the trail after other injuries (you were still nursing a sprained ankle last September when I was at the Inn), time will come this time, too!

Gorgeous photos over the rail! I have to say I adore the Bitcoin quilts and want to make another one every time I see one!

The shirts are great. Not sure it's worth the Trouble. Awesome Over the Rail quilts. What is the Dead spot in the grass? I never saw that before. Healing takes longer for a busy person like you. Hubby had his last PT. He's on his Daily walk now. Love the border In the works. Happy Wednesday!

ugh, I feel your pain - literally, in winter 2021 I broke my foot and my fibula and I live alone, so a friend stayed with me for six weeks, and I don't know what I would have done if she hadn't....but I was still chomping at the bit to get my house back to myself and to get past it like it never happened. That whole summer I wasn't sure I ever would, and walking the dog was an exercise in frustration (for both of us, I'm sure, lol), but at this point I only notice a twinge now and again and I mostly trust my ankle again. Anyway, all that to say: I know how intensely frustrating it can be to be less than mobile, and to wonder if it's ever coming back, and it SUCKS. My heart goes out to you, Bonnie!

Yes healing takes forever. My hubby jumped over a fence after drinking in 2019...broke his foot right good and now has a plate in it that bothers him constantly. A reminder of stupidity. Nevertheless, I am making pillowcases for both of us right now. His a scattering of painterly dots and circles, and mine a collage of butterflies, flowering plants and French scenes. Sweet dreams, rest up!!

Bonnie, hi from Kansas. I just embarked on my own loooong orthopedic healing process. I am counting on a daily dose of joy and inspiration from you to keep me uplifted, encouraged and positive. You spread joy into my life everyday, and yet I understand that there are moments of frustration with slow healing and limitations. I wish you the very best today and every day. You will walk those lovely trails again!!
