And All that Zazzle!

Did you know?

Every year my friend Forest Jane creates our wonderful mystery badges. I send her some images of the quilt, and away she goes -

And then she goes one step further.  She places the logo on things that are useful and needful in our Quiltville Zazzle Store – marking items at the LOWEST possible profit margin, and then thanks to your purchases, all proceeds go to benefit those in need – from children to adults, in giving them the gift of creativity.

The funds raised have gone to everything from fabric, to batting, yarn and more.  It's been a different year with Covid, classes at the Library where Forest Jane teaches have been impacted by everything that we all have dealt with, as you can imagine.

I am looking forward to the day when classes are back in full swing!

For more info on what this program provides, click to read THIS POST.

So, without further ado,  I am pleased to present our Grassy Creek logos, straight from the creative force of Forest Jane!

(Shown as 600 on this page because 800 is too big.)

Click the photo and the full size should open on the next screen.

I have also added a "grab my button" that you may copy the code in the box and post it in your blog side bar to show that you have participated in our Grassy Creek mystery!

When you visit the Quiltville Zazzle Store remember that you can add our logo to ANY item you wish, not just the ones that are shown.  If there is something that you are looking for let Forest Jane know and she can upload the item for you.

This has been my view over the weekend!

And there is still much of this left.

And yes - the drive is THAT STEEP!

This was us - going down to check on Lola at the QPO.

With this much ice, my all wheel drive van would not be able to make it back up - so we took Dave's 4WD pickup.

I took this video of our climb back up the steep drive on our way back.  Click to Play:

We had a bit of a thaw yesterday - I can now see the edges of the grass and I hope that I can get down the drive and get on with my Monday.

Yesterday's sunrise through the icicle on the rain chain.

As the temps rose, the weight of the icicle broke it away from the chain - it was SO ODD!  This is right outside the sliding glass door to my basement sewing room.  As I was at the cutting table cutting out block parts, I heard a big crash, turned around, and the whole icicle was on the ground in pieces.

Crazy!

This combo was making me happy as I stayed in warm and cozy.

After spending all of Friday and Saturday in the basement -

Yesterday I moved to the upstairs treadle for some company!

I blogged about this old UFO a few weeks back.

See the block on the couch?

I know now why it became a UFO.  The yellow triangles that frame the string pieced center were cut on the verge of "too small" for the block.  I can do it - but it is involving having to skimp on the seam allowance a bit to get the size block that I need.

Trimmed up string pieced centers!

I'm making these out of all the LITTLE scraps.

I really like projects that use the smallest of chunks at the tips like this.

I got this far this morning -

Before looking at the clock and realizing I needed to get a move on and write this post.

The pieces are at the machine - the goal is to sew ONE BLOCK A DAY until I have used all of the "nearly too small" yellow pieces and have enough blocks to turn this into something.

I really am glad I have been able to knock out some of the oldest UFOs in my studio over the past many months.

There are still a few "what was I thinking" projects that are on the back burner.  They may become table runners or hot pads. LOL.

So here we are at Monday - a brand new week ahead.  Anything fun in store in your near future?

The only "go to town" thing I have on my plate is a late afternoon chiropractor appointment tomorrow. Whoohoo.

In all seriousness - I'm grateful. That leaves me a lot of freedom to work on projects, to take care of mail order, to listen to podcasts, to dance to the oldies around my studio, and just be grateful that we are safe, warm, healthy and happy.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Thank you, C.S. Lewis! ⁣

Keep dreaming, keep setting and working towards those goals!

And have a wonderful Monday, everyone!

Working on a Starr design bed quilt top. It's foundation pieced and uses hand dyed fabric. Slow going but perfect for a 30 minute sewing break.

I love the photo of the treadle machine and scraps everywhere!
Just seeing it makes me feel relaxed and happy!
Have a great day!

Not progressing as fast as I thought on this cold (light dusting of snow) morning. My Granddaughter decided she needed to do a Face Time from college. She has been back a week from being home from Christmas and she just wanted to visit (oh and us buy her books for this semester - LOL) while she was organizing her week. Now I am heading back for some more Grassy Creek. Love you sunrises and your snow views.

Thanks to Forest Jane for these fun souvenirs of our mystery adventures!
I love the mugs, and I ordered a hoodie last year and the fit is large, but perfect for our winters.

Want to quilt - work on Grassy Creek - but need to get the poodle groomed today, so energy for quilting may be scarce! Tomorrow for sure! Thanks, Bonnie!

Judy T. Thanks for that great idea! I have an antique bassinette that was old when my father slept in it in 1922. My brothers and I slept in it as well as my cousins, my own children and one of my grandchildren. Since then it has been loaned out well over one hundred times. It is currently not in use for a baby but is stashed with my daughter in another state. Once Covid lifts I am going to go get my new "scrap basket!

Ordered and added the html to my Blog. Thanks Forest Jane and Quiltville. Never too many mugs that say, I'd Rather Be quilting with Bonnie. Love the T-shirts too in all the colors, white gets too stained. Soon I'll be making a Quiltville T-shirt Quilt, lol. No snow until my Birthday the weatherman says.

I believe it is a plastic storage tub.

My goal today is to get a few rows of my scrap quilt sewn. Have it webbed, but after the 6” of snow yesterday...yes, in central Texas!!, it was too cold to work on it. My machine sits right in front of an 6’x6’ old window that is rather drafty. Way too cold to sew there yesterday. Today, the sun is out off and on, so I’m waiting for the next rays to hit, and I’m heading to the machine. Hope everyone is safe and warm!

This morning I finished Grassy Creek Part 6 and cut the green squares. I'm looking forward to sewing together my first block tomorrow but now I must get some work done (not retired yet). Bonnie, it's so fun to see what's happening in your nook of the US and see what you're sewing. You are an inspiration and a grateful diversion to current events. Thank you for sharing so much with us.

BlessOSU, you are totally correct!! But......I am with TrulyBlessed, and plan to eventually retrieve the bassinette we had for our littles many years ago and use it for just this purpose!!!

A few years ago I bought an Easy Street apron from the Quiltville Zazzle store and I have to say how much I love it! Good quality, sturdy fabric. The ties are long enough to wrap around and tie in front. It isn't a skimpy little thing--there is good coverage to protect your clothes, and it has a quilt block on it. What more could you want??

As I was busy stitching Grassy Creek yesterday, I didn't read your post until this morning (Tues) -- we are in our winter home, where it's mostly warm - and we are remodeling - so today I have to clean the new bathroom so we can start using it (Hallejuah) -- and get everything moved over from the old bathroom so we can tear it out and redo it. But I have to close up my sewing room for about a month or so until we get my spare bedroom (next to new bathroom) where my kitchen is currently located - moving kitchen to my sewing room -- I don't know how I will get by without sewing for a month -- may have to keep the featherweight set up!!! Thanks for all you do!

I loved the footage of the icy drive. We too have a very steep drive going to our place in the mountains and I was holding my breath as you made the last hairpin turn!
Once again Forest Jane has done an outstanding job representing your quilt challenge.
Thank you, Bonnie for giving of yourself and your time to us each year.

I've wanted to ask for a long time - what is the idea behind the 'rain chain'? I've been fascinated by it for a long time and can't work it out :)

Enjoyed the drive! Like your set up to watch tv. I am boning to try that.

I think it's used instead of gutters to direct the water runoff from the roof to the ground. The water follows the chain down.

Sounds wonderful! Are u dying the fabric? Please post!!

Loved the drive to your house! We've stayed at a couple of VBRO homes near Waynesville, NC that the drives are actually worse than yours! I didn't think that was possible. Wild ride!! :-) Thanks for all the wonderful patterns you've put out over the years, and so many of them freebies!! For so many, that's all they can afford - especially now! Blessings for a wonderful year ahead!!

I would love to use my treadle. Never have tried to, but it would be fun! And girl! you need a new chair! I have serious back problems and some days I have to wear a brace, but my favorite chair is a bungee chair from The Container Store. Raises up and down, light enough to toss in the car, and is on WHEELS!

Now that you have have been home for almost a year what are your thoughts on traveling and teaching? I'm guessing that you like being home more than youu thought you would and I that you are enjoying your productivity! I think opening the retreat center was perfect way for you to transition to being home and still teaching on occasion. I hope 2021 is blessed beyond measure for you and all of your followers!!

Pam, you didn't ask for opinions, but I sure hope you keep some sort of little setup for sewing. Your featherweight and enough fabric for some uncomplicated blocks to sew would probably make that month go a lot better! :)

I love Kathleen Starr's fabrics! I worked with her for years before she quit to do her hand-dyed fabrics full time...a wonderful lady with gorgeous fabrics and patterns! (I even tested a pattern for her long time ago and got 'paid' in fabric! Great deal!) If anyone is interested in seeing her items, go to www.starrfabrics.com She lives about 30 minutes from me. So just supporting a small-town business!

Ahh, thanks for the explanation - makes sense now haha
